  • Evening everyone
Just catching up on the past few days. Sorry to hear of all the bad news Toni's friend, hope the remainder of the year is uneventful.
Thanks Dolly and Apple for good wishes for new job. Current FT job has been massively stressful so hoping for a much better working life from next year.
    MSE-ness as below:
Foodbank/charity donation - regular donations now done.
Eat well - ate well yesterday, actually cooked a proper meal with veg!
Savings/debt repayment - just got paid so making payment to CC.
Treat yourself - had lunch on Friday with colleague from PT job, nice end to the working week .
Invitations - lunch with sisters next week, not spent too much on outings...
Very merry Christmas - not gone overboard with presents or food; got some leftover goodies from work - box of crackers and box of biscuits :)
Exercise - been walking and went to pilates on Thursday eve.

Fun - went to relatives 100th birthday party today! Caught up with extended family who I don't see often - was lovely and brought home a slice of birthday cake to enjoy :)
Understand what motivates you. Debt repayment and spending time with DDs
NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs. Only managed 3 so far

    Festive wishes to all
    Deni xx

I have a tree. Not the best tree I've ever done but used a lot of tinsel to make it look right. More decorations left to do something in the kitchen and front room.

Worktops, a tree and a scented candle - luxury

  • I think I'm good to go. Filled the car up with petrol today, collected the meat from the butcher (gammon for us this year too - and pigs in blankets at ds insistence). Stayed out of the house for a couple of hours as both kids were suffering a bit of cabin fever.
Tomorrow is a 'sit in the house and wait for an engineer' day - I've been waiting for a repair to my broadband for over 6 months now. It would be lovely if 1. the engineer actually turned up and 2. they actually find and fix the fault. Then after that, family Christmas dinner with my mam and sister and our families. Should be nice, then hopefully I'll start feeling festive.
  • No4 checking in......

    Foodbank/charity donation - early December done ✅
Eat well - Having veg everyday so I’ll say yep
Savings/debt repayment. 5% managed atm but I’m trying
Treat yourself - Make sure you take time for yourself during December. Got my fave mag and having some me time
Invitations - Accept a maximum of 2 invitations during December. Failed so far as I’m not feeling the love for it. Does family stuff count?
Very merry Christmas - Don't get sucked into all the consumerism that surrounds Christmas, set your budgets for presents, food, etc and stick to them. Done this, wooooop!
Exercise - At this time of year, it can be difficult to motivate yourself to get out the house and exercise. I keep trying.

Fun - Think of fun things to do during December, preferably free. Wander round a Christmas market, watch a Christmas movie, make mince pies, etc. Watched Christmas movies and eaten cake.
Understand what motivates you - Think about what you want to achieve next year and why. How will you achieve your goals? Errrrrm good question
NSDs - Aim for 15 NSDs. Usual rules apply, you won't lose a NSD for ys items, petrol or medical reasons. Up to 14 👏
  • Hello everyone,

Well everything done. Himself has even wrapped his presents. Predictably the Boy has just sent me a text asking if I have any wrapping paper!

We're having gammon too and I've got spiced red cabbage cooking in the slow cooker to go with it. Apparently it smells amazing (unfortunately I have no sense of smell!).

Hoping to have a quiet, relaxing day tomorrow.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Ccl - in Tudor times, the festivities only started on the 25th. And went on for 12 days of feasting and revelry.

Today I am grateful for taking dd out for a tramp through the mud in the woods, for dh sending the necessary ecards, for watching a Tudor christmas programme (hence the above knowledge!), for a lovely bath and scrub, for finishing my book but having plenty more still to read, for dh making hm chips for tea.

DS was banned from the xbox for a few days after an incident on Saturday night, consequently we have been spending more time together and today he wanted to go out and get his Christmas shopping, this was because up until today he had no intention of doing any.

So I have been to Asda, Sainsburys and into our little town. Got a few basics in Asda and some Lindt chocs, got mulled wine in Sainsburys plus Christmas scented Zoflora and 2 bottles of Ribena Winter Spice (if you haven't tried this you have to). Called at my favourite charity shop as they were having a sale and picked up quite a few bits and bobs there (no clothes though which makes a change for me).

Made an unintentionally massive spiced bulgar wheat and broad been stew, there is about 3 portions left but I don't know when we will get around to eating it.

Mum needed a card so back to the card shop - less frantic today and more people serving. Went in oxfam to buy myself a pile of poo as no-one else seems to have bought it for me and a jigsaw for a £1 from another shop.

Took animal planters, tiny Christmas trees and cooking ingredients (in case the smalls were there and needed entertaining) and the handbag I'm taking away next weekend already loaded with a week's pills and a necklace and bracelet.

Beloved has gone to her parents until Saturday. DS3 carried several bags into the kitchen for me and I have had fun arranging all my spice jars.

Mum's lodger had brought her present so got to sit down for a while. Smalls had visited earlier so could relax a bit. Tied another batch of cards onto the tree, moved it as requested, then moved it back as 3 extension leads were not enough to get from the tree to the socket. Decorated tree moved across the room, then small tables and put out the ceramic tree.

Have also started making up both beds including parachute rolls across the bed to get to the inaccessible cupboard to get out the big fake sheepskin Type quilt ....and up the steps to suspend two lttle birds from the curtain pole. Bins have been put out at both houses.

A few bits to do tomorrow then will probably sleep through Christmas day except when cooking lunch.

Today I am grateful for no rain, pretty twinkly trees and lots of 'Call the Midwife'.

  • Evening everyone
I've paid a bit more towards the CC debt today.
Been to the greengrocers to buy fruit and veg for the next few days. Delegated task of queuing at the butchers to DD1 :)
Been to uni to collect DD2 who has been working till today in her holiday job. Managed to buy a few last minute gifts. Still need one more present, big sigh
Just got to do mum's taxi then going to chill and watch A Christmas Carol

  • Monday was NSD 14/15, last day of work for a few days, DD is bouncing off the walls, so tomorrow will probably be spent letting her run off some excess energy outside- the dog will enjoy a bonus big run at the park- but it never got above freezing today so may be a bit chilly. Got paid early this month, we don't normally, so have to remember not to touch what's in the account. I have cash in my purse from gumtree sales so that's all I'm letting myself spend until my "normal" payday.
