I'm another who agrees - there is no place for people to be abusive; it's just not on.  If people had obeyed the rules in the first place Christmas wouldn't be "cancelled" in the way it has been.  I just wish it had never been agreed for the 5 days in the first place.

DH and I had already decided we weren't going anywhere or having anyone come to us long before they'd even said about the 5 day "holiday".  Sorry but the virus doesn't know it's Christmas!

  • Good evening! I hope everyone is doing ok. I’m still in a tier 2 area but I feel pretty down about the state of this country so I can only imagine how those in tiers 3 and 4 are feeling. One of my bosses is very upset as her Christmas plans have been cancelled & she won’t be seeing anyone except her husband. I really feel for her.

I didn’t go into the office today due to my cold and I’m so glad I didn’t, as apparently staff from tier 4 went in!! My close colleagues were understandably fuming & ended up going home.

I’ve been paid already so I’ve adjusted my spreadsheet. I’m still waiting for HMRC to update my tax credits. I hope they hurry up soon as I want to see a mortgage broker, but it’s pointless until I know my total income.

My cold is definitely better today but my energy levels are still shocking so it’ll be another early night for me. Unless the girls don’t sleep that is! They know they’re seeing Santa tomorrow at their favourite soft play place so they’re very excited lol 😁

At the moment the equity in my flat stands at £26,779.37 (this will increase each time my mortgage repayment goes out) and my savings are £3,250.00. It’s going to cost me around £5.5K to get the flat off my hands though. Over £1K of that is a year’s worth of service charges that I offered to pay. It was the only way I could sell it! 😩 I’m going to transfer £750.00 into my savings account at the end of the month to make it £4K. I’m hoping to save at least £750.00 a month until the sale is complete 🙂

The trouble is that the PM said that people in Tier 4 could still go to work IF they were unable to work from home but it sounds as though your colleagues could have done so they really shouldn't have.

  • It’s Christmas Eve! 🎅🏼🎄🎁 I have managed to catch up on some much needed sleep (I slept terribly the night before, and struggled all day as a result) and now I’m sat in bed, coffee on my bedside table & my laptop beside me. Let’s talk some numbers!

My tax credits have been updated to a really low number - I’m guessing it’s because I was overpaid for a couple of months when I wasn’t working & when it was updating. I’ve been on a few mortgage calculators to get an idea of what I can borrow & the number is a bit disappointing. I’m not going to get anything amazing with it. But that’s ok. There is a house for sale that was reduced to £150K in October. It is on the same road as OH which I’m not sure about in case we split again! But it has 3 bedrooms so the girls would have their own room which is amazing and the area is good. The house needs work but nothing too crazy so I might book in a viewing and have a look.

My buyer’s surveyor came round yesterday. The company he works for had text me 3 times during the previous 24 hours, telling me how I must tell them if anyone in the household is self-isolating or has covid symptoms. He then rang me the night before and yesterday morning asking me the same question. I get that we need to be careful but for goodness sake, being contacted 5 times in 24 hours about it is ridiculous! I had a moan at him about it. I was too tired & stressed to be feeling harassed by him & his employer! Anyway, the survey is done so that’s another step in the right direction.

The weather here was atrocious yesterday and some poor guy drove an hour and 40 minutes last night to look at our water pump which had gone off again 🙄 When he looked at it though he said it wasn’t because of a power cut like it normally is, it was because someone had actually switched it off!!! The poor bloke drove all that way in the awful weather just to switch a pump on!!! Weirdly, the managing agents had called someone out last week to look at it and that person came out on Saturday. Makes you wonder what he actually did.

2 days ago I finished work at 2:30pm so that I could take the girls to their favourite soft play place and meet Santa. It was actually very lovely. They decorated gingerbread men and danced under the snow machine. When it came to meeting Santa, they told him they wanted gifts that were really cheap, like a unicorn teddy and a doll! I thought, you could’ve mentioned these gifts before and not a Nintendo Switch!! 😂😂😂 Which their grandparents have bought them by the way! My ex (as in the girls’ dad) came with us too, and we met up with my friend and her daughter who is DD2’s best friend. My friend is 8 months pregnant now and I do not envy her one bit - being pregnant during a pandemic can not be fun. We left there at 6pm & I was so exhausted, so I went home via the Chinese take away, which the girls really appreciated! Money well spent there.

Today I am finally seeing OH after 12 days apart. I am going to his house, probably after lunch. This morning I need to bank the work cheques and tidy up a bit.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas. And a big hug to those in tier 4. It sucks. I will be thinking of everyone, genuinely... I really hate the thought of people being sad at Christmas. Sending you all lots of love ❤️

Oh and as of Boxing Day I’ll be in tier 3. Which I was expecting. And I feel less anxious since the news weirdly, I think it’s because I knew it was coming. In fact I thought it would be tier 4! I’m sure it won’t be long before we are all in tier 4 to be honest. January & February are not going to be good months I don’t think. Anyway, that’s enough doom & gloom! Lots of love xxx
  • Happy Boxing Day!!!

I hope you all had a good day yesterday. Mine was good, although I was absolutely shattered by about 2pm 😂 I find the day so exhausting! But it was really lovely and we all got spoilt. The girls got an obscene amount of presents as my parents have no self-control. I only got them a couple of presents (well, 2 presents from just me and then I also went halves on a third with my ex) and the living room floor was still covered!

My parents got me some lovely gifts too and apparently they’re going to put some money into my account aswell 🥰 I don’t know how much but I’ve decided that whatever they give me is going into savings.

The £150K house I mentioned has reduced to £145K so I have asked to view it. It’ll hopefully be on Tuesday when I’m still off work but I should know for sure soon. My parents are going to view it with me 😀

Right, I’d better crack on with the day! xxx
  • My mum transferred £100.00 to me so I’ve thrown it into my savings account. I’ve also transferred £750.00 of my own money to savings, so the total amount in the account is now £4,100.00. When my mortgage repayment goes out next week it will mean I’ll have £26,928.76 equity. Add that to my savings gives me a total of £31,028.76. After all the costs have been paid for getting rid of the flat I’ll be left with around £25,364.05 as a deposit. Not as much as I’d like in all honesty. If I’m going to buy another property (and not rent) then that means I’ll also need to pay more legal fees, stamp duty etc however I’m going to be saving a fair bit between now & when the sale completes which should cover these costs.

Buying & selling property is so expensive isn’t it! 🤯🤯🤯

Yesterday me & the girls went through their 2 toy boxes and got rid of so many toys. A lot went in the bin and then some will be sold or given away (mostly given away to be honest!). I want to keep decluttering this flat until it’s time to move 🙂

I’ve seen another property that I might go & view. It’s a 2-bed so it would mean the girls sharing again, however it’s a semi-detached so only one set of neighbours to worry about. It also looks like it needs less work than the other house I’m viewing. And it’s not in the same place as where OH lives so if we did break up then I wouldn’t be at risk of bumping into him in the street 😂 I will call the estate agents when they open and ask to view it 😊 It’s on for £5K more than the other house but I can still afford it so we’ll see!
  • The semi-detached property has sold but I am viewing another house this Saturday - it’s a 3-bed end of terrace which is great! And it’s an almost new-build. The downside is that it’s 75% shared ownership, so it’s a leasehold 🤯🤯 I think I’m mad to be honest. Hopefully I’ll hate it 😂 I still can’t get a proper mortgage offer as my tax credits are wrong. They hadn’t updated my predicted profits for my self-employed job. So I’ve updated it again & now I need to wait for them to update...again 🤦🏼‍♀️

I met with a friend today. The plan was to go walking round the lake with a coffee but just as I arrived it started snowing! So after we bought our drinks we found a bench underneath some shelter & sat there instead 😂

I’m back at work tomorrow but only for a couple of days and then it’s a long weekend. I’ll be working from home too as I’ll have the girls 😊 Poor kids will be glued to their tablets probably! I’ll try and take them out for a bit at some point.
  • It’s day 1 of Tier 4 for me so my January beauty appointments have been cancelled. I’m looking at it as more money to throw towards the house deposit 😊 Luckily support bubbles are still allowed so I can still go to my parents’ house. The girls and I went there for dinner yesterday which was lovely & I’ll be there tonight to see in the new year. I don’t fancy being on my own & the neighbours will probably get drunk & stupid, which I can do without!

Work hasn’t been too bad, in fact it’s been nice as most people are off so I can get things done without interruption! 😀

I’ll be walking into 2021 as a completely single woman. I’ve not heard anything from that person who I referred to as “OH” in 4 days, and it’s been wonderful. I’ve woken up from the 10-week nightmare and I can’t believe how much I let him get into my head. I wish I could say more. I’m better off away from him and this time I know it’s what I want as my appetite hasn’t been affected and I haven’t cried once. My parents and friends are relieved as they’ve been wanting me to ditch him for ages because of how I was being treated.

And on that note, I wish you all a happy new year!!! Let’s hope that 2021 is better overall, even if it is a rocky start for most of us ❤️ xxx

Hey everyone! Happy new year! 🥂

I slept round my parents’ house last night but we didn’t stay up until midnight. We were all too tired lol. It was a nice evening though & there were some hints that they may gift me some money to boost my house deposit. I really hope they do, that would be amazing! I’ve seen a house on the market that I would absolutely love. It’s slightly out of my budget but if I received money from my parents I’d be able to buy it! As soon as the estate agents open I’ll call them & book a viewing (my mum told me to despite knowing I can’t afford it on my own so maybe she will help me). I’m viewing the shared ownership house in the morning but I’m not 100% sure on that one for obvious reasons.

I’ve transferred £250.00 into my savings account so I have £4,350.00 in there now. Building that deposit pot up slowly but surely!! 😁

I put a few of the kids’ toys & clothes on eBay and one item has a bid on already 😊😊 I also sorted one of my kitchen cupboards out and it looks MUCH better now! Unfortunately my living room is covered in unopened packets & jars of food, bottles of drink, toys, clothes & unwanted items that I need to either bin, donate or sell 😩 My hallway has unwanted toys in there too! I’ll be glad when I get rid of it all!

The kitchen got a deep clean today and I also spent an hour & 40 minutes talking to a friend who I’ve not spoken to in AGES 😍 it was soooo so nice catching up!

The timing of things always makes me laugh. Obviously this week I chose not to have anything more to do with my ex. Since I made that decision, I’ve had a friend request on a social media platform from an ex from years ago. I have accepted, and he’s been clicking on my profile regularly (this s/m platform tells you whenever someone views your profile). I would never go back there, however it made me smile! Timing is funny sometimes.

I hope you are all ok readers! Really hoping this is a better year for everyone 🙏🏼
  • The house viewing went well - in fact the rooms are bigger than what I expected! Decent-sized rooms (except the bathroom, but I can live with that!), I couldn’t hear the next-door neighbours at all, nice garden, and easy parking. Everything is fresh & new. The negatives (aside from the shared ownership thing) are it’s right by a dual carriageway and the distance from the girls’ school & work isn’t amazing. Not terrible either though!

I’m viewing the out of budget house on Wednesday 🙂 That will give me a better understanding of what I want. I drove passed it today and the parking is atrocious 😂

I ended up driving to my parents’ house at 10:15pm last night as my inconsiderate neighbours were being ridiculous and I just couldn’t sleep. I’ll be so glad when I get out of here!!! I hope they’re not the same tonight as the girls will be back here from their dad’s - they’ll be here any minute in fact 🥰
