  • I'm starting on this thread now as I got past my target on the 2019 thread.
I will be helped this year by the aim of OH to redo the upstairs rooms, which includes a study with 4 full bookcases. I need to sort through all the stuff in that room before it goes back in there.
So to kick off the 2020 items:
    1 - 2 books to CS
    3 - 6 toiletries used up & containers recycled
7 - bunch of emails unsubscribed from
    8 - 9 2 tops to CS
    10 - 13 magazines recycled
14 - xmas wrapping paper recycled
    15 - 20 boxes recycled
    21 - 27 assorted gifts bags recycled/to CS
28 - 29 bottles of fragrance from reed diffuser kit recycled

    That's it for now

  • Feeling inspired by this thread and keen to declutter in 2020.
I would like to join in and declutter 52 bags of any size.

Bag 1 will be the dance costumes from my daughter who hasn't been to dance school for at least 5 years. Not sure if the charity shop will take them??
Bag 2 is a collection of toiletries I've been putting aside for the hygiene bank but haven't got round to taking.
Bag 3 is my kitchen crockery, I have crockery in 3 different cupboards so going to reduce to 2 as have too much.
Biggest challenge will be getting my daughters to declutter their mountains of rubbish but maybe if I set and example ??? You never know !!

I am having foot surgery the beginning of March so might have a bit more time on my hands to declutter in earnest when I'm on sick leave??

I will use my new calendar to mark off each bag and tally my progress but will aim for one a week.

    Okay

    I'm in !

52/52 as I am not good at daily stuff. So 52 bags out of house to charity or dump. Have the whole house to do plus 2 garages.

(Is this how we do this ? )

I like this idea. I will go for 52/52 too

It appears that no laundry or washing up or rubbish disposal is to be undertaken tomorrow as it's unlucky!!

My mum always said no laundry on boxing day, New years day, good Friday or Easter Sunday as you would wash someone out of the family!

That is a decluttering step too far!!

I’m definitely up for decluttering 2020 items. My husband is on study leave from work for the first three months of 2020 and I’m hoping that the change in routine will free up time for us and we’ll get some decent decluttering done! In particular we’ve got boxes of stuff that I moved to our house when we sold my late mother’s house in 2009 - it’s definitely time I emptied them and either find homes for the contents or, more likely, just let them go!

    Happy New Year everyone!

I've just done a bag of shredding, I emptied the shredding machine twice into the compost heap in the garden (so I'm counting 2 of my 2020 because I'm not counting each paper). We have so much shredding to do, I think it will always be on my ideas list.

Ideas - put hoodies on selling site, put a n other toy on selling site, find someone that wants children's hangers (have loads), do a bag full of shredding, spend 10 mins going through my letters etc in the kitchen (school newsletters etc), sell / CS baby cooking books

    Current totals 12/2020 2/52
    Decluttering target:
Beauty product - 11/52, last item - bubble bath used while I shaved legs, 2 conditioners sachets from used hair dye boxes
    Play room - 41/52, last item -
    Clothes - 23/52, last item -
    Food - 13/52, last item -

I have started today so will hopefully reach my target this year.

1-3 various toiletries used up and bottles recycled.
4-6 small wheels given to a friend.
7-8 various nails and walk fixings that DH binned when he had been looking for the wheels

Hope everyone achieves their target this year.

    Happy New year everyone!

I'm starting as I left off yesterday in last years thread :eek:and making a start on the coats/jackets etc that I need to try and and get rid off. One of my new mottos this year is buy one item, get rid of one item.
I've also decided to get rid of the t-shirts etc that I wear all the time, and use the drawer full that I have that has either never been worn. or worn once. Considering I wear a uniform in work, there really is no need for me to have so many clothes:eek:

I done the hanger challenge last year - where you turn your hangers around the other way, and if at the end of the year you still have hangers the wrong way round - you haven't used that item of clothing so obviously don't need it. I know there's a few items in there so they'll be either listed on Ebay, or put into the donation bag.

Another job I'm doing today is to gather a few bits I ordered from Boots' sale and return them to store tomorrow.
I ordered too much, and really don't need some of it, other things when I received them I just wasn't as keen on them as I thought I was, so that's on the to do list today also.
