Happy New Year,
back again, and great to be starting at the beginning of the year so will aim for 2020.
1 cracked bowl binned
2-4 shoes and clothes to CS
5 papers sorted and binned
6-8 clothes returned to shop as don't suit me (and not needed)
9 more papers binned
Realise that I will need to maintain momentum but feels a positive start. Good luck all.0 -
Happy New Year to one & all :hello:
We are back home from visiting DH’s niece - another holiday booked - to Moscow & St Petersburg for a week in July :jNo decluttering from my home
& so straight into cheerleading
Hi never too old - welcome backYou sound enthused & ready to enter the 2020 Decluttering fray :T I have absolutely no doubt that you will have more good bits this year :rotfl:
You have been busy jacwins :T Well Done :T
On target villagelife :T Six items a day for 366 days will see you well past your 2020 target :rotfl: You are still on track villagelife :T
Good work IrishRose12 :T Re the coat hanger challenge - I did that in 2019 but the only coat hangers not turned round were for my ‘fancy clothes’ so they will stay :rotfl: you never know I might get to use them this year :rotfl: You are getting off to a flying start & a reward is just the way to keep yourself motivated :T
Nice to see you back retiredinfrance :j I really do like all your mini challenges :T You are definitely on a decluttering mission& I have every faith that you will meet all your goals
You have really taken the bull by the horns Makethedayscount :T and yes you really are getting a grip on the decluttering :T Remember should you feel yourself flagging, we are all here to encourage you
Yippee Alli135 :j getting your hubby on board doubles your chances of successfully decluttering your home :T:T
Welcome aboard Happy Kitties - nice to see you back
Oh dear PrimrosePlease don’t let your beloved husband (bh) derail your clutter busting/cleaning & tidying
Quick question - does he know everything he owns? If not, may I suggest a 1st step of hiding a few items & seeing if he notices. Set a time limit & then dispose of discretely :rotfl: If that is too sneaky
an alternative is to try to persuade him to sell unused items - someone else might find them useful & a bit of money for a treat might be just the incentive he needs :rotfl:
Primrose, perhaps you can print out the ‘48 hours to live’ post and put it somewhere prominent so your bh can see it - fingers crossed 🤞 that might just work :rotfl:
Great work short_bird :T still on track :T
Excellent work juliejim :T Keep it up
I rather like your new plan of action ChasingtheWelshdreamForgetting the Rooms of Doom in favour of smaller, visible projects & having the photo framing project as a reward
Fingers crossed 🤞 that the book sales monies arrive in your account quickly, it will be a great incentive to clear down your bookshelves
Oh dear elsienbut well done on starting your decluttering :T. Wow, EIGHT bags - I am very impressed :j Re your SOD - once you have done all your other bits just dive in
but do remember to tie a piece of string round the door handle so you can find your way out again :rotfl:
Great start Abbafan1972 :TStinkingBishop
9 bags out of your 52 target & we are only on the 2nd day of 2020 :j You don’t have to do it all in a month
Now up to 10 bags :T AND you have decluttered an hot spot :T It may takeaway bit longer to fill your next bag (maybe sort a drawer a day) but I KNOW you can do it
and well done on the text books - once sold that can be bag no.11 :j. Craft items - just shows how many talented people we have here
we just don’t have enough hours in the day to use all our crafting items :rotfl: maybe we need to give up sleeping :rotfl:
You should be very pleased with the start you have made dallam20 :T
Wow 🤩 Marpau just Wow 🤩 - I am lost for words :rotfl: What a fantastic 2019 pounds IN & pounds OFF :j Now you are starting 2020 with a flourish :T & continuing with a flourish :T
Welcome aboard SummerDays :hello: Absolutely no need for countingas long as you can see the difference as you are decluttering that is all that counts
I am holding you to getting the cs bag delivered :rotfl: Can you get your children on board? - maybe release a few toys (that they no longer play with) to the cs explaining that there are children whose mummies & daddies cannot afford new toys. Remember the good start to 2019 & that will spur you on - Declutter or bust :rotfl:
Welcome aboard lindens :hello: An absolutely excellent method of decluttering :T & you are obviously having a good deal of success with this :T. Excellent advice - after all your clutter may be someone else’s treasure :rotfl:
Excellent work parsniphead :T as you have been so busy, I imagine you have already started to notice a differenceI trust you are not trading Mount Wash-more for Mount Iron-more
:rotfl:
What a busy bee you have been kboss2010 :T. Even if it transpires that you do not have to move, you will reap the benefits of decluttering & tidying - a restful home being the major oneContinued being a busy bee, kboss2010 :T:T and you have every right to feel better about your home :T you must be running out of rooms :rotfl:
Welcome aboard Nicnak :hello: The more the merrierYou are really pushing the clutter out :T already 62 out of 365 :T at that rate you will be done in a week :rotfl: Oh no Nicnak
ONLY 48 books :rotfl: only joking :rotfl: I did have to laugh 😂 at your last comment though :rotfl:
Brilliant Gem-gem - January has barely started & you are almost at your target :T & tidying as well :T
Hi nannywindow :hello: nice to see youSounds like you have decluttered all your energy
but even tired you have made an effort :T
Welcome aboard 6mmglitterthing :hello: No-one is ever late to the Decluttering Party :rotfl: You have made an excellent start :T Do not worry - read along & you will keep your motivation going :rotfl: Then one day you will recline gracefully in your decluttered haven :rotfl:

Welcome aboard jammydodgersandrhl - lovely to see you :hello: Decluttering items & debt :T Maybe selling some items could help reduce the debt
Great start GreenQueen :T
Great work on the decluttering ailz95 :T. Shame about the money being decluttered but both items purchased as necessities rather than luxuries - so no need to feel guiltyHow long will this fast be?

I've been away for a couple of days seeing family, so I'm the spirit of MSE instead of buying flowers and chocs etc I gathered a box of "useful supplies" from my household and toiletries stash. Bath stuff and washing tablets etc. They've got a young family and not much money so they were pleased, and that was another 10 items out. Then when I got home a friend wanted some lightbulbs and a light fitting I'd been keeping for no reason, so that was another 5.Magnolia Stellata0

...I'm on about 85 items so far in 2020 Magnolia Stellata0

So far taken 5 bags to charity shop, 1 bag to food bank, 1 bag of shredded paper and 1 bag of rubbish 8/365. Feeling better already0

Does selling on ebay count? I have just decided to list a load of things that I know I can get a few pounds for rather than just send them straight down to the charity shop. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x0 -
And we're off
*1 brand new hottie to cs
*2 smellie set to cs
*3 christmas cards into recycling
*4 large amount of cardboard taken by recycling people yesterday.
mrs SD i look after my highly prized stars from last year-even giving them the occasional dust and polish!!Decluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks Mrs SD.
I'm doing well so far. currently at 65 items.
I have got rid of 35 books, 3 puzzles, 5 dresses, 1 game, 4 notebooks, cat beds, cat toys, etc. I have listed most of these first of all on local selling sites and eBay. However I am rather inpatient to get rid of things, the plan is to send to tip/charity shop if i can't sell after a week. This will keep the momentum going I feel.
Well done everyone - it's good to see what things you are decluttering - it helps remind me of other things i can sort through. xDeclutter 2020 - 267/2020 :j

My Son spent a fortune on smellies from Lush for me for Christmas and I'm heartbroken because I can't use any of it as my skin is super sensitive. I'm going to have to donate most of it but I feel so bad. My daughter bought me some bath bombs too but again, I can't use them as baths dry my skin out too much.
How do I get over the feeling of guilt though? No, I think it's all going to have to stay under the bed.
Could you not regift it to friends throughout the year - maybe set up a box and put unwanted gifts in it and regift when birthdays come up??Declutter 2020 - 267/2020 :j
