  • Bad news from the EA. I’m gutted 😞
  • Right, I’ve had 4 days to snap out of my disappointed mood and have instructed the EA to reduce the price again, state there’s no chain in the description (which they should’ve done already!) and also offer to pay the first year’s service charges for the new buyer. If that doesn’t work then I’m out of ideas!!!

I’ve thrown myself into my new side biz and organising my mum’s birthday garden party. Both are going well. I really hope the weather is nice on the day!!! My dad sent me a load of money to put towards a nice cake for her, a flower wall, big posh balloons etc. The invites are interesting as I’m having to spread out the guests due to Covid rules 😬

Oh, I’ve also asked work if I can reduce my hours from next month to 25 a week (school hours). I should know by Friday.

Money wise, I’ve sent £500.00 to my family member so I now owe them £6,000.00. They’re hinting at writing the debt off but I’m just going to keep paying them!
  • The estate agent has updated the listing however they STILL haven’t said there’s no chain 🙄 I don’t know why. I pointed it out to them last night when I realised and they’ve still not changed it so I will call them tomorrow.

I have someone viewing the flat on Sunday but I’m just not getting my hopes up at all now. The whole thing is draining me.

I was meant to find out today if my request for working part-time was accepted but despite chasing up my boss I’ve heard nothing. I really need to know soon because if it’s a no then I need to try & arrange childcare.

In more positive news I’ve had my hair done & the girls have new school shoes/boots. I had a £10 love 2 shop voucher that I put towards them so it cost £86 in total. I’ll get half back from their dad. 6 days to go until they go back to school - they both need it!
  • I’m home from a lovely night away with OH 😍 The location we chose was quite, erm, special 😂 but regardless we had a great time. It was so nice to spend some proper quality time away with him & have a change of scenery ❤️

While we were away I got a few phone calls from the Estate Agent. The lady who viewed it yesterday really liked it but she has 2 other properties to view this week before she makes a decision. Someone else viewed it yesterday aswell but I’ve received no feedback yet. I’ve got someone viewing it tomorrow, and then another woman wants to view it but she has a dog & she wasn’t sure if the lease stated that pets were allowed so I need to confirm that tomorrow. So it’s picking up! No offers yet but hopefully one will happen soon 🙏🏼

Just a 2-day working week this week as I have booked off Thursday & Friday 😊 My plans on Thursday have been cancelled unfortunately but I have some beauty salon vouchers that I’m hoping to use if they have any spaces for then 💆🏼‍♀️💅🏼 If not I’ll see if any of my friends fancy meeting up for a coffee/lunch.

My direct debits are due to go out tomorrow, and it won’t leave me with a lot 😂 luckily I don’t really need anything for a while so it’s no big deal 😊

Right, I need to wash my face etc and then get into bed 😴
  • A new month and the new balances are:

    Mortgage: £81,657.08
    Family Loan: £6,000.00
    Savings: £2,500.00

Let’s hope that this week brings good news - a sold flat and approved part-time hours would be wonderful! 😌 And 2 happy girlies settled in school 🙏🏼
  • I might not hear if my part-time request has been approved for 3 months! That’s the law & I think it’s a bit ridiculous, but there we go. The kids’ dad is still on furlough except Wednesdays, so it’s not a massive problem at the moment as he can take them to school 4 days a week and pick them up, but it might be a bigger problem in October & November. We will just have to play it by ear.

I heard some sad news yesterday - someone who I used to work with passed away over the weekend. He was honestly the nicest, kindest man in the world & he was always happy, even when the company we worked for was struggling & they had to make redundancies, put staff on short-time working etc. He never complained. It’s such a shame. And he was only 51 😥😥

I worked about 14 hours yesterday as work is manic. And I’ve been working since 6:30am today 😖 I’m meant to be off tomorrow and Friday but I’m contemplating reducing my day off tomorrow to a half day so that I can do the school run but do work in between. I don’t have any plans so it makes sense but I’ll think about it.

Sorry to hear about your colleague PB, that is very sad. xx
I still have my fingers crossed for you with regards to the estate agents too. I hope you hear some good news soon. xx

    Remaining 10% OP allowance 2025: £1327.55
  • I have some pretty big news. After a few days of talking to my parents & OH, I have decided to leave my job. I have not been happy there pretty much since I started, and after initially telling me they might take 3 months to consider my part-time request, they then told me it could take 6 months! They also denied my annual leave request during October half-term. So I took back control, and sent my manager my letter of resignation yesterday. I’m giving them 5 weeks notice which is more that I’m required to give, but I thought I’d be nice & help them out a bit.

What does this mean financially I hear you ask! Well, I have my online business, which I plan on growing, plus child benefit & tax credits. And my savings should I need to dip into them. I’m lucky that my outgoings are very low, so although this is a risk, it’s not a big risk. The thought of being able to do the school run every day and spending more tine with the children makes me want to cry tears of joy!

That’s the big update. Another update is someone viewed my flat for the 2nd time on Thursday & I'm yet to get feedback from them. A second viewing is positive but not getting feedback 48 hours later isn’t! I’m hoping I can bring you good news there soon... that would really be incredible!
  • Wow... it’s been a minute! Sorry for being MIA 😂 I haven’t had time to update as life has been SO BUSY AND HECTIC! My mum’s 60th birthday was this weekend which took over most of my brain space as I had plenty planned for her, and work has been as busy as ever. My replacement started on Monday, and another replacement is starting next week. It’s great that they’re replacing me with 2 people but equally I’m annoyed that they never recruited a 2nd person before I handed in my notice. Sure, they got temporary people in to help me, but I have said for the last year that we needed 2 permanent full-timers at a minimum. Oh well, only another 3 weeks to go!

Today I’m working from home which means I get to do the school run 😃 I love taking the girls to school. It beats dropping them off & collecting them from various childcare providers!

Tomorrow is pay day and it’s my first full-time wage since February! And my last 😂 I have plenty of accrued holiday that I’ll be paid for in October which may match my full-time wage though.

The flat is still unsold. It’s been on the market for 4 months now, and it’s been 4 weeks since I reduced the price. So I’m thinking of what I need to do next. Obviously it’s to reduce it again but I’m not sure how much by. I really just want it gone now, me & OH are ready to live together so if a buyer could come forward then that would be great 😌

HMRC has been updated with my job/income situation and predictions for this tax year so I’m not sure what my tax credits will change to. I hate the limbo! I just want to know the amount so I can budget accordingly 😂 I’ve already done a budget for the current figure and I am ok financially until 10th January. After that it’s all heavily relying on my self-employed income and savings (should I need to dip into them). That’s with Christmas budgeted for too so not to bad really!

Right, I must crack on as I need to leave the house in an hour 😁
  • Another weekend gone! Why do they always go so quick 😭 I took the girls shopping yesterday. It was so funny watching how they both treated their money (they had some birthday money left over, plus my mum usually gives them money every now & then). DD1 is definitely the more sensible one. She likes having money & gets nervous about spending it. DD2 however blew all hers on the first things she saw 😬 she’s got a lot to learn! 😂

I stayed at OH’s last night & spent most of the day today with him & his family for a birthday which was nice.

Tax credits has been updated and I’m getting an extra £130 a month which will definitely help 😊 I’m hoping I won’t need to claim for long though! 🤞🏼
