Yes Wednesday, I do normally go on a Health Walk every week. In my area they are on most days with different leaders in different parts of the city. Unfortunately, they all stopped back in March and haven't restarted. Its odd because we could easily space out and I know that Ramblers has restarted. I got involved because I know the person who organises the Thursday walk and I enjoy the exercise and chatting as we go round but I suppose those who really do go for 'health' reasons might be vulnerable. I might get DH to commit to a regular walk if it doesn't restart. I like having a plan.😊
Sun has now gone, it's thundering an tipping down with rain. 😕6 -
Good Morning lovely ladies.Maman my lockdown is ok. Felt a bit miffed yesterday, not quite angry but just a tad resentful. Not enough to go into full blown rebellion....yet.😂🤣. Watched Boris and tbh the new restrictions are no worse than the way I have been spending the last six months, whilst shielding DIL. My actual real life social life has been practically nil since March anyway. No cafes, restaurants, pubs, cinema. It's ok, I have managed well enough, I can do another 6 months.I don't think I'm gaga just yet........but then how would I know. 😂🤣
Once the baby is here we can relax a bit, although obviously that it will depend on what's happening "out there". DIL is already planning afternoon tea at our favourite hotel. And when DS and DIL thanked me for going giving up my freedom and going into lockdown with them I just said "no problem, you can buy my a slap up lunch at my favourite bistro".DIL and GS are scheduled to visit here later today whilst DS tries to do some work. They had to take GS out of nursery again. The Caesarian is pencilled in for week commencing 12th October so nearly there. It's been a long haul for them and I have to commend them, especially DIL. She doesn't have easy pregnancies and COVID has meant all sorts of sacrifices but she has risen to the challenge. I take my hat off to her. She's very uncomfortable now so we are just looking forward to when it's over .I have kept busy, mainly in the garden making the most of the last few warm days and I have had nice phone calls with friends. Finished the John Lennon book. It's was a whopper, almost 700 Pages of very small print. I have to say by the time I got to the end I was so sorry for him. I know he was no saint, he could be violent and cruel and obviously a very flawed human being but I was shocked to read how people exploited and used him. Not hard to see why he became a paranoid recluse, pretty much like Howard Hughes in the end,Anyway all in all my lockdown hasn't been too bad so far although of course I will be glad to get my life back. One day, 😉 Unlike Lennon I'm not quite ready for a hermits existence. Now that the gardening season is coming to an end I shall transfer my efforts to indoors. A bit of painting, reupholster some chairs and a good declutter, starting with my clothes. Probably tackle the wardrobes next week. Its quite chilly here so I am wearing some of my new inter season one mile clothes today. Some soft warm lounging trousers and a lightweight knit long sleeve top in a warm brushed cotton. Nice and cosy. Nothing fancy but presentable enough. A light daytime make up and a squirt of perfume. In fact today I used up the last of the Gucci that DS2 bought me. It's a bit heavy for me, I prefer something a bit lighter but I hadnt got the heart to tell him so I've dutifully worn it and now I've finally used it all.Just had a call from DS, he's coming too. Apparently DIL can't drive, she can't get behind the steering wheel. 😂 Bless her. I remember that happened to me too. The joys of motherhood. 😌6 -
Good to hear that DIL is thinking about plans after the baby is born. ☺️
Like you (except for current situation), we'll be carrying on much as we have been. I know the government is trying to balance health v economy but I think they are doing both badly. Except for a few irresponsible people, I think that as long as the messages are confused, conjured up in secret and defy logic they will have opposition. I've not heard the details of Rishi's plan yet but some of the unsustainable jobs are of the government's own making. Why, for example, can a restaurant take as many covers as safely possible but the same hotel dining room only have 15 for a wedding?? Then all the people involved in wedding events go out of business. ☹️
It's so easy for me to get angry about it all. I just can't accept things that don't make sense. 'Shut up and do as you're told' has never worked for me. 🤣

morning all. You have all been busy, charity shop buying and making plans to occupy yourselves in these crazy times. My Daughter is a little better, I visited twice yesterday, took her some more essentials and some lovely flowers to cheer her up! She hates being indoors, she is a work acholic!Covid still rife round here, lots of new cases. I wish it would just go away but thats not likely anytime soon5

Good morning lovely ladies....
Sheila.....glad to hear your daughter is a little better, hopefully she can shake it off fairly easily. Apparently we are at medium level here still, so no extra local restrictions.DIL downloaded the trace app thingy, she said she'd do it for me tomorrow. (They have invited themselves round again.....😂).I decided to nip to Aldi whilst the risks are still relatively ok ....went early, in and out in under 15 minutes flat.....no browsing down the Aisle of Dreams,😂. Just made a list and stuck to it. Trade was brisk and everyone was sticking to the distancing rules and wearing masks so it should be safe enough. I did read somewhere you could be next to someone for up to 15 minutes even if they weren't wearing a mask, provided they didn't sneeze or cough on you. Don't know how true that is.....There is so much conflicting information out there.Very cold here this morning but bright and breezy. Wore a wool coat for the first time today in months. Need to walk down to the post box in a bit, that, plus the Aldi trip will for my walk today. And of course will do some exercise as well.Going to have a cooking session for tomorrow. Thought I'd make a shepherds pie. One nice thing about going into autumn is I really like all the hearty comfort foods of autumn and winter. The wind is too cold for gardening really so Im going to have a paperwork sort out, so plenty to keep me busy.Wednesday.....lots of charity shop bargains there again. I didn't bother with the chazzers today.9 -
I'm glad your DD is feeling a bit better.
I know what I said about not buying more clothesbut I felt like going back this morning for a grey hand bag I saw yesterday. I ended up getting it and also a checked shirt that was in the men's section but I could see it was a women's top. Then I was going to pay but the man working there had stepped away and I thought I would look at the coat section. I found a size 14 Kangol black trench coat for £3. I was very happy with that.
I wore my black leggings, brown boots, black and white checked shirt and tan bag today. Silver hoop earrings. I bought breakfast from Coop on the way home. 8000 steps today. It does feel cooler but I was walking so I felt warm so I didn't need to wear a jacket. I love this time of year. I was looking at the leaves falling off the trees. I love Spring and Autumn the best.7 -
Sheila please your daughter is feeling better.
lessons lol about the aisle of dreams. I call it the aisle of crap but still end up buying stuff. Yesterday, we bought a cat scratching tower for the cat, from the aisle of crap. I had a £10 voucher for Lidl, so it wasn’t too expensive.
wednesday I am loving your fabbing updates and your bargain purchases.
DS hasn’t been at school for a few days, so I haven’t been able to have my nice leisurely week before starting my new job. My niece had to have a test for covid, she is a student and works part time in a supermarket. Luckily, the test came back negative.
i can see the stockpilers are out in force, here in London. The queue for Costco is huge and Home Bargains has a huge empty aisle where the loo roll was supposed to be. I heard that London is on the ‘watch’ list, so I suspect we will have further restrictions soon.6 -
Hello Ladies,
Shelia you must be so relieved that your daughter has begun to improve already. I wish her a full and speedy recovery.
Wednesday you have had some real luck in the charity shops. It is sometimes hard to resist a bargain that is only a want rather than a need
I have been buying myself a few items from eBay. I took delivery of my new sandals today. I managed to get them from eBay for only £8.30 including the post & packaging costs. The next cheapest on the Van Dal UK website was half price for £37.50 so I still saved myself £29.20. I love these sandals, always wanted them, but I had to wait for them to show up on eBay new and at a bargain price.
I went Lidl shopping this morning, as I wanted to buy some salmon fillets as they are one of the pick of the week bargains. I am looking forward to salmon fillets for my dinner tonight. In fact I had to do 2 trips to Lidl in Peckham as I can only manage a basket of shopping at a time and I wanted to stock up on Lidl's Cien Herbal Bath. It currently has a 10p per bottle price reduction so it is even better value than usual.
Chanie, I have noticed that Tesco has introduced measures in it's stores and online to try to prevent customers from stockpiling on household essentials. I do not go to Tesco stores, so I am not sure of their stock availability in stores. I have noticed that through the whole of the pandemic so far, the 3 Lidl stores that I use regularly do not have stock issues. Their supply chains must be a lot more effective than the larger supermarket chains.

Sheila, so pleased to hear that your daughter is recovering, hope she doesn't try and do too much .
Wednesday you are going to have to buy a bigger wardrobe at this rate ! just as well you had a clearout a few weeks ago.
Like maman I have given my 'one mile' clothes a bit of a boost, wore some new jeans and a bright pink puffer jacket when I walked into town today but it was so windy although I did like to see the leaves falling.
Had to go to Costco yesterday as we used the optician's there for the first time and were very impressed with the service but as you said chanie there was a bit of a queue to get in, we only wanted to collect our glasses and buy some coffee.
It seemed as though everyone had bought toilet rolls but I didn't buy any, when I popped into town this morning I called into Asda as I had forgotten a couple of things on my Tesco order, the flour isle was nearly bare I thought here we go again.
There are health walks from our local park every Friday, I haven't been on one as I walk everywhere anyway.
Sorry to hear you still have a lot of covid cases in your area Sheila, we're not doing too bad here but who knows what next week will bring.
Exciting times ahead LL you will certainly have someone to keep you occupied in the coming weeks, not long to go now.
Have a good weekend everyone, no late night partying haha chance would be a fine thing.

thanks everyone. I've called twice again today, before work, then later after I had been swimming and got her supplies. She is feeling better than she was. She decided to do some tidying in her spare room , she was very tired after only 20 mins. The G.P contacted her to make sure that she was ok and had someone to shop for her. She assured her that Mum was doing it.I feel fed up with it all, constantly hearing of more cases around here. It makes you wonder when it will all end.I dont want to have to fight for essentials. I took my Daughter 2 boxes of paracetemol. I probably have one more box in. I was buying them in Aldi, just putting a couple of boxes in when I called in.I suppose that the shelves are bare now!Everyone sounds busy. For me its been an extremely busy week. I must admit not looking forward to the winter with all these restrictions in place7
