Welcome lis1320, just checked out your cross stitch, the Sunlit Fox is gorgeous I love animal stitches, never done a Fox though. The Aurora cabin is very enchanting is it for Christmas? Congrats on teaching yourself crochet, I did too :) once you learn the basic stitches the word is your oyster, check out ravelry or just google search for lots of free patterns.
The fox was an impulse buy in Hobbycraft and came together quite quickly. It's on black aida and the fox is complete, now just doing the background bits which are not quite as fun to do. Then I decided to order Aurora Cabin and got so excited to start it, I completely abandoned the fox for the time being. The cabin however, is taking longer since I need to cross stitch the whole thing, whereas with the fox a lot of the background is just the aida as it is. Hope to have it done by Christmas. Then I will need to figure out how to frame!

Great that you are also crocheting. It's very addictive and I find makes come together so much quicker than knitting, plus you only ever have one loop on the hook, so no dropping stitches
That's exactly what I have found. I've been trying to knit a blanket for years but it takes me so long to make a square, whereas with the crochet I already have a bigger one with 2 weeks worth of work. Will try to get a nice amount of squares done during this half term break, but I'm finding I'm getting some aches and pains in my wrists and shoulder so may need to rest it a bit too.

Hi, I think I've over egged the lavender bag, it's just  I found them with a collection of lovely coloured suede and fabric gloves (so dates from people wore gloves) and have trouble parting with many things especially that I rescue from family :)  After posting did think I should just bin as you could make (or buy) new ones quite easily. Attached pic . I use lavender on my pillow and noticed some staining so wary of just adding lavender oil.
Love reading all your craft projects, and motivating me to try and do more - from a low skill base
TC I think they’re really pretty. It’s that sense of nostalgia I think they evoke. I’d be tempted to unpick a small part of the seam and refill with dried lavender using a funnel or paper cone. Then maybe sew a pretty cotton envelope in a fabric you like to keep them protected. I know you wouldn’t see them but you’d have the heart of them.
Hello and welcome to new members. I also get the wanties when I see everyone else’s projects but I will finish the sampler first. The Dimensions cross stitch kits are beautiful. I saw one called library but it says it’s a long project so I daren’t. Took me years to finish Harbourlights!!!

lis1320, my one and only time using black aida was for a tiger kit called Czar, I loved it but it's hard work.

My favourite stitch is Beautiful Dreamer, like Aurora Cabin all X Stitched, it took me over 2 years to complete it.

My lifetime project if I ever get around to it is Dreams Of Atlantis by Heaven & Earth Designs.

Lis being relatively new to cross stitch (last ten years), I didn’t really take on board the significance of stitching on black Aida but I get it now! Must be hard on the eyes 👀.
I’ll try and find a photo of Harbour Lights, now been framed and waiting to go on the wall.
nmm what an amazing pair of cross stitched pictures. I can see why you love Beautifyl dreamer, you feel like you could just stroke that fur.
Have you bought Dreams of Atlantis or daren’t you?
I’ve done a bit of stitching on the sampler - mummy and baby zebra completed, another butterfly and quite a lot of frames. I love stitching in the daylight when it’s too hot to be outside. That’s not very hot for me!!!!

I bought the fox in December and didn't even realise it was black Aida until I opened it, but knowing nothing about cross stitching, I didn't think anything of it. Then I started the Aurora Cabin and it was so much easier to work with the light blue.

Wow, Beautiful Dreamer is so detailed it looks like a photo! Aurora Cabin does have quite a lot of half stitches actually, what I meant is that there is no blank Aida left, whereas with the Sunlit fox there is. I have seen people mention HAED before so I finally googled them and wow, they are massive! What a project that would be.

Thank you for the lovely comments, I do have the chart and fabric for Dreams of Atlantis but not the floss, although I have the full set of DMC it will need more than 1 skein of each colour.

Charly27 thank you, yes it's nostalgia . I showed my oldest DD (22) and she questioned why I had them if the lavender doesn't work but then said unpick and fill but she said if I make new ones then she'd be ok for me to give her some - she thought very old lady but when I explained chemical free moth deterrent said YES. I will try and make new ones and then either decide to put these inside as you suggest or release :)
Going to try and find where I can get a modest amount of lavender to make some new bags.  In awe of all the project

That is beautiful. I’d be so happy to receive that. The black is like free-motion machine sewing. How do you do that? I love, love, love the wavy edging too. Happy-making. Well-done.

Thank you :) The black is backstitching, I usually take a before photo but needed it finished for today. The wavy edging is scalloped scissors like pinking shears, I got them in a set from Amazon, I haven't mastered the corners yet.
