    Evening all.

Have bagged up 6 x items of clothing to go to the charity shop.

Where I work there is a uniform, so I don't need loads of clothes for work!

Christmas decorations have yet to come down, but will be doing that at the weekend now (back to work tomorrow).
Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.67
  • Another bag today. Today's highlight was going through a big pile of recipes I'd torn out of magazines about 8 years ago. They mostly sounded disgusting - what was I thinking? but a couple of recipes I'd loved and forgotten about were in the pile! Mary Berry banana and chocolate chip loaf, here I come!

It is getting a bit harder....I am determined to keep looking at the forum to keep motivated!

Made a start today but everything is still in the house as I was always told it was unlucky to throw out rubbish on New Year’s Day :rotfl:

1 bag of rubbish cleared from sideboard including old cards and candles that no longer smell. Also tidied candle collection. Will not buy anymore until the ones I have are finished.

1 bag for charity shop or free cycle

Total 2/52. Pleased with the start I’ve made :)

Evening everyone. Productful day here today. Turned out I could only get rid of one coat..... it seems I've decluttered those more recently than I thought lol. Anyhow, one coat is better than nothing.

Went through my wardrobe, have taken out the items I didn't wear last year and put them into a black bag. Hangers are all set back to the wrong way again ready to see what I dont wear this year lol.

Received some lovely fleece pyjamas for Christmas from a friend, however I don't wear fleece pyjamas as I get to warm so they're in the bag also.

Few more items listed on Ebay, some others stuff sold on ebay. J putca birchbox on tonight for a buy it now and within 20mins it had sold:T the other 2 are still there though but here's hoping :rotfl:

I've also packed up the boots stuff I don't want and have printed off the postage label to return that tomorrow. And I have arranged for a pair of trainers I bought to be picked up tomorrow also. They arrived with no laces supplied with them  so that was an interesting conversation on the phone with New Balance.

I'm now off to make a start on my 1st book of the year.

  • Just thought I would pop by for another evening update.

I didn’t get around to checking the pantry, but I have just discovered ‘we buy books’ and put a few random Xmas books in that the kids don’t read anymore. Added a couple of DVDs and I made just over £20! I have never sold anything on those kind of sites before and will be little skeptical until the money is paid into my account, but if everything is OK then I will definitely be rummaging through the book shelves a bit more!

This time last year I was feeling overwhelmed I have 3 wall to wall wardrobes which were so full i couldn't find anything I joined the forum and tho I didn't post very often I read every post which gave me lots of inspiration and motivation. At the end of the year I have loads more space know what is in the wardrobes and earned £4507.32!!! Also decluttered 4 stone of flab.
Today as I have the space I put my handbags into two hanging storage things the plastics crate they were in will be used to store Christmas decorations tomorrow and put in the loft freeing up floor space in the wardrobe.
1-3 Sunday pjs and favourite top which I melted whilst ironing to rag bag
4-5 uu candles (my resolution this year is not to save anything for best!)
6-7 2 balls of wool from stash knitted into blanket for NICU
8 deodorant( button jammed and won't spray) into bin
9 uu sachet of moisturizer (I have loads of these and will use them all before I buy any)
10 1 bag of papers recycled

4 unwanted presents into box to regift or sell

    Not much more done but

    9 a broken drill bit
10-13 magazines and work journals recycled.

I started decluttering after we had to clear mother in laws house and made me think that I don't want my children to have to clear out the same amount of rubbish.
  • I’d love to join you with banishing clutter in 2020!

I made a great start in the first few months of 2019, even managed to get an empty cupboard or two, but then life took over and the clutter has slowly started to build again.

I don’t think I’ll count bags out or anything, just focus on getting the clutter out! The thing I find most difficult is the exit plan!! So I have a charity bag full of kids clothes and coats that they’ve outgrown which was filled in November - it’s still in the house. It’s difficult to put the charity bags out for curb side collection as my eldest gets most upset, so I need to go to an actual charity ‘bin’ in the supermarket car park. I am giving myself the deadline of Sunday to remove this!

Good luck everyone :) and thank you MrsSD for the thread :)

I'd love to join - just found this thread

I have already started decluttering on Boxing Day. Every day I must do 15 mins of decluttering. I have a lot to do!

I am a crafter so have that usual stash of too many crafting materials. I sell p/t on ebay so i have listed stock and a death pile not yet listed. I am messy and I am a bit of a hoarder anyway.

So everyday i set the timer for 15 mins and declutter until the alarm goes off. I don't have to stop then if i am in the middle of something, but's it's ok if i do.
I am starting at the top in the converted attic. I have done every day so far bar one. I have taken one box to the charity shop, and have started another.
I have thrown out 6 carrier bags full of rubbish.
I have a carrier bag of stuff i can sell on ebay (in addition to my current death pile)
Back to work today properly so need to make sure i still do this even if i dont feel like it.

Well done everyone on your progress so far!
Edited to add: there are also specific tasks need doing - under the sink cupboard - I have no idea what products i have or haven't. Also new bathroom going in in a few months so need to sort out endless bottles of gunk and use or lose them.

    Morning all

I spent some time yesterday on my craft/front room. I got rid of a massive pile of recycling and have one bin bag full of rubbish. There is still plenty to carry on with today in my shirt bursts.

I also have two bags upstairs to be binned. I just need to get DS to get them downstairs for me.

I've emptied the airer this morning and have put another load in which has just finished. The next load will go in soon. I really need to get on top of this washing mountain.

Anyway, I must get on. Only a few more days then it's back to work and I would like to see a difference by then.
