There's something very relaxing and spirit lifting hearing the natural songs.
Either downside your books, or embrace them. Doesn't have to be a whole room dedicated to them, a corner of a room with bookcases / shelves and a nice comfy chair will do. Maybe one to think of when you're house hunting again.
I found having a section allocated to something, makes it a lot more pleasurable. It also means when walking away from it, there is that separation in our lives.
Good luck with the work.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.10 -
Belated congratulations on your bursary DIA!🍾
Re books - I love 'em and had loads. However when I moved into my flat some years ago I realised I just had too many - my living room was very cluttered with them and no spare room for extra storage. I actually dislike clutter around me so eventually invested in a kindle. I got rid of all the novels to the charity shop - I would say that 70% of these I wouldn't have read again. The remaining novels I do read again I replaced on kindle. Those books that were left were reference, biographies, cookery books, etc. I had a good weed out of these and found that I could fit what was left on my bookcase. From then on I have bought all new novels and any cookery books on kindle. I also have a kindle app on my iPad so that I can view any reference or cookery books in colour. I do buy biographies and history books still in hardback as I like the idea of keeping bookshops going. I love the kindle though - it's just so easy to use - the screen is bright to read from and you can adjust the font larger and smaller as you wish. It's great to take away with you too as it's so light (I have a couple of hundred books on there at the moment) and you can also download new books when you are away if you wish.It might be worth a think. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I used to be in the thousands of books category too but have largely replaced them with ebooks and audio books. Like Seaside gal wrote - it does mean I can adjust the font size too and have them with me wherever I go.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks @MovingForwards, @Seasidegal58 and @savingholmes. You all make good points about books.
I am a regular book declutter(er) I've never had thousands! I probably have more books than any other category of things. I cull them on a regular basis and all the remaining books I have I am keeping. They are much loved. I don't want a corner for books. I am happy being surrounded them as long as they are nicely shelved.
I have a Kindle that I rarely use so may start using it more. Good idea @Seasidegal58 to use it for cookery books. I hadn't thought of that. I must start listening to audio books more too...
On other non book related news, I finally ordered some packing boxes. It's weird as I have to assume contracts will be exchanged and pack some stuff, but nothing is guaranteed so I hope I'm not being premature...Thanks to @another_casualty and @savingholmes for storage box suggestions.

Wow DIA what a week. So pleased you got the bursary. Sounds like you know how to manage your work with all the ups and downs. It will be worth it in the end.
Glad the packing is going ok. Was just thinking that books are a good insulator for a house. Justifies having them all around the walls!!!!!
Worked a long day yesterday, but the added bonus is leaving at 8pm to go to the local Mr T's and getting all the reduced fish & meat. Need to do that again. Shame the M&S food closes at 8.
Catching up today. Hubbie has done most of the washing. Sun is out yippie!!!
Have a good week. Moving in the right direction.

Glad you finally have some boxes on the way. It is good to start packing. Part of the mental leave-taking from a place and preparing for a new home.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks for all the positive comments @Humdinger1, @moneyonmymindsam, @Mrs_Boo_Boo and @savingholmes
So, where am I?
Well the good news is the kilo I added I have got rid of and I am now a tantalising 1.3 pounds before I am into my next stone and my lightest weight in 6 years
I am cocooned in my little study with a heater as it is super cold. I will stay here until nightfall when I will transfer to my bedroom and the warmth of my bed!
There is no soup of the day. I am having a leftovers day ad there is soup in the fridge.
I spoke to the EA and we still have stalemate. Both solicitors are waiting to hear from the other so I emailed my solicitor to ask them to speak to the other side and see if a compromise is possible on the sticking point?
I have lots of work that needs doing today so I am ready when my new work programme begins.
Wishing you all a good weekIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
