Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

That was the most poignant and heartbreaking image from the whole funeral. My grandparents were married for 73 years and my grandmother was utterly devastated, at my grandfather’s funeral to the point we all were sat around her, arms around her ( pre Covid) ...for anyone to have to go through such depths of grief with no one next to her is dreadful beyond words. Given that the Queen and presumably her older children have been vaccinated, it’s a shame that some compassion couldn’t have been exercised.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . This week's use-up-food is the most enormous turnip that I have ever seen in my life. When I was a kid I had a book called The Enormous Turnip and it made me think of that. Except I don't think anyone outside of the North East of England calls them turnips. I think that you call them swedes (but they will always be turnips to me). I remember when I lived in Surrey and saw 'real turnips' and they were the size of tomatoesFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I thought swede was orangey in colour and turnip was purpley-white. I've been grating up my Swedes (autocorrect put in the capital and pluralized it. Personally, I don't grate up the northern people in my slaw. Usually...) for coleslaw for the last few months, so I bet you could do the same with the turnip.

Yes it's the orange one apple. Swede, but turnip to me. This is all a bit confusing, apple and orange and swede and turnip. I swear this one is bigger than my head (and my head is freakishly large
.)
Just back from garden lunch with my mam. Lovely as always and I feel less rubbish than I did earlier, although still not great. DD has just stopped me from going out walking because I felt a bit better and thought I 'should'. I'm not doing so well at just sitting here and 'relaxing' before going back to work tomorrow.
I'm watching Lost with dd (again) and patiently waiting for Line of Duty, a shower and an early night. I think I am hormonal - I am craving an awful lot of sweet treats at the moment. Not giving up

We are also looking forward to 'Line of duty'. I don't think I'll get much bedspread knitted - I shall need to concentrate!

....and rhe man pulled, and rhe woman pulled, and rhe boy pulled, and the girl pulled, and the dog pulled, and the cat pulled, and the tiny mouse pulled and then they all had turnip for dinner, and breakfast, and lunch, and supper and everyone hated turnip forevermore and they didnt have a freezer, so they pickled the rest and nobody wanted that either4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I actually love that so many of you have read the Enormous Turnip. I knew they got it out of the ground in the end with everyone working together.
Finally made it to the hairdressers yesterday. I swear I feel about half a stone lighter for getting rid of the bushy Christmas Tree that was starting to grow there. Properly pampered by my hairdresser as I was the last appointment of the day - I had a head massage and everything. Much needed after surviving the first day back at work - which was tougher than I expected it to be. The kids are very much out of routine and some have clearly done nothing for the past year except get bored and get into trouble because they have no appetite for learning, just chatting and starting arguments. And I'm really not sure how many of my Year 11 are bothered that I am looking for evidence to award grades because some of them still can't manage to put pen to paper for me. I have repeatedly said that I will give them what they are worth - no more and no less. Some of them think that means I will make sure they all pass whether or not they deserve it. It does not. Unfortunately they think I'm joking when I say it because it's obviously a poor reflection on me if they don't pass. Ah well. Some will unfortunately never learn.
I can't actually believe how tired I am again already. I intended to be in bed before 9 last night but dd wanted to talk about getting a job once she's finished school and before she starts college. So that went on for a bit longer than I thought. I was still asleep by half ten, although woken up lots during the night so I don't feel that well rested again.
As I have no immediate plans after school tonight other than marking I am going to make sure I go out walking for an hour. Not long enough to be ridiculous but long enough to get some exercise and de-stress. I'm hoping I can convince the kids to do a couple of bits in the house so that I have less to do once I get home. Just making the chicken curry soup thing, walking and marking. Tuesday is my busiest day at work and I'm always quite stressed out and tearful when I get home. So I think I need to plan happy thingsNot giving up

What is your DD thinking between school & college?
