  • I can’t see the cheaper one unfortunately - the reason why (I’m guessing) the house hasn’t sold yet is because the estate agents they’re using are utter idiots. I called them yesterday to book a viewing, but because I refused to use their mortgage broker (because I don’t need to, I have a decision in principle already) the guy started tutting & sighing down the phone & then hung up on me! He then rang back and said I can’t see the house because the vendor has been told that she needs a covid test. I didn’t believe him. He’s obviously only wanting to sell it to people who use his mortgage broker 🙄🙄

After that I decided to make an offer on the house I saw. I went £10K under the asking price (and £10K above the other house that I’m banned from seeing 😂) and it was declined. They said they’d accept an offer that was £5K more. I chanced my luck after talking to the estate agent and increased my offer by £3K. They still said no, which I must admit I was surprised at as it’s 2 brothers selling it (it’s their late father’s house) and so offering £2K less than what they’d accept means they would only lose £1K each. They’re having to pay to keep the house at the moment. I’m not in a chain as I have first time buyers buying my flat, and it’s going well (draft contracts have been sent) so personally I think it was a bit silly of them to say no. But there we go! Even the estate agent was surprised at their decision.

Today I made an offer on a house that I saw a couple of weeks ago (3 bed semi-detached). I didn’t offer anything before because it’s over my budget & it hadn’t been on the market long, so I didn’t think it was worth offering something a bit cheeky, however it’s still not sold so I thought I’d offer the maximum amount I can afford. I don’t think the vendor will accept to be honest, it’s £10k less than what he wants & the house is priced well, but you never know! I’ll probably find out tomorrow.

Gosh that’s a lot of talk about houses! And I’ve not even spoken about the forms I’ve had to fill out for the flat sale, and all the money I’ve paid out 😭😭

Today marks 7 years since I gave birth to my sleeping baby girl. Always a sad day 😔💔 We went to visit her today at the cemetery, and then when we got home I received a delivery from 3 close friends. Flowers, chocolates and a card. Bless them, so sweet x
  • Sending you lots of luck on your house search and hugs for this special day xx
  • Sorry about your sad day, nearly 20 years for me and he’s still in my thoughts.

However, I am gonna make a cheeky suggestion! The house you have been unable to see.... why not pop a note through their door? Say their agent hung up on you and refused to speak to you and if they would like to contact you direct? My parents did this years ago and it worked

I was thinking the same! Pop a note through.  I'd be very peed off if I engaged an estate agent and they refused to send people my way.

  • I did contemplate popping a note through the seller’s door, however there is a tiny chance that the estate agent is telling the truth, and I’m not sure doing that is a good idea if she does need a covid test!

I've decided that if my offer for the 3-bed semi is declined then I will call up the idiot estate agents again and hopefully speak to someone else who isn’t a n*b 😁 I can always threaten to pop a note through the lady’s door if they don’t want me to book a viewing 😉
  • Fingers crossed you get somewhere with the offer on the house. If the other house has only just gone on market you may find they are willing after a few more weeks to accept the offer that was 2k short. But good for you for sticking to your guns over it.

If the EA is telling the truth surely he could have booked you an appointment at a later date once the sellers' self isolation was over?

  • You’d think so wouldn’t you! I did speak to the estate agent again yesterday & they said they were struggling to get hold of the vendor. So I’ll be ringing again tomorrow 😂 I don’t mind annoying them!

I still haven’t been told if my low offer has been accepted by the owner of the 3-bed semi. The estate agent told me yesterday that she couldn’t get hold of him or his partner and she was a bit concerned as it’s out of character apparently. I’ve heard nothing since so I might call her tomorrow. I hope the guy is ok!

I’m booked in to see another 3-bed semi on Monday. 2 problems with it already. 1) it needs a good scrub, and the bathroom needs replacing immediately. 2) it’s only 1.5 miles away from my ex 😒

What else to update you with? Work is absolutely manic as always. Home schooling is terrible. And I am officially now that person who gets glammed up just to go to the supermarket 😂😂😂 Considering it’s the only place I go now (except my parents’ house - I went round there last night for dinner 😋) I always like to make an effort when I need to go food shopping 😂

I found some really old photos last night on a cd which gave me hours of entertainment! They were mostly of nights out from around 2005/6 😂 Back when I used to go out in tiny belly tops and skirts that looked more like belts 🙈 No wonder my dad didn’t like me going out, I was almost naked! It was so much fun going through all the pictures. Back when I was young & care-free 😍 Good times!!
  • I had my bathroom replaced within a few days of moving into my place. Not ideal but was a good feeling once done and I just kept things in boxes for the first week whilst they did the bathroom.

Will the ex know where you are and is there anywhere you are likely to bump into them? It's amazing how easy it is to live near someone and never see them...

  • The ex wouldn’t know where I live unless he sees my car parked outside the house. We have some mutual friends, but to be honest he rarely speaks to most of them now, and I’d be careful about who I give my address to.

I have some news! My low offer on the 3-bed semi has not been declined! It’s not been accepted either... the seller is going to sit down tonight & do some sums. I should know the outcome by Monday. My prediction is he will say no but come back with a counter offer. I’m keeping everything crossed though! I really love the house ❤️ Eeeeek! 🙏🏼
