I've never had a card before with the 16 figure card number & the 3 figure security number on the same side.
Strikes me as a security weakness

Why do you think that?  With the old style cards any thief only had to turn the card over to see all the details anyway.
Cameras (or people with good eyesight and memory) can capture the details from one side of the card, allowing online use without stealing the card with these modern cards, but not with the older ones with the CVV on the reverse.

Because the thief may have just had sight of one side of the card, rather than having taken possession of the card.

Don't leave your card out for other people to see, then.

I wasn't actually thinking of leaving my card out for other people to see.

I been waiting hoping Virgin will offer better incentive, What do people think particularly wiith time of the year the most that box of wine could be sold for locally say via Facebook buy and sell , I am looking at it thinking would advertise it for £75 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/markets/article-8924133/Virgin-Money-boss-reveals-plan-lure-customers.html#comments

I prefer the £125 switch reward from hsbc than a case of wine, even if it is 'worth more'. And they have a savings option with a rate of 2.75%.

I've had a Virgin current account a few months now - and it's been a royal pain in the neck when it comes to making money transfers. I appreciate 'security' - and ensuring that it's really me requesting to move money around, but somehow my account has been flagged to 'verify' pretty much any transaction over £25. They've investigated and given me £60 compensation, but can't stop it from happening.

I should say it's not like I transfer money every day - it was around 4 transfers I attempted in a month - and all failed at the point of making them, and needed lots of follow up phone-calls and time wasting. (They were all for under £1000 - and as low as £50)

I've stopped using the account now - keeping it just for the interest - and have just opened a HSBC account using a Monzo as donor - and will enjoy my £125 when it arrives.

    Thanks bristolleedsfan
In an effort to tidy up multiple (largely unused) accounts before house move, I was just going to switch into an existing account. This looks interesting, so I'll hang on. Wonder if they'll start limiting number of accounts.

Definitely won't be choosing the non alcoholic wine though :D
