Quest. My quest in 2020 is to pay £10k off our debt and never use the cc again - nothing paid off as yet this month all on DD

    Question everything.
Habits/routines - aiming to move more, break some bad eating habits, take a little more time for me
Plans - away 14 nights with work this month! Using the small amount of personal time to read, pamper and exercise

Ugly, unloved or unused will look to sell a couple of items in Jan and we have a lot of cardboard and other bits to remove from the garage - nothing done as yet

Exercise your mind and body. Not done any today

    Savings nothing

16 NSDS minimum. Aiming for at least 20 1/20 still on 1 as food shop at Aldi completed. Should last for 2 weeks as most was easy meals for DS and DH diet plan

Budget. decided to pay for garden collection out of next months pay not this months as incredibly tight this month. Will still get the discount if I pay before end of month.

Post at least three gratitudes daily please. Today I am grateful for:

    1) Rennies (other brands are available ;)) helping ease the lingering effects of being glutened
    2) My lovely new case turning up today so I can use it next week
    3) A new library book

Give. Money, time, food. There are others out there who need you! planning library and charity shop donations this month - not done yet

And look after yourself too. nothing today
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

NSD 3/16 :D. Managed to escape from work early and go for a lovely walk along the beach. Got rid of our ice cube tray, it broke in half a while back but was still useable, however, now completely cracked. £2 bank account reward has been paid towards the debt plus a whole 17p interest from 4 savings accounts :rotfl:
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.98

lcc86 - so sorry to hear about your dog.

SSDD23 - hope your hospital appointment goes well.

abundant - we have had 3 cars on PCP and won't do it again. We have just bought outright the current car and will be keeping that for a good long while now. It is a never ending cycle and you never own the car, my advice would be to keep the car you have if you like it, you've had it since new so you know it's been well looked after and it will be much more reliable than a £2k car, could you pay the £2k then look at a loan for the £3k, how would the payment on that figure compare to your current payment? Also take into account that starting again with a new PCP deal may mean a higher monthly payment than your current one - it ususually does.

DH has taken DD to work and when he gets back I think we are going for a run.

Had to increase my energy DD yesterday by £16/month as the current payment wasn't covering our useage, we are with Bulb and they suggested we raise it but said it was up to us, I appreciated that as in the past other suppliers have just put it up by huge amounts and told us that it was being done.

After running and a hot shower we have no firm plans for the day.

It is DS's birthday on Monday and he has requested a takeaway this evening, we always do something the weekend before birthdays. DH has £25 to spend from work in lieu of a Christmas outing, so he will be claiming that back from the takeaway spend.

  • Morning everyone

My January quest is to spend as little as possible & reduce my debt - like others say, to use up what we already have, and to use loyalty vouchers/points etc to keep spending to a minimum. I saved £2 coins for Xmas shopping and still have some left so will spend those too. I forgot to take them with me at times hence why I still have some left!
Question everything. Yep, every single thing. Am doing!
Ugly, unloved or unused = it goes out of your house to be beautiful, loved and used elsewhere. Stuff being added to charity bag - 1.5 bags so far....
Exercise your mind and body. We don’t have to do it; we get to do it.- been out for a walk everyday. Am buying some weights (planned expenditure) for exercise class I enjoy which re-starts on Weds and I can use them at home too. Have been reading most days. Finish stressful job soon (yay!!) but am going to continue my qualification as it is relevant to my small PT job too which i'm carrying on with alongside new FT job. Studying definitely exercises my little grey cells !
Savings (not sales, as I presume you have side-stepped around them unless you had planned and budgeted for something). Where can you save? Money. Time. Stress and anxiety. Waste. Plastic. I have hardly any savings but my priority continues to be reducing my debt. I plan to save time by batch cooking and meal planning. i hope changing my job will reduce my stress and anxiety.
Thankfulness I am posting 3 gratitudes each day :)

My cape will be a long sumptuous velvet cloak in dark aubergine which apart from being glamorous will be very warm as i'm mostly always cold up here in the NW!

Hope everyone has a great day

Morning Turtles, don't you all look lovely in your cloaks!:rotfl: Did you see the lady on University Challenge on Wednesday (I think) the one who looked like she was wearing a cloaky/cape and nothing else. The one whose face was a different colour to her neck? Very swish. I digress...
If I do this right this month, after looking at the money situation, if I go proper hardcore this month, I could clear £1k to my savings account.. Not often this happens, but the planets are aligned, the stars are in the right positions, and I am going for it.

Afternoon turtles, thanks for all your kind wishes about the dog, I try to look at the positives in that he had a long happy life, despite it being sad.

Today I've been on a bit of a mission, although I woke up late and then felt guilty for having a lie in despite it being the only one I get all week! I did a bit of a mindful body scan which I enjoyed, have put the Xmas decs back in the basement, had a bit of a tidy (not quite finished yet but plenty of time left in the weekend for cleaning). I bought some mould spray and tackled our bedroom window, it always gets mould round it at this time of year. Also bought some cheap white emulsion to go over some marks on the wall, and an anniversary card for OH. All planned spends and resisted the temptation to buy a candle just because it was cheap. :T

Have put a bag of clothes in the donations bin at the end of our road, and also recycled a few bits and bobs I know I won't be using. Will be listing a couple of things on ebay as well later.

Out for dinner tonight, all planned and accounted for. Need to workout now and then have some lunch.

abubdant re the car, I would be tempted to hand it back and buy my own, then use the money you're saving from finance payments towards any repairs, but check through your t's and c's, I used to work for a finance company and they had some shocking hidden penalties for handing your car back if it was over the agreed mileage or had any damage. And their definition of damage was basically anything not in brand new showroom condition! Alternatively if you like the car could you see if they'll refinance the final payment or get a loan as suggested?

Today I'm thankful for reading my book, doing a body scan, and nice sunny weather.
