Good that you are exploring your options and exercising your brain.

    Thanks SH

I've organised everything aside from some practice bits. I even have a case with the facial items in; great size case and I've ordered 2 more for brows/lash treatments and waxing.
    - I've ordered a face cloth warmer / steamer.

My course manual has been put in the folder and I've read through it, I'll read it a few more times over this week.
    - My other folders haven't arrived yet and I've had to put all my manuals into a plastic wallet until they do.

Don't think I said but I purchased a label maker and loads of spare tapes. Tested it today and it's perfect. I'll be dating gels as they're opened so I know when to dispose of if it's not all used.

I spent several hours looking for the other courses and discussed yesterday's rent a space chat with TomBo. Got a bit miffed as I'd be self employed but restricted to one thing which isn't what I want otherwise I wouldn't have spent time getting the training / qualifications I have and booking the others.

Didn't slot any practice in, but did mentally go over everything and have a few more design ideas. I really want to get my insurance and get going, but I know it's best to wait until I've done these last 3 courses.

It is all coming together and I'm slipping bits onto social media 🤭

It sounds like you need to check out other possible rent a chair type options. Sure you're on it.

Well done on the label maker. I'm considering dating some of my art supplies as I buy them as they too deteriorate with age and it may help me avoid getting sucked into having too much in future and that decision paralysis of whether it is okay to bin or not.

  • Can understand you being a bit miffed. Is there any point in being restricted & having to do mobile for everything else?

  • Thanks SH and Skinty

Well, I've gone from miffed to trying not to laugh following a further chat with bestie; I am qualified in that one system she wants 😕 Anyhow, her loss as we previously discussed her buying the property and me saying I've money in the bank!
    - just made me even more determined to get my book opened and appointments organised 🤭

I've gone onto my potential insurers site, copied all their standard treatments covered and made a list of all the ones I want to offer. I'm noting if I've got the qualification, have it planned or need to do it.
    - I'll have to sort my insurance as I want to open my diary and have sent invites to book to my models 😄

I ordered all products for a couple of the courses. There will be sufficient amounts left for model practice and new clients. Should arrive tomorrow.
    - excitingly, I'm the demo model for the course this week; I was asked a couple of hours before I did my brows phew.

    Things to do this week:
    - buy a cheap mobile this week and SIM
    - set up a business email ✓
    - buy insurance
    - work out price list
    - set up social media pages
    - advertise

    It totally is SH!

I'm still looking into phones / SIMs. I can get a smartphone for about £60 as clients may send photos if they chip a nail, have a problem with one etc and I need to assess it.
    - I'm so used to having a big name for my actual plans that it's a struggle to get my head round the SIM co's and how they can do everything so cheap.

Input appreciated ladies and gents 😊

TomBo suggested advertising at work as we have a community forum. I rejected that idea as my dept would probably use it against me with my health. I could get round that by picking a different business name 😕

A lot of my deliveries arrived today. I'm the proud owner of a face steamer / towel warmer, all products / tools for my three remaining courses and items for me to practice lashes on, plus facial and other spares. No concerns about running out of anything.

I'm conflicted with the whole disposable side of this industry and have a mix of dispose and reuse. I'll chat with my trainer tomorrow and also see if she has a room I could rent.
    - I'll confess, big long-term plans involve a cute little salon. Like a tiny lounge-size shop, squeezed between normal sized buildings 🤭 convert a garage or put a summerhouse in the garden if we move.

I've packed my kit for the morning and looking forward to being the demo model!

    Plans for this long weekend:
    - everything left on my previous to do list
    - combine nail trolleys into one and a case
    - put wax kit into the, hopefully, empty small trolley
    - check all kits to ensure they're stocked properly
    - pop to the trade place and get hair colour
    - pamper
    - practice
    - check 2nd home
    - rest

  • I have a second hand iphone (bought off a friend years ago for £20)
with a gi££ ga££ sim-only £10, which uses VM 02 with no contract. There are lots of sim only cheap deals I suppose it depends how good the phone service of the actual supplier is in your area

I think I would be wary of advertising at work. I can just imagine you in a little cosy salon ☺️

    Have a lovely long weekend

Thank you Skinty, I couldn't remember who you were with.

Due to the weather I had to boost start my car and didn't have time to grab breakfast on my way to training.

We practiced on each other. I just need to do one on my own and then I'll pass, same as the other girls. I also asked the girl who did mine to let me know when she passes as I'd like to pay and have her do them again when they need doing.
    - I text tog friend and posted on s-media to bulk ask my friends and will see if anyone steps forward. I've also asked TomBo.

Trainer had a chat with me afterwards, I explained the chat with salon bestie and she's also of the opinion I should find somewhere else. She was so pleased to know I am looking for a room to work from 🤭

The next course is waxing and we'll practice on each other during the training, no post training practice to pass is required.

My to do list hasn't shrunk as I had to boost start my car again after the course. It's down to -5 at the moment overnight and in spring I'll replace my battery.
