It's possible - it just has to become a priority and your OH needs to be willing...
DH being willing is a big issue, but aside from that, it's the logistics as it wouldn't be possible in the week as he leaves for work too early to even use breakfast club, so it would have to be at a weekend and the kids would be unhappy about it too.  Never say never, and things should get easier when my family move back and we have the opportunity for some assistance.

You may be already aware but you can back up the non Amazon books to your computer/laptop then upload to your new device.

Kindle fires are usually about £40 on black Friday, I like to have a spare.... The battery life isn't as good as a classic but they double up as an inexpensive tablet (their primary purpose really) so in the days we could travel I found it really useful for looking things up - opening times of museums, bus times etc
Hmmm, good thinking.  I already have the books backed up, but there was probably a good 1500 or more of them.  If I could back up just the ones that are left on the kindle then that might be less of a hassle - thank you!  I shall look into it. :)

I do have a very old kindle fire which I don't use.  I also have the kindle app on my phone and Ipad (which I got so I could access the library apps).  So I have the backups which is fine, but I just prefer the classic as it doesn't feel like a screen in the same way that reading on a tablet does.  I'm watching closely for Black Friday deals though, and hoping that the kindle will come down.  I don't want one of the fancy expensive ones, I'm happy just for the basic one so fingers crossed!  DH's going to get it for me as a Christmas present, so it's his money I'm spending :D I'll keep mine going as long as I can, but it will be nice to have one ready to go.

Perfect Christmas present for me, no real 'stuff' but something I can get many hours of joy from :)

Hope everyone is well :)  It's been a hectic week.

I am being so spendy at the moment, mostly not particularly frivolous, but equally not particularly essential!

I've spent a fortune replacing my period pants as they had gone.  I did question whether to spend it or not but my aim for sustainability and reduced waste won out.  They are so comfortable and easy to use so it's worth it really but at over £100 a bundle it's not cheap!

We bought a new fire stick.  It's loads better than the previous one and much faster.  Even DH has managed to figure it out, so it looks like we won't need to buy a new You View box.  So that's good and a lot cheaper at £21 especially when I had vouchers!

We went to a fireworks display last weekend, and that was nice. £10 for us all.

I've got the kids some clothes towards their Christmas presents, and bought a few toys in the Sainsbury's sale.  A couple of items for the kids, a couple of bits to put away towards birthday party presents.  I also got some more school shirts for them.

I bought a couple of kindle books which were on deal, and I've paid £1.99 for a month's subscription to Disney Plus. It can be cancelled at any time, so we can try it for a month and watch as much as we can!

I bought a couple of jumpers as mine were not really suitable for the office (though I'll keep them for at home as they aren't worn out yet).

Later this month is little miss's birthday so we've got to pay for her party (a one-off) and I just need to get her kindle.  I'm kicking myself for not getting it while it was on offer, but I'm still hopeful it will come down again.

Next month is car insurance, dentist and obviously Christmas.  I'm actually reasonably organised for Christmas, have ordered our turkey joint.  So I'm hoping I won't have a lot to do by December.

In good news, whatever the issue with my kindle battery was seems to have resolved itself.  I'm not sure what was happening, but it seems to be holding it's charge again.  I'd still like a spare, but DH can wait until there's a good deal so no hurry.

That's all (that I can remember for now!)  So I will have to cut back again in the new year.

Quiet weekend planned this weekend.  I had my implant replaced on Thursday and had my booster in the same arm yesterday so shall rest it up this weekend.  Luckily I don't feel bad after my booster, hopefully it will continue!

I need to tidy up, hopefully get the kids to sort some more, and do some listing.

Have a good weekend everyone :)

Wow you've been busy, busy, busy. All sounding positive though. Great news on the kindle. Good that you've had your booster...

I spoke too soon about my Kindle 😭  On Sunday evening I switched it on and it looked like there was a serious case of screen burn.  I tried resetting it a couple of times but to no avail.  Had a look on Dr google on Monday, and it looks as though the screen has cracked inside (it's not cracked on the outside), so it's terminal.

So thanks to peb :) I have backed it up onto the computer, and now have to try and figure out how to wipe it as I cant access the menu on the device.  I don't know if removing it from my amazon account is enough to do that.

I haven't replaced it yet as I'm still holding out for a deal.  The current black friday deals end today, so I'm hopeful that something will come up soon. I can get 20% off and a £5 voucher if I trade it in though, so will do that if necessary.  I'm using my ipad at the moment, and it has confirmed to me that I definitely prefer the kindle for reading at bedtime.  I still always have a paper book on the go too, so I'm not bereft!

I've just managed to switch little miss's swimming lessons to a Saturday too, so hurrah!  That will free up Sundays and means she can parkrun again :)
