I don't know about you CCL but I tend (somewhat stupidly!) to assume teachers are an educated/informed bunch who would be rational and logical and not anti vaxxers or covid deniers. The whole going back to work thing however has sort of opened my eyes a bit, my friends feel the same as me, take the least risk, wear masks as much as possible (most of the kids don't) and keep the windows open, however one member of SLT just doesn't care AT ALL. and it is horribly confusing.
have a good week XXXNevertheless she persisted.12 -
CCL, it really is getting to us all now. It can't not be having an effect on morale. I too am heading for another Lockdown birthday, although if I check the rules, it may be that I can meet a couple of friends outside in a park by then, I will have a proper look & may bake a cake to take if this is possible. I did think there would be a big 2nd wave in the UK....there was just too much dithering & mismanagement plus foreign travel/no quarantine arrangements, etc, for that not to happen. But I did think we would be broadly 'back to normal -ish' by this Easter. You are very definitely not alone in being utterly fed up with it all. I have not seen my family since Christmas 2019. I am aware, however, that I have not had the horrendous stress of working in the NHS, have received a vaccine, have maintained an income, have a roof over my head, a garden for fresh air & exercise, & my physical health for walking, cycling, etc. I haven't had Covid & I haven't lost anyone to it. I think we are at the point where we need to tell ourselves this on a daily basis & just get on with it......nothing lasts for ever...it WILL pass, but I'd be lying is I said I wasn't sometimes having a proper moan about it all, though! Roll on the day........I think we do have a way to go yet......still lots of vaccinations to do & (here's the difficult bit...) people are going to have to try not to be senseless idiots until this thing is properly under control. Johnson will also need to 'grow a pair' around the issue of border control to keep the UK's pandemic recovery on track. That will mean making unpopular decisions because the first rule of government is to keep its people safe, not to to be 'liked'.
But we are all well fed up, m'dear, so am posting to tell you I am commiserating with you.

Evening everyone...
Not quite sure how I've survived the day. Year 10 just about finished me off this afternoon and I left work as soon as humanly possible. Of course it means that I've been working all evening since I got home - but rather that than stay in school being miserable. It has been one of those 'death by ten thousand paper cuts' types of day. Everything seems to have bothered me, and all of this remembering 'one year to the day' since we locked down hasn't helped the mood. Thank god that the sun has been out today and I managed to get a bit of fresh air during the day - only a 20 minute walk but at least it was a bit of something during my free this morning.
I am pleased that I'm not the only one feeling like this, but isn't it sad that we're all struggling a bit now. Really, the incompetence of the government is particularly troubling for me. I've never had much faith in them but I just don't see an end in sight at the minute. I see cases starting to go up again since schools went back, although 'touch wood' fewer hospital cases and deaths. It all just feels so painful and pointless at the minute - we aren't much further forward than we were this time last year. I think I've pinned my hopes a bit too much on the vaccination... Isn't it just really draining after all the effort of the past year?
Buffy - imagine being a scientist working for a scientist that doesn't believe in vaccination and told me that pineapple juice would be a good treatment for cancer. It makes literally no sense at all to me. Each to their own, but I do sometimes feel as though I get an opinion I'm not interested in forced upon me a little bit. Ah well.
So today I've gotten a load of washing done and dried on the line. Washed dishes and tidied the kitchen, and school worked my little socks off. I wish I could just rid myself of this little raincloud that seems to have settled above my head at the moment. Early night, hopefully a good sleep and a brighter outlook in the morning.
Sorry to be a bit whingey - just the current mood unfortunately. Not giving up

Is there any way you can avoid all conversation with the twerps? And only expend energy talking to the sensible people?

Can you suggest a Darwin section to be included on the curriculum? What would Charles think about Pineapple Juice curing cancer? Why would we think that?Does applying warm treacle cure epilepsy? Will sniffing an orange stop you dying from the plague? All stuff people thought, but then SCIENCE came and EXPLODED ALL OVER THEM. They became 'Enlightened' and put away silly ideas. If these things were really miracle cures, why does it not say so on the packet? Why is the owner of Nurofen richer than the Man from Del Monte? Not everyone in a white jacket is a doctor kids! Even if they do say Yes!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Evening all.
Another struggler of a day at work yesterday unfortunately but I survived it. Went out for a long walk after school with the deputy head. It was only supposed to be a brisk walk - but we ended up doing over 5 miles and I was out for a couple of hours. I felt a load better afterwards, and thought that I'd sleep much better too. Alas I still woke up every hour during the night, so apart from post exercise tired I'm also actually properly worn out tired, and my ankle is sore again. So more of the same in terms of general grumpiness today. I'm desperate to get to bed and properly rest, and wake up in the morning feeling properly rested as well.
Six more school days to go - I can do this. Just remembered that I need to do my LFT before school tomorrow as well so I had better get that on the go while I remember.
There's not much else to report, other than relief at not being alone in feeling that life is just a bit pants at the minute. Not giving up
