Congratulations on exchange and you sound as if you are getting organised. 3 weeks is a decent time frame. Our stuff was in storage for 3 months when we moved from Surrey to Cornwall and it worked very well. We were living in a furnished cottage so only took clothes, toys for children and personal items. Presumably the flat you will be living in is furnished so almost everything can go into storage?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. You are so organised already . Have a great decluttering weekend..
mark55man said:Yes another diary should definitely be considered, as much of this one has been getting yourself in a position to make the move, then getting it done. I'm sure you'll come up with something once you're settled in, until then we'll keep reading here as and when you have a spare minuteMovingForwards said:Don't forget to look at local removal firms, not just the big national ones.
For now, keep de-cluttering and packing, everything will fall into place next month 🤗savingholmes said:So glad you have a decent amount of time to finish packing. Don't just rely on boxes either - those big woven type carrier bags or ones with zips can be useful for bedding, clothes, curtains etc.

Thanks @RosaBernicia
@enthusiasticsaverI am organised but it still feels like a mammoth task and I have 2 weeks really as I am away caring for a relative for a whole week! The flat is furnished so I will only be taking personal items. I have travelled in the past so will take my long distance travel suitcase with personal stuff and clothes and that will be all.

Oh DIA it's really happening, what a journey you have been on in the past few years and the next chapter is starting very soon . Don't panic , accept any offers of help if you get any . Having moved 3 times in the last 11 years I have managed it and if I can anyone can. My biggest tip is get rid of anything you know you won't use or wear again, but you have been doing that anyway.Have a good Sunday .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.8

Yesterday I did not pack anything as I don't have anything to pack into. I didn't go out at all as I have had a headache for a few days and did not feel up to it. Instead I had a lovely bath and changed my bedlinen. Still groggy today. I also need to prep for a week of caring. I'm no use if I am struggling.
Today's tasks
I will call BB/telephone and also do my PO redirection.
If I pick up energy I will go in search of those big zippy bags for packing clothes/shoes/linens.
I will identify another 2 removals companies/people
I will take all my paintings down, wrap and tie up together
I will call Wilk0 about the incorrect delivery and rearrange
I haven't eaten since yesterday early afternoon and there is a chicken and root veggies on the go already
Clothes have been washed and are drying on the radiator with the dehumidifier going.
Everywhere is a mess and I need it to be a bit more organised as the removal man will be here at nine to quote
I'll leave it there, as AC often says

I can't really recommend any movers - its been decades, but my more socially mobile friends have used Bishop's move with some success, but then they were moving in a diagonal sort of direction (joke! the recommendation is real)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Clothes on hangers can be laid flat on the bed, then roll 5 at a time round the hangers (fold top of hanger down the width of the hanger and continue so you end up with a flattish roll). Put them in a box or binbag (label it so it doesn't get thrown out - a friend's husband did a tip run after their move and he threw all her towels and bedding onto the tip with the rubbish, she sent him back but the scavengers already had them). They will come out at the other end with no wrinkles. DS3 had loads of cosplay costumes (very heavy because all the accessories/ layers were on one hanger -they were the binbagged ones). I used the same technique on mum's clothes when she moved to the bungalow (rolled then in boxes as one of her partner's daughters brought boxes from work). Herb and spice jars can be put inside large saucepans (I double bagged and taped mine as DS1 had one jar empty all over everything in his saucepan. Don't forget to use any bags you already have including rucksacks. Teatowels can be used to wrap glass or china or separate semi - fragile stuff. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6

Once you've had your breakfast , I'm sure you'll feel a bit better DIA 😼
Regarding removal companies : I googled a few local ones . I wasn't too sure about some of them . I left my email address with some ( plus mobile no,) . One or 2 kept pestering me
One or 2 I tried couldn't do the dates I quoted . Some get booked very quickly .If I remember correctly , the chaps I eventually got ( who were brilliant ) , came over a day or 2 before to assess what they had to contend with .Within this present climate, you may find some companies who may bite your hand off for business 🐕
If you get desperate for packing equipment , argos do same day delivery on many items .
I'll leave it there 😼...6
