Hello everyone
Back to work and school today. I'm not feeling great today, have a stinking headache and feel rubbish. I'm hoping it's just anxiety related as it's been crazy busy today.
Little jwil went back to school today, he was a bit anxious about it, but seems to have had a good day. We walked down this morning (one benefit of working from home!) Then I had to be back with little miss at 10.30 for an hours stay and play session. She loved it and is so confident and outgoing, she's a wonder to me! I don't know where she gets it from.
In between all of the school runs, I had to work, with deadlines for 2 reports and a meeting which clashed with the after school run. So I've been a bit anxious about it all. I was up and logged on early this morning to ensure I got my hours in, and managed to get the reports done. I logged on to the meeting and then left my phone recording when I went on the school run, so at least I'll be able to catch up with that.
I'm quite pleased with what I achieved while I was off, not as much as I had hoped, but still a fair amount. One of the items I listed the other day is now selling for £70, so not a bad return for something I wasn't going to bother listing!
I've managed to sit DH down and show him my pensions spreadsheet. For someone who has always assumed he would never be able to retire, I think he was pleasantly surprised about the potential. Once we both reach state pension age, we will have a decent income, so any savings we make will enable us to retire earlier. I still want to aim for when I'm 55"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4 -
I am pleased you have a pensions spreadsheet. Goals are essential - even if you miss them you still get further than you otherwise would. It sounds like you are juggling a lot as always. Hopefully things settle down soon.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Still headachey today. DH is off for the next two weeks so he will be able to help manage little miss's part time hours, so I won't have so much running around to do thankfully!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". We are just back from a lovely weekend in Cornwall
Lots of fresh air and exercise and my knee has held up really well so I think it's finally improving.
The biggest disaster was I forgot to take my kindle and book! I never go anywhere without a book! I had to make do with the kindle app on my phone for the first night, but dived into the first charity shop I spotted to buy something
We made the effort to visit some new places this weekend as well so that made a nice change too.
Back to it now, getting ready for little miss starting school properly tomorrow. She's on half days for two weeks, then full time after that."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thank you everyone
Little miss is loving school. It's so helpful having DH home these two weeks to help out with the endless journeys to school though. Work is still crazy busy.
DH is doing some sorting while he is off which is always good.
My item that I listed on ebay amazingly sold at over £250! Not bad for something I wasn't sure was worth the hassleIt's gone overseas though so will be a little while before I know it's arrived safely. The money will most probably go towards my MOT and service next week. If there's any left then I might make a start on Xmas shopping.
I saw on here on another thread someone recommended a CBT book for losing weight. As a lot of my issues relate to my mental health, I thought I'd have a look at it. I bought it using amazon vouchers and am reading through it. It's a 6 week CBT course (though you can take as long as you need to do each step) aiming to change the way you think in the same way as the depression book I've got works. I'm currently reading through it, with the plan to actually start working through it once I'm done. So far it looks interesting. It doesn't tell you what you should be eating, but helps to tackle negative thinking and to give you the tools and motivation to help you stick to whatever diet or healthy eating plan you choose."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
