crazy_cat_lady said:Phew... My fitter (lovely man called Dave) has repaired the floor and is going to put plywood on top of it before the actual flooring goes in. He's also put some extra supports in under the bath to be extra safe. Hopefully that isn't a narrative on my weight.

Any good bathroom fitter should put the bath on to spread supports, a bath rarely sits nicely on the joists so by spreading the load on planks/blocks that span the joists it makes it safer. They also used to cut the wall in slightly so the lip of the bath sits in so when tiled the water cant get down the side of the bath (Also helps support the bath). But decent fitters are hard to find now as most people change their bathroom every few years rather than them lasting 20+ years that they should.

Morning all
Apologies for not checking in yesterday - I had a busy day yesterday as far as busy goes at the moment. I'd fallen behind with school work and spent a long time doing that, as well as my suicide awareness training, and monitoring the bathroom and going into dd's school with her to meet her tutor and discuss how things are going in the land of home education.
Anyway, the bathroom is moving on at a cracking rate. The floor and ceiling are in, the walls are almost done and the bath is plumbed in with loads of wood holding it up. It's an L shaped bath so even heavier with just water in it before you put my excess baggage in there. I do think people underestimate how heavy a bath of water will be - I don't as it's something I try and teach the kids at school. My lovely fitter has continued to be lovely and I'm really pleased with the job he's doing. He reckons it may even be finished today, which would be lovely because my hair is beyond disgusting now I'm on day 3 without washing it. And I have a Z00m meeting at 11 -However, I was sold something which I discovered yesterday wasn't included. Just an extractor - it's no big deal as I have a window in the bathroom - but I have spoken to them about it. Apparently I haven't been charged for an extractor but I was told there would be one at the original sales pitch... I don't want to pay the amount I was quoted whether or not the extractor was included because that's what I was told I would get. We'll see what happens because she is checking back with her salesman. The fitter says to go back and put one in will be a massive job so it's unlikely to happen. I don't care, but I don't want them getting away with telling me I was getting it and then not giving me it. I hope that makes sense when I read it back. I'm hoping they'll either give me something else in return, or knock a bit of money off what I'm paying. We shall see...
As I say I had an appointment with dd's form tutor yesterday - just a general catch up. I think they were chasing up kids that aren't engaging with work, but that definitely doesn't apply to dd. We've done everything that has been set so far - I have even started to attempt to help with poetry. He was full of praise for her anyway, and checking that she's ok within herself. She's an introvert though, and quite anxious (just like her mother) so she's always quite quiet and doesn't have a big circle of friends at school so not missing out there - just missing seeing her bestie which we can do something about when the weather is nice. If only ds were as motivated as dd is. It's been a struggle to get him to do anything at all so far this week - even reading. But he's next to me at the moment finally looking at Goodnight Mister Tom.
Best be getting on I suppose. Lots to do again today - deadlines looming and me sitting on here.

Your bathroom sounds lovely. I am utterly green with envy. - Who is your mum bubbled up with? Just wondering if you can nip over there for a shower while you wait for the silicone to cure or whatever needs to 'cook' or harden up.
