468-469: another 2 folders of 7 year old paperwork, 3 sheets actually needed to be kept...‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

I took three cups to work, a stationery set bought for me, but someone at work shares the same initial so I gave it her. A book on home remedies I bought with good intention and didn't use gifted to a work colleague who does actually make their own remedies. The people at work are so happy with my lovely "gifts" when I am more than delighted to pass them things that they will use and gain value from. All of the things gifted are brand new looking as I have bought them, or been bought them and just stored them in a drawer. The cups will be used in work by anyone as they seem to always disappear at the place we are at. Again, they were delighted there were cups available!
I've given up counting, I am still going though. x

I have just made a start on decluttering my shelves on the dresser in the lounge and got quite a lot of bits that I can happily part with. Sadly though even with those removed it still looks 'busy' but most of what's left are of sentimental value (some things the DD made when she was a child) and I couldn't part with them along with some alternative forms of lighting, a couple of small oil lamps and some candleholders. I shall have to be objective and look at them with 'new eyes' over the next couple of weeks to see what I actually need rather than what I can't part with, wish me luck?11

@boazu I often find it takes several attempts to whittle down the items that have a bit more meaning. It's still a start though and even if it looks busy it's still less busy than it was.
I have got rid of a laundry basket, put outside and rehomed by some passerby. One item a week may not be particularly impressive but I'm thinking tortoise and hare. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.10 -
One item a week is 52 items a year, that would be a winner!
My goodness this thread is good for me! I have just completely decluttered the bathroom cabinet and got rid of all the 'tail ends' of products in bottles, the things I bought that we didn't like but kept 'just in case' and things that had gone long out of date. I now have a full waste bin, a tidy cupboard and things rearranged so we can actually see what's in there to use, brilliant stuff, thank you so much.12 -
Back on the decluttering today, 2 black bags of clothes picked up by a lady (friend of a friend) who collects for refugees at her church. About 30 items gone! Also a big bag of magazines to someone who drives elderly folk to appointments. I feel quite proud of myself today!Magnolia Stellata9

Into the recycling box a shower gel bottle and a vinegar one. Does it count too if I have binned all the grass cuttings from the lawn which I mowed early this morning before it got too hot. Phew, scorchioboazu I still have some of the things my DD made and now I'm guilty of keeping some things I've received from my DGC too. My way is to ask myself "do I love an item, yes or no ?" If I waver then I put it back as I'm obviously not ready to part with it... yet.MrsSD no chance of getting rid of all the garden rubbish, not even in a month of Sundays, especially the very large logs which are too heavy for just one person to lift. I the love wildlife too and watch all the "Watches ". We have a visiting fox, a hedgehog and lots of birds and their offspring. At the moment we also have 3 baby squirrels, their antics keep me amused for ages, especially when they play tag with any clueless cat who happens to saunter into their play area
. We've even had the odd wandering weasel, a slow worm, toads/frogs and numerous field mice who seem to like nesting in DH's shed
BTW I saw 2 swallows this afternoon, wonder if this signals the start of a nice hot summer ?
Hope everyone is well, healing vibes and hugs coming your way if not.nan
