16-17 hoover accessories picked up by freecycler
18 broken plastic thing that I have no idea what it was part of
19 off bits of xmas decorations binned
    20 paperwork

have few things going on which have slowed me down but may lead to me being able to get rid of other things! Fingers crossed.
  • One bag given to my mum to take to the charity shop (thanks mum!) 14/52

Back to work tomorrow so this will slow down - I'll try to keep going though!!

hope we all have a great decluttering week ahead :D:D
  • Hi
May I join please? I've been through last year's challenge and started quite well but I think I will do much better if I post to the forum.
Aim is for 2020 items (which equates to 168 /9 items per month).
Expecting a baby at the end of the month (c-section already booked in) so may be a bit lax for a while but I'm determined to post once a month and use my maternity leave wisely.
    Thank you x

Christmas decorations down today and everything that didn't go up this year has been either recycled or will be taken to the tip tomorrow by DH.
So that's 4 more bags of rubbish cleared.

I've also written a list of areas in the house to declutter or organise to keep me focused as although I'm going great at the moment I'm sure my focus will wane as the year progresses. Also good to tick things off although I often add as much as I tick off when I write to do lists.

Had a clear out of a couple of cupboards on my day off and filled 2 bin liners with rubbish!!

Sorted recycling and some bits into food waste caddy (have to say I only use my food caddy at Christmas when bin space is at a premium - but intend to keep it up this year). I don't have a lot of food waste but better in food recycling than land fill.

All Christmas gifts have had packaging removed (and cardboard put into cardboard recycling bag - except one big box that is in spare room to be filled with charity donations and dropped off at chazzer when full) Christmas toiletries are now in the bathroom ready to be used instead of being put into a cupboard to be found in the future by time team!

Recycling will be collected on Tuesday, including 2 bed sheets and a towel that are all thread bare - our council will take a carrier bag of textiles for recycling and as these too far gone for charity donations they can take them.

All Christmas decs down today and put away. Keeping cards untill next Sunday as we have a box to donate cards to a local cancer charity.

I am running down my freezer as it is long overdue defrosting. No more batch cooking for now - I have about 2 weeks of work lunches to eat my way through untill I can drag freezer into the kitchen to defrost on a non carpeted floor - and then I will have be able to access the rest of the understairs cupboard to declutter the stuff i have been shoving out of sight for years.

I will get clutter out of the house this year!!:T:beer::j
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"

  • 1. DO NOT PUT OFF TO TOMORROW WHAT CAN/SHOULD BE DONE TODAY
    2. WRITE AND USE “TO DO LISTS”
    3. LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
    4. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
    5. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’

Dry day but stayed indoors ;) Finished the scarf for family member - boxed, wrapped & ready to post. Started scarf no 21. Cleared down a load more programmes from planner. Sunday’s Dinner was roast beef, roast potatoes & parsnips, mashed sweet potatoes, cabbage, garden peas & sprouts (for DH & I) + DH made a wonderful gravy. Delicious 😋 & enough left for tonight :T

5 - cardboard & plastic packaging + newspaper disposed of appropriately
6 - last of XMas cards binned
7 - used cardboard box, tissue paper & brown paper from stores to post scarf

    Cheerleading starts here :)

Well Done boultdj :T shame the cat is still on strike ;)

Lovely to see you leelad & you have made a good start to your 2020 decluttering endeavours :T So sorry to hear that your wife is not doing so well but I am confident that you & your daughter will continue to help her. Thank you for the good wishes re the mantras.

Well Done StinkingBishop :T Now that you appear to be on top of the ‘rubbish’ portion of decluttering it will be easier to keep rubbish out on a daily basis :D Try not to fall into the trap of saving stuff for Ron (later on;)) :rotfl: You are keeping up the momentum & now that you are back to work your mission, should you choose to accept it, is NOT to let clutter in ;)

Great work Nicnak :T & fingers crossed 🤞 for the sales ;)No need to be embarrassed :) I reckon someone probably went through the bag ;) You are keeping up the momentum & now that you are back to work your mission, should you choose to accept it, is NOT to let clutter in ;)

Great work shangaijimmy :T do be careful not to get rid of beloved items though (as per General Grant’s post) :D

Good work Barny1979 :T cardboard boxes seem to be the bane of your life :p

Excellent work mark88man :T keeping up the momentum :T

No wonder you are feeling pleased with yourself Repentent Hoarder :D You are doing some excellent decluttering & your numbers are quite spectacular :T I am also very impressed that your DH is on board & is getting the ‘stuff’ out of your home once the disposition of said items has been decided. Quite often we stall in our decluttering efforts because the ‘bags’ hang around :o Keep up the excellent work but do remember to take care of your poorly arm :)

You are in the correct place LolAndTosh ;) welcome aboard the Decluttering Bandwagon :hello: As you have a major goal in sight, you should just dive in ;) We are here to offer encouragement & praise :D Good luck 😉

    Great Result Makethedayscount :T

Good start Foofoopuppy :T Iwill hazard a guess that your home is starting to feel clearer ;)

Great work short_bird :T numbers zooming along nicely :T

Now, now winspiration ;) You live a different life to your SIL ; You are busy decluttering to make your home into your haven & you are doing an excellent job :T. Running a business from home is always going to make decluttering a challenge - after all lots of your items are stock NOT clutter :rotfl:

    Great work Gem-gem :T Decluttering & saving money :T

Super work keepcalmandcraft :T You are definitely on a roll :T

Good work ailz95 :T Re the knives, unfortunately CS are not legally allowed to accept knives :( not sure about scissors so might be worth a phone call. The knives can be taken to your local tip - they should have a special bin for sharp items - my DH usually uses a metal saw to cut knives into pieces.

    Well Done TC77 :T. Steady progress :T

I thought I hadn’t seen you around so much Organza_Lace. Think of the space you will have when the computer breaks :rotfl:

You are more than welcome to join us Holmefarm :D Lovely to see you & congratulations on your imminent arrival :D I appreciate you will be bringing lots of baby stuff into your home but it will help if you can get rid of the day to day rubbish ASAP ; Good luck 😉

Excellent work dallam20 :T Lists are your friends - they can concentrate the mind wonderfully & if you keep them for a while you can see how hard you have worked ;)

You have been very busy sillyvixen & are doing a great decluttering job :T You are definitely motivated :rotfl:

Great work Marpau :T It is always a shame when RL gets in the way of decluttering :rotfl:

    See you all later

Irishrose sorry to hear about the suicides in your community and I agree that technology especially social media plays a large part in peoples mental health.

I managed most of the day in the garden.

54-55 bags recycled after the bulbs were planted! The bulbs were very reduced when I bought them a couple of weeks before Christmas. Hopefully they will grow.
56 empty bottle recycled. It had been out back in the cupboard by someone and I hadn't realised it was empty.

Not much else done apart from weeds!

Packed up the tree and the rest of the decorations yesterday. Typically we have left something out so will be packed away today but was determined to sort out the bauble boxes while packing away.

*5 bits of tinsel on and off the tree-binned
*6-7 candle and holder-binned and recycled
*8 tree dec that was just left in the box bec it is broken-binned
    *9 large amount of paperwork-shredded.

Slowly have a pile of bits building up for a tip run and have a pile of clothes for the clothes bank, have to wait until emptied. People have been piling bags outside them
