good luck DIA - glad my padlock antics (on my diary) bought you some cheer
I miss the sea more and more every day - so unless its a really up and down sort of seaside (talking about hills not waves), I would definitely let that shift the focus of my search. I'm not prying but you have me intrigued about location, although the art scene clue doesn't narrow it down too much, as it is common for seaside and creative pursuits to coexistI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thanks @MovingForwards, the new area meets my criteria and isn't really a compromise just a different option that I hadn't previously considered.
Thanks @beanielou
Thanks @mark55man. Neither of the new areas are far from the sea. One is minutes to walk, the other a 20 minute bus/car journey. Like you I miss the sea...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Sorry to hear about your relative. Hope things pick up. Good luck with the new search and hope you manage to get some relaxation time this weekend x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I'm turning down all social contact again today. I need to regain my energy by being by myself and having some quiet time. I did not manage anything on my list yesterday even though it wasn't much! The plan today:
Read my book in the park for at least 30 minutes! (I want to start doing this daily)
Visit the Farmer's Market
Do ONE refund letter and post (doing this task as one a day instead of several)
Check on the laundry opening hours
Buy a paper
Buy lots of fruit and veggies (Supermarket + Farmer's Market)
Bake a tray of veggies
A little bit of banking
Printing and doing some prep work for work
That is it...
I hope everyone is okay.

Sometimes we try and do too much and in response the brain stops. Perhaps work out smaller lists, then if you're having a great day getting through it you can move another item or two from another day.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.7

Sorry things are a struggle - and that your relative is so poorly.
Good news on the fellowship. Cheaper houses where you get more for less near the coast sound idyllic,
My kids regularly smash phones - usually the glass is fixable (replaceable) for between £50 and £100 by dedicated phone shops or market stalls. Typically takes less than an hour if they can slot you in.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

my favourite sea side haunts (not very original) are
* St Ives in Cornwall (and that end of Cornwall generally)
* Tenby in Wales - just love it - but always try and see both Mumbles and a new spot along the Gower whenever we go
* Northumberland cost - stayed near Berwick and in Amble - ie either end of the county, preferred Amble and like SeaHouses and the Islands
* South coast generally from Poole/Bournemouth, up to Brighton
Maybe if you are close and its not too cold - just take a flask and sit by the sea for a bit - or promenade a bit - that should blow the cobwebs outI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thanks @jwiland @Seasidegal58 for your encouragement and good wishes for@savingholmes
Thanks @MovingForwards
Thanks @mark55man.I am currently living in a city so no hope of the sea right now. Partly why I want to move as a blowy walk by the sea is just what I need right now. Your list of favourites is great. I have never been to St Ives but Cornwall is very dear to me. I have many friends there and used to visit regularly.
After 2 quiet days in a row I have woken feeling much better able to cope. The fightback as usual began with soup making (veg, lentil and bacon)
I weighed myself. I have added just under a kilo. I thought it would be worse as I feel I have been eating so badly. I will start weighing in and logging my weight again as it works for me. I will add in a daily walk. I haven't been doing so since I moved here.
Yesterday I found out when the laundry opens so I can start going once a week. It is very close by so that is good. I am happy to buy my relative a new washing machine but I want to see if she is likely to come back here or go to somewhere with more support first.
I sorted a few banking issues and did a little paperwork yesterday. Not much but that is ok.
Still looking at potential houses. The flat I am living in now is East facing and I came from a South facing house. I would not choose an East facing home as even when sunny outside I find it too dark. I am constantly looking at new home possibilities. It would be easy to settle for anything right now as tired, unsettled and want my own home again. ( But I won't do that)
It is a nice day here, must go for a walk.
Have a good Easter Sunday everyoneIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
