Yes it is usually the next working day if falls on the weekend
I agree, but it is unusual for it to initially show with Friday's date early on Saturday morning when it falls on a Saturday.
I've been noticing such things occasionally with Yorkshire Bank for years. They probably happen more often than I've noticed. Yorkshire Bank and Virgin Money are of course both trading names of Clydesdale Bank, so probably all have the same back-end and policies for when weekend payments are earmarked.

Just paid £1000 into my Virgin current account, gross 2.00%. How much interest would this get me a month?

    £1,000 x 0.02 x 30 / 365 = £1.64 for a 30 day month.
    £1,000 x 0.02 x 31 / 365 = £1.70 for a 31 day month.

My motto is to just apply. Posters have certainly opened a single for them and their other half and a joint but that was when it was first launched may have tightened up

I shall be for ever grateful that my only reason for going online with Virgin current accounts is to check for the monthly interest and withdraw it. Tried it today though I feared it may be a day early. In their matey fashion I was invited to 'pop in' the code just sent to my phone. It didn't arrive. By the time I was logged out - with NO warning - because of no activity, it still hadn't arrived. Because I'd asked for three new codes I couldn't even try again, it was just locked. Nearly two hours later the codes arrived, three of them one after the other. Logged on again and you've guessed it - no interest yet credited. This has happened before. They are a joke. I've never liked them from the start but £2000 at 2% is not easy to ignore.

If you have the app installed, you don't need to 'pop in' any code. Either use the app directly, or if you prefer online banking, you just open the app for the confirmation.

NB. No interest for July yet for me, either.
