Morning all
Sorry I've been so quiet. I thought that the hols would arrive and I'd catch up on here daily. I thought that I'd be like I was in lockdown - getting up, doing my morning jobs then being on here etc. Nope. Got home late Thursday night, had a couple of gins and went to bed. Then went out early Friday morning for a walk with a work friend. We ended up walking 10k - which is the furthest I've ever managed to walk in one go. So I was very chuffed with that...And I've discovered a couple of stretches to do afterwards that help my poorly foot. Doesn't stop it hurting altogether but seems to help it recover quicker. Christened my new walking boots and fleece. However, I did get pooped on by a bird while I was out. My mam used to tell me that was lucky - but I didn't feel like it at the time. Thankfully it was on the new fleece and actually not on me.
That left me fairly tired for the rest of the day - went out with dd and did some grocery shopping for the week ahead, and then got on with my massive job list (23 items). Managed to get most of them done, but then was in bed and ready for sleep by 9pm. I don't know if it was the end of term or the long walk but I slept wonderfully. I felt pretty decent when I woke up yesterday morning, and did the stretches on my foot so I was up and about. Finished most of the to-do list - just 5 jobs left on it, but I expect that there will be more to add as the days go on. Decided I would have a day sitting in front of the telly and rewatching series 2 of Keeping Faith as I can't seem to keep up with the new series as it's so long since I've seen it. So I had a day of crochet and telly watching and felt incredibly guilty about it. I hate the guilt I have when I have a day of doing nothing. Couldn't be bothered to go walking but figured I didn't need to after Friday. I need to get back on track with my food - I've been struggling with that since my birthday because I had such a blow out on the day. Lost my way a little bit but now need to find it.
Off to see my mam today for Easter lunch. No eggs for me, but I still have a couple of cake bites left from birthday treats during the week. I wanted to get up and go walking early this morning but I woke up at 4am and decided that was a bit too early to go walking. Was awake for about 90 mins then fell back to sleep again until almost 9am. Unfortunately I have a couple of online things on a Sunday morning so I won't be walking until later this afternoon if at all.
Looks like I have a load of catching up to do on here so I'm off to have a look and see what everyone has been up to.
If you have the sun today enjoy, because it looks like it's going to snow tomorrow. Not giving up

Morning
I have discovered a pattern. I have one day when I get loads done and am really busy, followed by a day off for recovery. That's what happened Friday/Saturday then Sunday/Monday. So that means that today is a busy day. I've written a new jobs list - there are 18 on there so far, but I am a bit limited at the moment as I'm waiting for an engineer to arrive to look at the broadband. Again. It still keeps slowing down and dropping out and ds is most unhappy about this. As both kids are still sleeping I need to make sure that I'm home until they arrive and within earshot of them knocking (so not in the garden). I'm a bit bothered that I haven't had confirmation since I booked the appointment 3 weeks ago but it does say online that I should expect an engineer today between 8 and 1. We shall see.
So I got up, got dressed, changed litter trays, fed the cats, swept the floors and washed the dishes, only to discover that none of those jobs were on my list. I feel cheated! I've put a couple of frogs on there - phone calls that I've been putting off for ages but can't keep ignoring. I need to give myself a kick up the bum and get started with some of the other stuff. I feel like I've been up and about for ages but am not any further forward with anything. So I should make a start - there are plenty of little house jobs I can be getting on with.

Well I have been a bit of a busy bunny the past few days.
I walked 7.5 miles yesterday. 7.5 MILES!!! I think I might have gone further too except my sore ankle refused to let me walk any further at all. I have the stretches and everything but it was just too much. That means that in the past week I have walked a grand total of 24.5 miles. Which I am kind of proud of but also feel absolutely broken and shattered today. It was a bit of a challenge but I'm pleased I've done it. And I have also crossed an awful lot of jobs off the list over the week. And even better than that it still feels like it's early on in the holidays as well, because I still have another week
I made the annoying calls on the list, and I have a phone appointment tomorrow about my sore ankle - hopefully I'll get some more useful suggestions and ideas to go with or at very least a proper face to face appointment. Though I don't think it's that important in the grand scheme of things at the moment that I get face to face with someone.
I appear to have somehow gotten a glut of cabbage that I need to get rid of. Last time I order a veggie box from door to door salesmen. I have 2 white cabbages, spring greens, a savoy cabbage and a bag of Brussels sprouts. And I'm not much into cruciferous veggies if I'm completely honest. I've made a massive bowl of coleslaw but any other ideas would be appreciated.
Other than that - nothing to report. Resting, relaxing, staying on top of the housework, catching up with crochet, walking lots. We haven't been anywhere or done anything. Managed to get a hairdresser appointment for 19th. That cannot come soon enough. Not giving up

We love stir fried cabbage, garlic and bacon lardons - in fact I’m annoyed as on my Asda order tonight they’ve told me the cabbage and the bacon is missing? How does a huge Asda run out of these ?.....Sealed pot challenge 822

The white cabbages will keep for WEEKS as long as they are somewhere cool.My kids were raised on cabbage and bacon with mashed potatoes, then anything left over gets made into bubble and squeak burgers and frozen (with spring onions). Great with sausages and gravy as a quick weekday meal.Bacon and pork goes really well with all cabbagey types.Brussels thinly sliced are great stir fried too - soy sauce loves them.White cabbage goes really well with apple, carraway seeds and cider or white wine in a kind of Polish Hunter's stew with sausage (Bigos). You could make sauerkraut if you fancied going into the magical mystical realms of fermented food, or pickled cabbage, or you could take the big green leaves, and make meat stuffed steamed cabbage parcels.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
