  • really useful..
  • Still can't access my account opened in August! Despite endless phone calls, emails etc! Given all this I might be hesitant to actually put any money in the account if it did ever work! And all for £1.68 a month till it drops!

As I have a Barclay's account which I've had for the past 40+ years and didn't want to do a bank switch, the VM current with savings was ideal as I don't have to have direct debits or regular amounts going into it each month.  I opened my VM account 3 weeks ago and so far I've had no problems.  When you log into the app it shows both accounts one under the other and you just select which one you want to do transactions on.  I have the maximum £1K in the current account to get the high interest rate and add money I make from eBay sales into the savings account.

    Wine offer now online:

    https://uk.virginmoney.com/current-accounts/brighter-money-bundle.

Sadly, it is not open to existing Virgin Money current account holders (or B, Clydesdale Bank or Yorkshire Bank current account holders). Great offer for newbies though.

    Detailed T&Cs here: https://uk.virginmoney.com/current-accounts/brighter-money-bundle#terms-and-conditions
  • This looks good - Thanks.

I might transfer my spare current account but it says it needs two direct debits.  Can anyone recommend quick and easy direct debits that could be set up.  I know I can easily set up Paypal for one of them.

    Thanks in advance

TBH at the moment, I need a case of wine more than I need a current account!
Must be a cellar in the sett.

I am planning to use (assuming that the T&Cs of the offer doesn’t require them to pay out, which I don’t think it does) a DD for each of two zero balance credit cards which are being moved to my TSB account. Not really quick as it takes a month or so but for me is easy and avoids a risk of a proper bill being unpaid.

I should really let them pay out before I switch it over to VM but as the CCs aren’t used anymore and will be closed soon, for the sake of a free case of wine I’m just going to assume that TSB will transfer them over.

It doesn't require you to set up direct debits... that's the reason I opened my VM account as I still want to keep my Barclay's account.
