How about doing some proper practice with your son's girlfriend? some scales and the like? Does she have a keyboard? I'd love to come and have a listen if you get this singing job. You know I have the odd contact and could get you some work when you're ready. Failing that, we'll have to get you a demo sorted, I'll round up a few musos who owe me a favour in the new year and we'll do a studio day if you're up for it? I'll use the Osborn Street. London studio which I can borrow for free. I love that studio actually, it's dead retro with its carpet on the walls. And the piano is still in there which queen recorded bohemian rhapsody on
we'll have a bit of fun, so get rehearsing

I was gonna wish you good luck with your challenge, but I don't really think you will need it, I am totally convinced you will do it.
You are always very upbeat and confident in your posts and they are a pleasure to read.
I will be popping in to check up with your progress and give myself some motivation.
Keep up the good work

I think I definitely will do it honey - with fab encouragement like that! :T :A
What a lovely thing to say! :j
I'll definitely take any luck you can send my way as well though.
Have a massive hug from me and I think that of I needed any extra motivation the thought of letting all of you lovely DFW-ers down will be enough to stop me from failing!
Hope so anyway!

I'm just uploading some pics to Auctiva so while that happens I thought I'd nip back for a sec.
Addicted - moi???
Although...in my defence...MSE is my home page so I expect my light comes on every time I open a new window.
Honest.
I'm just trying to hammer the debt with everything possible and from every direction we can think of - cos the thought of having it done and dusted in time for next christmas makes me a bit tearful. (in a good way!)

I love the way that one day you were talking about washing up and now you might be a spangly singer!Ooh I know honey!
I still may end up as the washer upper yet!
Although I have got both of my long spangly dresses out of their vacuum bags ready to steam just in case cos I always try and think positive!
I thought it was probably too much to turn up at the audition looking like Shirley Bassey so I wore my jeans and a floaty (slightly spangly) top. The other older lady turned up in her stage clothes but all the young things had jeans on so I think I made the right call.
As for my son, we watched a property programme about how much you need to earn to buy a house these days and which areas are the worst for pricing young people out of the market - and round here is definitely one of the worst hit areas.
I don't think he really understood before how your wages dictate what house you can afford to buy and the programme explained it so well I could see him panicking while he was watching it.
Afterwards he worked out that he'd need to buy with someone else AND have a sizeable deposit in order to buy round here as on his current salary he'd only get a mortgage for about £56K and bedsit flats start at £110k+
I'm glad he's trying to be sensible too. His girlfriend wants him to get a nice car and take her on holiday but I hope he'll be able to be a little sensible about pressure liike that.
(He bought her Birthday and Christmas pressies via Quidco!)
Cheers honey!

I know.... Bohemian Rhapsody huh?
I won't be intimidated much will I?
As for the capsule wardrobe I feel quite liberated having very few clothes.
I kept reading about how we only wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time so I emptied out one of the wardrobes and everytime I wore and washed something I put it in there.
It didn't take long before I could see what I wore over and over again - and what was just taking up space.
So I rescued my wet suit and a couple of long dresses, really summery stuff that I may only wear for a couple of weeks a year but I still need and a few special occasion things, then I sold the rest on eBay and to a local dress agency.
And then we sold the wardrobe too!
Love Jacks xxx
PS I'll definitely be on here moaning when I'm feeling pooey and demotivated honey, but I really appreciate you saying that. :TNot everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
Sounds like you are going great guns Jacks, imagine how you will feel next December when you're debt free!! :j
I'm trying to motivate myself to ebay some of my junk, sorry, ahem, old treasures but keep getting sidetracked! :rolleyes:0
