Good morning! I’m laying in bed listening to the rain as I type this. It’s Saturday morning and DD2 is already up playing on her tablet. DD1 is still in bed. I have so much to do this weekend it’s not even funny 🙈 I need to do more Christmas/birthday shopping, fill out some doctors forms, fill out the thousands of solicitor forms for the flat sale, housework, get the car cleaned, get my glasses tightened, and collect something from Next. Oh, and spend quality time with the girls, see my parents, and see my “ex” who’s not really an ex but I don’t know what else to call him right now 😂 and do some work. I was working until 9:15pm last night & I still have so much to do.
So yeh I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed but I’m going to try & not think about it too much. Easier said than done!
I’ll update on the “ex” situation. Things are good now but it’s been up & down. We seemed to have forgotten how to communicate properly to each other. We are both being open & honest now and it’s much better, so hopefully it will continue to be good. Tomorrow will mark 8 weeks since the break up & I honestly don’t know how I’ve got through it. Then again, I have a great support network - my mum & 4 of my friends have been absolutely amazing ❤️A couple of days ago I had a consultation with an orthodontist. She agreed that a brace would be good for me, however, she wants to take 2 top teeth out first! Luckily one of the teeth is a baby tooth, but still, it makes me feel very nervous. She also quoted a really high price for the brace & I know I can get it much cheaper so I’m going to Google other dental practices and book in more consultations. I have got an X-ray booked with this particular orthodontist next month but I can always cancel it if I need to 🙂
I’m waiting for tax credits to update as I told them about my new job. Once that’s done I am going to call a mortgage broker & get the ball rolling 😀 it’ll be good once I know if I can buy somewhere half decent! 😁
I hope you all have a lovely weekend! 😀🥂🍻🎉 xxx0 -
I had two teeth pulled (wisdom teeth, which are huuuge) this year. It's honestly not bad at all. I hate medical stuff but it's funny how it literally doesn't hurt at all when they pull it because they numb you up so much. You'll be fine! It heals quickly too.1

I think it’s the injection that bothers me the most! And the pain once the pain relief wears off. I hate taking painkillers 😬 I still need to search for other dental practices - I’ll try & do that tonight.
All the Christmas & birthday shopping is finally done! Some presents were ordered online but hopefully I’ll have them all here by next weekend. Then it’s the small task of wrapping them all 😬🙈 Fun times! A couple need to be sent by post, so I’ll need to do that this week.
I managed to fill out the doctors forms and get them posted, and some of the solicitor forms. I couldn’t do them all as my parents’ printer ran out of ink, so I’ll try & print the rest off tomorrow at work. I’m sure they won’t mind! I couldn’t get the car cleaned as it was raining & I only managed to do about half of the housework - I knew my to-do list was a bit too big! I did manage to do all my washing though 😊
This week is going to be crazy at work (as ever!). Tomorrow is going to be a challenge in particular, but I’m sure I’ll get through it in one piece 😉 Aside from working a million hours this week, I also have a hygienist appointment (joy) & a date with my sort-of ex (our date last night was lovely - things are definitely getting better thank god). And present-wrapping... lots of present wrapping!0 -
I'm an absolute needlephobe too. It's not even really the pain of the needle so much as the thought of it. I hate blood tests especially and I passed out at school every time I had to have a jab.
Make sure you find a dentist you are comfortable with. When I had mine out, I felt a bit more at ease because the dentist was a really lovely, young, calm and quiet man who I could just tell would be good. I explained to him at the appointment beforehand that I was a mega needlephobe and really was worried about the injections. I said I'd rather not know when they're coming personally, I'd rather not see the needle either.
He told me to open my mouth and basically didn't say anything about the needle incoming. I swear to god I did not feel it. I thought maybe he was poking me with one of the other tools they use, the little picky one, because nothing felt like a needle. Then he said it was done and I said are you serious? 5 minutes later I was completely numb and stayed like that for about 5 hours!
Finding a good dentist is the best!
I didn't feel much pain after the tooth was removed either. That might have been because I had an abscess so was in a lot of pain before and desperate for anything to relieve it. But the pain from having the tooth pulled really isn't too bad. I don't think I took any painkillers afterwards. It was more a bit tender but not enough to warrant drugs.0 -
Thanks greensalad! Good to know! I’ve been to see the hygienist today - I clearly love having my teeth looked at & scraped at the moment 😂 £71.50 later and I have lovely super clean teeth 😁
It’s been a strange week already & it’s only Tuesday. Yesterday I had a headache pretty much all day, my broadband was down (and still is), DD2 was snotty & couldn’t sleep, and work was crazy. The headache disappeared by bedtime luckily however DD2 kept waking up so both of us had a bad night. Sky Broadband are sending an engineer out this week but in the meantime I’m using my phone’s hotspot so I can work from home which really isn’t ideal, but there we go.
I spoke to one of my manager’s yesterday about the workload. I know they know I’m very busy & they’re very supportive, but I wanted to reiterate it as I’d seen a couple of e-mails from colleagues outside our department asking why some things weren’t done. I’m now diarising what I do in a day, so they can see how long certain tasks take & we can see if we can improve certain processes. I spoke to another manager today & she was very much like “please don’t worry, you only have one pair of hands & one brain!” I think they’re trying to push for 1-2 more staff members but they’ve got to persuade the owners. My idea of keeping a diary might be enough to persuade them. In the meantime it’s a case of trying not to drown 😂
OH (I’ll call him OH now, as he basically is) is having a very bad week. I don’t want to say why on here but I was meant to see him tonight & I can’t because something has happened. I’m just trying to be as comforting as I can.
I’m now wrapping Christmas presents, a job I absolutely loathe 😂 gah! Can’t wait for it to be all done! On the plus side, almost everything has been delivered now! Just 2 more presents & then I have everything! Although I may buy OH one more thing, especially with what’s going on. We’ll see x0 -
Happy hump day!!! AKA - Wednesday, not meaning I’m going to “hump” someone like what my colleague thought it meant 😂😂😂
Work was as busy as ever however I did manage to sneak out to the Post Office at lunchtime & post my best friend’s Christmas pressies and another friend’s birthday card & voucher. The only thing I need to post now are the solicitor forms, however they’re not all going to fit in one envelope due to the amount of paperwork they need me to send (leasehold life!) so I’m going to e-mail them & ask if I can drop them off instead. Hopefully they’ll be ok with that.
I managed to wrap about half of the Christmas presents last night. I might wrap the birthday gifts tonight (1 birthday on Christmas Eve and 2 birthdays on 23rd - my friends are so unreasonable 😂) and then see if there’s anything else that I can buy for OH. I can’t think of much else to be honest. He’s still having a rough time though & I want to cheer him up.
My savings have increased by £250.00, so there’s now £3,250.00 in the account 😊 I want to save as much as I can between now & when I move into my new place! Especially as I ended up making a £2.5K loss on this flat. Such a poor decision buying this place I tell you! But I’ve learnt a lot, so it wasn’t a complete fail, and a £300 monthly mortgage payment was quite nice 😂

It’s a tradition for DD2 to bring home a cold the week before Christmas and pass it to me. DD1 is luckily never affected but me & DD2 always suffer. DD2 is feeling better now but I’ve spent all day blowing my nose & feeling rather rubbish. As a result I won’t be able to join in the Christmas fun in the office tomorrow 😢 I’m quite sad about it actually, I was really looking forward to it! Never mind, these things happen & I don’t want anyone else to catch the dreaded lurgy. Luckily I don’t have any covid symptoms.
In other news, my broadband is back working (some wally had been messing about with the cabinet and decided to give me someone else’s phone line!) and I have wrapped most of the Christmas presents. I just have 2 more to do plus all of OH’s. I decided to buy him a couple of extra pressies which should be arriving early next week. He’s had a better day today so that’s good.
I don’t have much else to report really. It’s only 8:30pm but I’m already in bed as I feel exhausted 😴 I’m hoping I sleep well & feel better in the morning! Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 x0 -
I didn’t sleep all that great last night but my nose isn’t like a tap any more. I still feel rubbish but not as bad. I’m more exhausted than anything.
I have wrapped all the Christmas presents up now. I’ll have to wrap the 2 extra presents for OH when they arrive but that’s it. I’m so glad it’s all done! I got a lovely delivery this morning from work which was a Christmas hamper 😊 very sweet of them!
Tonight will be a case of eating dinner (pizza - I can’t be bothered to cook properly and I’m sure the girls will appreciate it!) and going to bed. Hopefully I’ll sleep better tonight 🤞🏼0 -
Warning: this is a massive rant!
The PM announced yesterday that the Christmas bubbles rule will apply to just Christmas Day and not the 5-day period that was previously allowed. He also introduced tier 4 for certain areas of England. His announcement seems to have given people the right to be completely disrespectful on social media platforms to others who do not share their opinion. I’ve seen some horrendous comments today, mostly from mothers of small children! They should be ashamed of themselves! I understand that people are upset & frustrated but it does not excuse the swearing and the name-calling that I’ve seen on my friends’ posts 😡
I’ve not said a word so none of it was directed at me but I’ve had to deactivate my Facebook account to stop me from logging on & reading the BS. I get both sides of the argument - I understand why people are angry at others for not following the rules, and I understand why people are breaking them (slightly - I do not agree with those who are having huge house parties etc) due to their mental health & sanity. I get it. But this latest announcement has turned a lot of people into nasty bullies & I’m sick of reading about it!
I’m also sick of being ill. Ok, it’s just a cold, but I feel exhausted constantly & I’m so over it! I’ve got to go food shopping shortly, I’m trying to clean & tidy the flat, and I need to do a couple of other things and I just want to sleep! I was meant to be seeing OH today but I cancelled because I don’t want to pass these germs onto him. Gah!
Sorry for moaning but if you are guilty of being abusive on social media then can you please just stop & act your age?! 🙄3 -
Totally agree about the unnecessary comments on FB, someone I know starting spouting about not being able to buy presents because of not getting paid until Xmas Eve - so want to say 'get a grip'. We all know it's hard and harder for many more than me but I don't get the thoughts of entitlement that people have and woe betide if you have a different opinion.
I hope the food shop isn't too stressful and you feel better soon.
H x1
