We are heading to the seaside today. Hoping the weather is ok. We'll see what happens.
I emailed a certain large online retailer the other day to see if they offer trade-ins for their tablets. I have one which is 8 years old and is just old and clunky with little functionality, and little jwil's is starting to stop holding it's charge for so long. They immediately offered me a 15% discount on a new purchase for two tablets, valid for 90 days. I don't need to return the old ones. I happened to spot yesterday that their tablets are discounted at the moment, so bought the replacement for little jwils (we had been planning to replace it anyway). With the special offer and the discount, I managed to get it for a little over half price! Very pleased with that. I also had some vouchers to use on my account, so that was another saving of a few £s.
I haven't decided whether to replace mine as well yet."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee6 -
Hope everyone is well.
We had a nice day out the other day, eventually went to 3 different beaches, spending a bit of time at each. Treated the kids to a McDonalds. It's the first takeaway we've had since March. It was quite bizarre being the only person in there at lunchtime!
We bought a couple of spare facemasks to keep in the car so that we've got one even if we forget to carry one. I'll keep one in my bag too.
Little jwil's tablet arrived and he's much happier with it.
I've booked us a weekend in Cornwall in early September. Travelodge had a deal that if you book a room you get an extra night free. I had a look around to find some cheap dates and therefore got 2 nights for £45. Can't argue with that!
I think it will all be a bit of a nightmare this autumn/winter once cold and flu season starts so we can have a weekend away and then settle down for the winter. The school have already said that they will be sending children home a lot more regularly when they've got coughs etc, which is understandable, but will be a pain as it's normally constant, particularly with the smaller children!
I'm also trying to get a bit organised for winter and stocking up on stuff so that we can be prepared if anything happens, or if there are local lockdowns etc. I'm going to try and get Christmas organised early as well. I want to be prepped ahead of any panic buying that might surface again (though hopefully it won't!).
The kids swimming lessons start again next week, but they have changed times which is a bit of a pain, but manageable. I'm cancelling my membership as we can't do family swimming, and there's no sign of aqua aerobics starting again at the moment. If it all starts I'll do pay as you go and then consider the membership again in the future. I can't see me going to much regularly at the moment. Aqua was always full anyway, so if they do half the number of people, then I'll be lucky to be able to get in."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi lovely, just catching up, read your news about OH and that things have been tough. I do hope OH’s role continues as know that it’s been good to have it settled and as you say there is so much uncertainty out there. But at least you’ve got a plan and you’ve minimised your spends before and can do so again.
i am finding running and walking, basically being outside is what is keeping me level. Glad you’re doing the C25k. I gave in and bought a small folding desk for the back room and I now sit there looking over the garden. It makes a real difference to my well being. It’s taken me a while but have now accepted that me and OH will be working at home at least until January, maybe longer so needed to make layout changes. Do you have a good space to work?Homeschooling has been a huge challenge and doing anything whilst holding down a job and keeping everyone sane and safe is a benefit. He will be fine. He has loving caring parents who will help him. That’s the best start he can have. Honest.Have a lovely weekend and glad you got out to the beach and that’s a brilliant deal on the Cornish weekend. We won’t be at the seaside until early August, travelling to glorious Yorkshire. Can’t wait5 -

I've got the table out the back as my workspace. Right next to the patio doors, I love it. Much better than in the office. I also sit in the comfy chair with a small table when I want to sit in the sun for a bit. I really hope I can continue to work from home for the foreseeable.
I love Yorkshire, that's something to look forward to"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee6 -

Hi, I'm a lurker on your diary and can remember you getting a CBT book some months ago. Ive just tried to search to see what it was called but it just gives me your diary. So just wanted to ask what it was called and if you found it any good.

Well it looks like DH has survived the initial cull, thankfully! That gives us some breathing space.
I sorted through a load of paperwork yesterday so there's a nice big pile gone for recycling today. I need to sort through all the kids clothes again to see what has been outgrown and what they need for winter.
Back on the healthy eating again. I've got such a long way to go to just be obese rather than morbidly obese it is overwhelming. I guess I've just got to keep trying and I'll get there eventually. I must remember to work on my cbt stuff though as my mood will determine my success.
Nearly payday. This month will be my last ever nursery payment! It's the end of an eraIt's been an expensive 7 years
