I had a pile of packaging materials for my ebay shop, piled like the leaning tower of Pisa. Now sorted out, cardboard boxes deconstructed and flattened for easy storage, one of them kept whole and all the bubble wrap etc crammed inside.

  • Today is my last day of freedom before school starts!!
So I am going to give myself the challenge of sorting through the linen/storage cupboard in my bedroom!

I have some lesson planning to do later, but also hoping I can go through my other bedroom unit and continue the decluttering fun!

I've also been sorting out knives and scissors and have about 6 sharp veg knives and bread knives to get rid of, but don't know where to - do charity shops take knives? Does anyone know.

yes i saw some in mine at the weekend with a sign on saying you must be over 18 to purchase

Christmas decorations down today and everything that didn't go up this year has been either recycled or will be taken to the tip tomorrow by DH.
So that's 4 more bags of rubbish cleared.

I've also written a list of areas in the house to declutter or organise to keep me focused as although I'm going great at the moment I'm sure my focus will wane as the year progresses. Also good to tick things off although I often add as much as I tick off when I write to do lists.

I like this idea. 1. i will remember what needs doing in each room 2. it's motivational as you cross things off

15 mins decluttering carried out this morning. I'm working from home (!) so can surreptitiously do bits of decluttering throughout the day too.

    1. tidied some receipts into tax return folder
    2. decluttered over 40pence of changing lying about the kitchen, into the change jar
    3. recycled 5 jam jars i was saving for .....something....just saved 2 of the bigger ones for my nuts
    4. decluttered a wax melt, that is burning and making the kitchen smell of cupcakes:j
    5. found my tin full of spare candles/melts so i put away the new candles i made using bits of old wax
    6. listed 13 things on ebay over the weekend - 1 sold already:j (I'm including my ebay work here as I have a death pile of stuff to list and keep buying more)

  • Cleared out a bag of books from spare room and sold them on book website for £10. Also bag of rubbish to the bin. 14/365
  • Nothing too exciting, but I have

    2. Recycled Christmas cards
    3. Recycled Birthday cards found down the back of the couch
    4. Sent Teacher's Christmas present in to school with son (he intended to give it to her the day they stopped for the holidays, but it turned out she wasn't going to be in as she was going to Australia)
  • The cupboard of doom can now be called the linen/storage cupboard again. All tidied and lots of decluttering. Managed to get rid of about 35 items. Most for the tip and a couple of items to sell. I even have empty boxes in the cupboard. So will be able to reorganise other areas and put them out of site if needed - or if i don't need them they can be decluttered/sold as well!

    Now at 136/2020!

Holmefarm, this is something I did when my dds were babies: I had an empty cardboard box next to the changing table, and every time I had an item of baby clothing in my hands that was too small for them, I would pop it in the box. As soon as the box was full, I would close it, put the sizes on the outside and either pop it in the attic or donate it (or pass it on to a friend). This kept baby's wardrobe manageable.
