2020 - banish the clutter

This isn’t decluttering our house, but a friend gave us some portmerion plates and cups she didn’t use and we are really enjoying using them. They are not something I would buy for myself but they are cheery and they are on the top of the plates so we are using them. It reinforces my idea about releasing items to someone who will actually use the items you don’t need. I understand not everything has a new home but some things do.8

1754 clothes storage bag slit binned1755 large box recycled (brought back some crockery from someone else - will start adding in new things as minus figures next year - too scary now but have cut back on bringing things in. We do have alot of breakages in our house - clumsy rather than throwing of crockery!7

What a gloriously sunny Sunday 🌞 ☀️ and very warm/hot. DSis did two loads of washing & everything dried on the whirligig 🥳
The soup I made yesterday has been zizzed & is gorgeous - I had a bowlful & used the very last bit of hm bread - bit hard but managed to cut into small enough chunks as uncooked croutons 😉
DH had a walk up the road to collect a bucket of crab apples for zizzing as worm food.
Then DH & I spent a couple more hours in the garden - currently have 2 compost bins, one of which is full of wood for the chiminea/projects. This one was emptied & moved to its new spot. Then we emptied the compost from the other bin, raked through & put into the newly located compost bin. When moving the plastic grating under the bins we found a mouse nest 🙁 We apologised profusely & promised that we would not disturb them again 🤣
Relocated several pots/bags of potatoes to their new home. The table DH built needs some work doing to it but has been moved to a new home & will be dealt with later in the year. We then moved to the other side of the garden - hoed out the weeds, levelled the ground & set up a ‘table’ (part of a plastic shelving unit 🙂) & moved 3 pots of potato plants. We have a new project now - we will be clearing & prepping (weed cloth, gravel & sand ) a 4’ wide area in front of the patio & will put down two half slabs (los from the patio build 👏) as a step.We have raked up tons of peanut shells (we treat our squirrels well 😂) & these will be used in the chiminea. One bonus of such lovely weather is that the tomatoes are reddening 🥳
Dinner tonight is last night’s lo pasta Bolognese with a mozzarella topping being baked with the addition of a small tray of hg tomatoes drizzled in oil.1651 - 1655 Plastic bottle, empty washing liquid bottle, kitchen recycling, drinks cans, newspaper - Recycled

Great work newlywed 👏 I especially approve of decluttering sewing projects to your mum 😉😉 Good luck with the sugar free September 🤞 Great idea for clothing - so simple it merits a Gold Star ⭐️
Elsien, you obviously like the style of shoe 😉😉 Re the one in, one out be brave 😉 - take everything out, inspect for mending requirements & then only put back in your favourite items. All the hangers facing one way, then when an item is worn turn the hanger round. Pick a time period e.g. 3 months, 6 months & any clothes that haven’t been worn should be looked at again & a decision taken. The exceptions are party 🎉 and funeral clothes 🙁
I know you can do it 👏 Mind you newlywed’s idea is easier 👏
Great work TC77 👏 I sincerely doubt that you only fit into 5% of your clothes - insert wagging finger emoji 🙂 I had visions of you Greek dancing & smashing crockery 😂
Excellent work nannywindow 👏 I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ - up to you to decide if it is for garden decluttering Or NOT decluttering family members 😉
You are very welcome Gem-gem 🙂 Can you advise me how to make passata or point me in the direction of a recipe? Absolutely excellent f&v prepping 👏 So impressed that a Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way 🙂 The book sounds very interesting.Bit_by_bit, I did have to laugh at your comments re your daughter’s new digs 😉 Sounds like a wonderful day - lots of happy people 🙂 Are you looking forward to just you & DH?
Although you do have a monthly visit to look forward to 🥳
Thanks for the info re baby blankets - what a wonderful thing to do & hand delivered to boot 🙂 Hope you have a great visit with your DSis 🙂

Thanks for my gold star Mrs SD, always nice to keep up the mojo
Have started doing a bit of life admin decluttering, including decluttering some ££ to the gym so hopefully we can declutter some lbs. Between moving and so needing to eat through the house, snacking because I'm at home and generally not being as active, I have put on far too much weight which absolutely needs decluttering.
Have also reorganised our important documents section, and been through and shredded some documents which were no longer needed.8 -
Thanksyou Mrs SD. DH and I get on great luckily, although we bicker more now we both have age related hearing loss.
Today we decluttered 3 raised beds and a compost bin with gate to the allotments. The compost bin is my friend who has paid for it in runner beans. DH made them all from some small pallets that came from a neighour over the road.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Thanks for my gold star MrsSD, I shall treasure it as the only other medal I've ever won is a 3rd place rosette for javelin throwing at my school sports day
I think I'll say it's for not decluttering any family members, but there's still plenty of time
Decluttered today an empty conditioner bottle and several plastic fruit containers, the fruit has been put into a proper fruit bowl....... well the items that hadn't been eaten mid transfer anyway.Out for collection tomorrow 2 full green waste bins, a recycling box ( half full ) and a food waste caddy which doesn't have much in it, but it's so hot today that it will smell if I leave it for another weekHope everyone is well, hugs if not.nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently7 -
6 pairs of shoes gone - 4 to be recycled and 2 to the charity shop.
4 more tops to the charity shop bag and two to be recycled. (One in but it was on the list anyway, your honour.)
5 bracelets and two necklaces.
One coat added to the pile then removed again.
A few other small household bits added to the bag.
Door mat out the front for anyone who wants it.
Broken dog bowl binned.Bags of charity stuff left by the neighbours in their house move gone, and I only rehomed a few diy bits. Quite pleased with that.
It’s a start again. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.8 -

Monday was hot, hot, hot & I did absolutely nothing apart from make a small amount of tomato chutney using boazu’s recipe. DH was busy - a small sm shop for buns & rolls & salad items as he was firing up the chiminea & barbecuing. Telephone call re the results of his lung health check, then out again for 100l sack of ground cover. Then barbecue - hot dogs & farm shop pork & apple burgers. DH & I used some of last year’s tomato chutney as dressing for the burgers - soooo tasty 😋
Tuesday is another warm & sunny day & am still doing sweet f*nny *d*ms 😔.

Excellent work bit_by_bit 👏 Three raised beds - ooh you are lucky 🍀 The ‘bickering bits’ how about that for a nickname 😉 only joking 🙃 Sounds like you have a great relationship 🙂 & lovely that you garden together.
You have been busy nannywindow 👏 A woman after my own heart - I was a thrower - 3 of the 4 disciplines - javelin, shot & discus. I was lucky enough to be in a club with two lady Olympians & once met Geoff Capes 🙂 I hope your medal is on display - it is always nice to remind yourself of success 😉 I will nab a hug if that is OK - I do miss hugging in real life - yes I am a hugger 😆
