Oh thank you both - that's good news. I'll wait and see what the letter says, but it's definitely listed as a new 'condition', so I wonder if there's another factor as well. I'm only 1 point above 'normal' range, and I've never had raised blood sugar before. However, it's a good warning for me to improve my diet anyway.
I still haven't done my Christmas cards!
I thought we had the kids booked in to see Santa tomorrow. We were just heading out this morning, when DH happened to look at the email and realised it was today! We had 10 minutes to get over there, and just managed it thankfully! The kids enjoyed it and got a nice activity book each."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney3 -
I've had to splash out and buy a new vacuum cleaner today. I just couldn't get it to pick up at all, and cleaning and replacing the filters hasn't worked. There has been a nick in the cable for a while as well, so I figured it was about time it was replaced. It's got to be around 15 years old, so hasn't done us badly.
I managed to go through TCB and also get 10% off, so that has helped. I added a mop to the basket as well, so I could clean the kitchen floor without having to get the steam cleaner out all the time, and also it means I can try and clean the bathroom ceiling properly. It keeps getting mouldy and it's really hard to reach it all. I'm going to have to be super frugal in the new year!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney3 -
I've just set up my financial spreadsheet for next year. I hope to be able to do a F&F on at least one of the debts if I can. I'll see how it goes.
Just thinking ahead to what I want to achieve, I think I need to step up the decluttering again. It's eased off a bit over the last few months, and stuff is building up again. I've got 2 weeks off after this week, so will try and make an effort in the second week.
Next year I need to rebuild my emergency savings, stop frittering, and hopefully start getting some of the work done on the house!
Barring any disasters, I don't think we need to make any big purchases - except for the Fridge/Freezer which I will look for in the January sales. It's the small purchases that add up, so I need to stop those.
We are currently eating from the freezer in the lead up to Christmas to try and empty it before replacing it, so that should save money on groceries. I'm using up what's in the cupboards as well so I can replace it with fresh stuff and ensure it doesn't all go out of date.
I must also start watching my DVDs so I can get rid of the ones I don't want to keep and try and encourage DH to do the same. We're using the streaming services so there's no point in keeping DVDs that I don't want to rewatch. There are some I love so will be keeping but most are watch once, then go.
My vacuum cleaner arrived last night, so I will try that out later once the kids have packed away their Lego. I will also give my new mop a try as well, and hopefully clean the bathroom ceiling more thoroughly.
We're not going anywhere today, so I shall just potter about.
Have a good day everyone"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney3 -
Frittering is my nemesis! I say every month that it will stop!We are doing it the other way around and stocking early for Christmas, barring the fresh things. MrWW is worried there may be supply issues so we are making sure we can cobble most things from stores and the freezer (frozen back up turkey, chipolatas, streaky bacon, sprouts, etc. ). Then we will do the eat from stores and freezer in January.

I've got a load of Christmas food in the freezer too - those I will leave until after Christmas and eat then. I'm working through all the other meat and veg first. We do have a small spare freezer which will be staying, so it's a case of eating down enough to get the contents of both into one, so we can replace the fridge/freezer."If you can dream it, you can do it". Christmas cards done at last! One thing ticked off the list. I got little miss to write some of her birthday thank you messages as well so technically that's two things off the list"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney4
