  • Ten items of kids clothes , 20 items of bric and bric .... aka tat! I’m on a roll! I even trimmed the long fur around the dogs ears as they were looking unkept ! Recycle bin is full to bursting with Christmas paper and cards....have taken the decorations down .... want a clean clutter free home going into the new year! Amazing what you can achieve in an hour!

    Without any glitter or foil.
  • General Grant , Many thanks for the positive warm welcome to the board.
No more toys til Xmas 2022 , mfw 2023 challenge , Trying to not waste food , time or money and appreciate the moment more!

  • Welcome aboard Stinking Bishop - I adore the name ;) it is a cheese I believe ;) You are so right - admitting you have a clutter problem is the first step. The next step is starting :rotfl: Just pick a spot & start :rotfl: Once you have one clear spot, move on to the next - eventually all those clear spots will meet up :D If it really is as bad as you say, then make sure you do not do massive decluttering sessions - little & often will keep your ‘Decluttering Mojo’ intact :rotfl: Any time you feel yourself flagging, just pop in & say hi 👋 I doubt if there is any decluttering challenge that has not been encountered & overcome by someone on this thread ;) So off you go :rotfl: & don’t forget to build in little rewards between bouts of decluttering ;) We are here to ‘help’ each other & knowing that there are many of us on the Decluttering Journey will help us - we are not alone :rotfl: What an absolutely BRILLIANT start :T Not bringing in more clutter & also decluttering :T
7 bottles of shampoo  however that should see you through at least 2020 ;)

Thank you very much for your kind welcome Mrs SD!! I have read everybody's posts and been inspired to spend the whole day (ish) tidying.

My smilies aren't working, which is a shame because I really need the 'embarrassed' one.

6 bin bags of rubbish. Full. I said my house was bad didn't I!!!!!

The seven bottles of shampoo have been joined by a) another two bottles, plus b) 14 bars of soap and c) enough pairs of tights and school socks, unworn and still in their packet, for a few families of octopuses!

Next step - sort out clothes for the charity shop. Hope we all had a great decluttering day!!!

At least you won't stink 'Stinking bishop'. ;)

I've started on my bedroom and DS's today. I didn't get too much done until I was pooped but it's a start.

Tomorrow I will resume work on the washing mountain.

Erm.. so I dropped the bag off at charity shop but then seem to have acquired some additional items :D. However they were all charity shop items and I did need more tops to wear to work.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

I didn't really think my name through did I? :rotfl: Mrs SD is right, it's a cheese, but I hadn't thought that perhaps some people might just instantly think of a really smelly person.

Mind you, I will be stinking, although in a different way - I also found five Lush bath bombs, and we all know how strong they smell!!!
  • Oh I know my cheese ( a little too well unfortunately ;)). It just tickled me when I read how many toiletries you have.

I love lush even though the stuff smells so strong. I think it's gone a little pricey too. Enjoy the bath bombs.

I did a bit more paperwork. Another pile for the shredder and good few handfuls of non-confidential stuff in the recycling. Recycling bin is very full, being collected on Friday thank goodness. A handful of rusty old paper clips and perished rubber bands flung! Plus a lever arch file that was not really in good enough condition to be passed on. I bought 2 Christmas presents for next year! I couldn't help it, a bargain.
Mrs SD, about finding presents bought in advance. I have them in a drawer under the bed, therein also lies a list of what I've got and for who. It's sad, but true. If I'm really organised, they get wrapped before going in there :o.
I haven't managed to keep away from the cheese in the fridge today, a bonus of going back to work will be that I am much better disciplined there!

    Keep Smiling :)
  • No progress for me.
Yesterday I took a whole packed car load of stuff my son needed now he has his own house. Mainly duplicate items from when I cleared my mothers house
Today I came back with a dining table and four chairs. Someone had left them at his house promising to come back for them but has now said she doesn't want them. I phoned a charity shop but they were unable to take them because the chairs had no fire certificate. (I hoped they wouldn't fit in the car, but it's surprising how much a Jazz will hold)
    I shall free-cycle them
On a positive note I placed 8 old little bottles of hotel shampoo in the shower so I will remember to use them.
In January I want to decorate my son's bedroom so my mother can have it. Her smaller room will then be the spare room. So tomorrow I shall start a mega sorting game making space in the utility for stuff from my bedroom, which will then have room for stuff from mum's room, which can then store stuff from my son's room. It'll be the end of January before and decorating starts!
Love living in a village in the country side
