Have been busy with work and family commitments so have taken my eye off the ball! Now have three clear days to sort and declutter. Starting with the under stairs cupboard tomorrow....may take awhile but will be such an achievement!
Have a load of paper and cardboard ready for the recycling tip and a bag of books for the library at work we are developing.
Onward and upward...SCP # 034

I took the bag of books into work and it was a success, I only ended up bring three books home. I’m going to keep them in the tote bag and continue to add to it as I finish books. I’ve told the team at work that I’m going to try to avoid buying books online this year and a few of them have offered their bookcases up for me to read when I run out of unread books of my own.
On Sunday I took the bag I’d been filling for the charity shop into town. Unfortunately I got their opening times wrong so ended up in Starbucks for a coffee to kill time. It was too cold to hang around outside and any other shops would possibly have meant spending more money. The plus to this is because I’d been hanging round waiting for them to open I quickly dropped off the bag without even glancing at what they were selling. :j
I think the main jobs for this week are going to be the coffee table (and under it) and there is a draw and shelf in the kitchen I’d like to tackle.
Mrs Salad Dodger I’m not going to worry about a tally for the items at my parents, I had a huge clear out in the summer so it’s not too bad. Now every time I do another clear out it’s of bags or boxes that are clearly visible on the floor of what was my bedroom so the improvement in what I can see is enough. My mum would like to have enough space to put up a travel cot in my old room so it doesn’t have to go in her craft room when she starts looking after my nephew.
The big job is going to be when I tackle what’s in the storage under the bed!! I don’t know what’s in there ( I was not living there when it went in) or how full it might be but there no rush on that job.

as predicted, not a very successful day today, but I'm getting there! One of the rooms now looks like a bomb's hit it - stuff everywhere, but need to get it all out to find out how much there is to work out where to put it all. One bag of rubbish retrieved, 15/52.
A mystery cleared up, too, connected to my horribly disorganised drawers. have wondered for a while why my daughter can never find hair bobbles when there is a whole 'hair bobble' drawer. Tonight it transpired that the 'hair bobble' drawer was actually filled to the brim with...pencils. Well of course. I have evicted them to the new 'pencil drawer' and rounded up all the hair bobbles I can to give them sole ownership of their own space!0 -
Bit more done today. 2 bags of recycling from DD2 room plus 2 bags of rubbish. Also old golf clubs recycled.
DH took everything I have been clearing out to the dump today for recycling or disposal, so it's now all off the premises.
I have also contacted a local charity who support disabled children in the Borough after they were recommended on an acts of kindness FB group. They will take my daughters old dance costumes and they have a unit where they sell them as costumes or fancy dress to raise money. I'm impressed and wish they had something like this when my girls were at school. The perfect solution when you are asked to provide this costume and that for school or after school clubs.0 -
Evening All
Busy day at work, but was organised and put a gammon in the slow cooker first thing, so a nice easy tea with some buttery mash, peas and onion sauce. I'd like to say it refuelled me for a decluttering session, but just made me sleepy.
Last bag of decluttered paperwork shredded and ousted. All Christmas decs collected from around the house, in a pile ready to put away (hopefully before they gather dust). Another birthday card from stash sent.
I couldn't be bothered to do much else once I'd cleared up after tea and had a bath, so watched the news, that was cheery.
Off to bed, hopefully a bit more progress tomorrow.

1. DO NOT PUT OFF TO TOMORROW WHAT CAN/SHOULD BE DONE TODAY
2. WRITE AND USE “TO DO LISTS”
3. LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
4. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
5. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
A mixed day weather wise. I managed all 5 items on my To Do list - cancelled milk, rearranged hearing aids appointment, visit to Chines Wellness Centre, small sm shop & posted the parcel & a couple of birthday cards. DH has picked up some currency for our holiday - pesos & US$
Dinner was the lo beef - sliced & braised in hm gravy, mash & green beans plus the lo mashed sweet potato, cabbage, peas & sprouts - scrummilicious  An hour later we finally had our Christmas Pudding with brandy cream & brandy sauce - very tasty notwithstanding that it was dated March 2017 :rotfl:

Good luck under the bed Organza_LaceWill your cs take the coat hangers?
Well Done villagelife :T You do know weeds count as decluttering
Well Done Happy Kitties :T Just remember that most of the people who have decluttered after Christmas will probably fall by the wayside & you will then struggle to find enough to fill the clothes bank & the Tip :rotfl: Shame that they are preventing you from ‘outing’ your clutter
Another person diving under the bed Makethedayscount :rotfl don’t get lost under there :rotfl: I take it the rubbish bag was from under the bed & you managed to successfully reach the spare room. Good result on the book sales :T

so very confused, What would Scarlett say - “Tomorrow is another day” so chalk it up to RL interfering with your decluttering plansGood luck with the under stairs cupboard, well worth the work required to sort it out
Mine was sorted last year & I persuaded DH to put up shelves & a coat rail :rotfl: also a couple of those stick on lights
It is a work of art - my DH even painted it & put down some carpet tiles :rotfl:
Excellent work Michelleh :T Good idea for the books & nice that your colleagues are willing to loan you some of their books :T I am willing to bet that a coffee was considerably cheaper than you browsing & buying in the cs :rotfl: Maybe the under bed storage will reveal some family heirloomsit will be fun I am sure

Excellent work dallam20 :T. I especially like that your DH is getting everything ‘off the premises’ :T. Sounds like a wonderful charity dallam20 :A A big round of applause to the acts of kindness FB group :T
