 Hey lovelies!
Well..it's been pay day round here so we've made our standard payment off the debts 5% or so down - and 95% to go!
I'm really trying to eBay like a maniac and raise some more funds whilst also not spending anything at all ever if I can help it. (Sorry to hear about your eBay trouble Toto - they are a massive bureaucratic immovable object sometimes aren't they???)
Having said that...
I had my hair cut and coloured yesterday though  cos I had an audition today for a job singing in a restaurant and I needed the confidence boost a glossy swingy bob could give me
I've also made a deal with (one of) my hairdressers that if I act as their extra receptionist / floor manager / dogsbody and junior for a couple of days just before Christmas when things go crazy for them I can have a couple of cuts and colours done in the new year for free.
It suits me, I'd rather do that, than try and sort out the tax for what will be a very temporary job.
And I can make tea, admire people's new do's, take the money and answer the phone - simultaneously if necessary!
I've spent over £460 on Christmas so far, but I've eBayed to pay for that on the Ebay Neutral Christmas Challenge.
(still got hubby, BIL, BIL's son and a few more bits for DD to go.)
The money we saved on the Grocery challenge for November has been added to Decembers Budget so I don't have to panic about money for all the christmas food. (but if I don't spend it it'll get thrown at the debt in the new year of course!)
We've won a Christmas hamper, but I don't really remember which competition it was I entered in order to win it so I haven't a clue what will be in it.
Let's hope it's got some actual food in it and it's not all stuff like balsamic vinegar in a glamorous bottle, port, and chutney.
(How ungrateful am I?????)

Hi Jacks!
I'm rooting for you! You know you can do it, just be inventive and you'll get there.
Cheers honey!
I am trying not to leave any stone unturned in my quest for debt-freedness, but eBay had some sort of spaz on Thursday so nothing I had scheduled listed properly so I've rescheduled it all for sunday instead.
I'm meeting a friend for a drink this week who does AQA to pick her brains and we'll hopefully meet in another friend's pub which should make the evening a lot cheaper.
Onwards an upwards honey innit?

Why would they throw you off Toto?
Jacks, you are a star. And I agree with the others, matched betting is a good income and SS is fab at guiding people through it.
Just a thought, did you do the no deposit bingo sites? Some MSE-rs made quite a bit on that
Cheers Gemmzie! :T
I'm going to get to grips with matched betting one night this week when everyone - including the cat - is out and I can concentrate properly.
Hmmm Bingo......? *adds that to list*
Thanks ever so much honey.

Hey Jacks
I'm still on ebay (crossing everything possible while touching wood) and I've had some auctions end today with a profit of £155.32. I have a bunch more ending tomorrow, so far those are on £588.77. I can't put that into my totals though because tomorrows stuff is business things which will go into the business account. I'm going to see how this week goes and if I'm still on ebay I'll root around the house and list everything I can.
Good luck on the singing job, do you sight sing? ever thought of looking out for bands and things who might need backup vocalists?
The hoosiers have asked me to be their lighting engineer for the coming tours (I do all the lighting for the business) this translates to can you play second drums while operating the lighting board. It's all tempting, it really is. The money is good but I'm back with the age old problem of leaving the kids for 2 months at a time and I just don't feel I can do that. I have done in the past but amber is at a funny stage, she's very attached to me (almost like that baby stage when they cry if you leave the room) so it isn't fair to her. She copes for a few days here and there but any longer and she'd suffer. So, it's my duty to be a stay at home mum at the moment and sod the money.
The christmas hamper sounds good when will you get it? I'm loving the fact I don't need to buy in christmas food this year.:A

Hi Jacks,
I was gonna wish you good luck with your challenge, but I don't really think you will need it, I am totally convinced you will do it.
You are always very upbeat and confident in your posts and they are a pleasure to read.
I will be popping in to check up with your progress and give myself some motivation.
Keep up the good work

Hey sweetie,
I'm just about to go on eBay in a minute. I've set myself a target of listing 20 things today and I don't have pics of all of them yet so I may not be around DFW much today!
I always had trouble leaving my kids - even to go to work for 8 hours! (I'm a muppet.) We worked all kinds of magic so that I could stay home as much a possible and only go to work when their much more interesting Daddy was around to take care of them instead!
It's really hard being a working mum cos whatever your arrangements you always feel that you *should* be with your kids more, but you also feel that you *should* be contributing to the household finances more as well. (Or at least I always feel like that.)
The hamper is an M&S one and the blurb email they sent me to arrange delivery says it's worth almost £250 so I'm hoping for excellent goodies! It's coming on the 16th, and it's refrigerated having just read the email again so it can't be all balsamic vinegar and fennel chutney can it? :rolleyes:I've got my fingers crossed for actual useful food.
The singing audition was a moment of lunacy really.
Somebody told me that this particular restaurant was looking for a girl singer for the Christmas season - my son's girlfriend is a singer so I keep my ear to the ground for opportunities for her.
But she turned her nose up at £130 a night for about 3 weeks of nights with only (most of the) Sundays and Mondays off whereas I would happily take their almost £2k for a couple of weeks work so I thought "Why not?"
I haven't been paid to sing for a really long time though, and I'm rusty to say the least. Like most people I sing in the car and the shower, to my kids (and when I'm washing up!) but that's not really proper practice is it?
I think if it's down to the keyboard player I'd be working with I haven't got it.
He was visibly more excited at the prospect of working with one of the young girl singers than with me or the other older lady there. (and I mean visibly! )
Plus I was totally honest about my lack of practice and recent experience so they might be worried about taking a chance on me.
But part of the job is being an MC as well and compering the end of year award ceremonies etc that some of the christmas bookings have, and getting everyone up dancing and stuff - and I'd be tons better at that than some of the more professional singers who gave off a "I'm too cool for this" kind of attitude. I think the manager could see that as well so we'll see.
Right. eBay beckons!
Love Jacks xxx
PS I used to be able to sight sing - well I was learning to and getting better at it anyway but I'd be horribly out of practice now. I might have to try a few things out and see if I can awaken that talent. Cheers for the suggestion honey. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Hey sweetie! :hello:
I now have a very minimalist capsule wardrobe, hardly anything left in my unused "back up" cosmetics stash and no dvd / book / cd kind of clutter left now at all - so my husband keeps joking that he's expecting to find himself, the kids and the cat on there soon!
Cheers honeybun,

Ooh I love when their coat looks like that - cos you know all's well on the inside too.
I s'pose I'm hoping to get the singing job- but not really expecting to - but I promise you'll know as soon as I do!
Cheers cherb!
