Other Academy has contacted me again, they do one of the systems I'm looking for and combine it with nail art. They've not said a price however it's a couple of months away and I've time to save.
My insurance is up and running ☺️
This morning I purchased a new phone outright (£140) and a £10pm 2 year SIM only contract.
- All helps with points towards Christmas vouchers.
Got treatment record cards and appointment cards this afternoon. I'll look into business cards next week.
Made nearly £20 in expenses, I'll make an O/P with it.
Remaining to do list for this week:
- work out price list (Thur)
- combine both nail trolleys and a case
- put wax kit into small trolley (Thur)
- check kits to ensure they're stocked properly
- check 2nd home (Fri)
- colour my hair (Fri)
- attend training course (Sun)
- add training manuals to folders (Thur)
- client visits (Fri and Sat)Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -

Thank you Skinty, FP and SH
Hopefully courses will settle in a few months after I've done all the important ones, then I'll have an occasional course for adding to / expanding skills.
My diary is full this week and my first client feels like it will be a regular thing as local. I'll slowly increase bookings as I don't want to overdo it; winter isn't great for me health-wise.
I already have a 5h booking for next month! Incl nail extensions and art. I have the overall theme and will sketch ideas and do some practice nails.
- This one could potentially generate a lot of business.
The new academy have sent a price for the other nail system, £450 + £60 for nail art. I can't save that in time as it's Apr and I'm prioritising a threading course. Also need to bring the CC bill down 🙈
My price list is nearly prepared for everything I'm qualifying in. I've checked local and the furthest distance I'd travel, just want to compare to middle locations.
I'll be at 2nd home first thing tomorrow. Home and empty small trolley, refilling with wax kit etc. C1 visit. Then chill at home for the remainder of the day.

Thank you Skinty, I appreciate your message x
I totally looked the part as I wore "full salon" gear.
Client visit went well. We spent a lot of time catching up and I only did a mani with clear normal varnish. Booked in again next week for a facial, gel nails and possibly brows. Volunteered to model for anything I want to practice and her friends are already interested 😊
It was a good learning curve and great for breaking myself in. Taking history, discussing skin and nail condition, what she is looking to achieve and the processes I'll take to help her.
Remaining to do list for the weekend / next week- work out price list (Sat morning)- combine both nail equipment (week)- put wax kit into small trolley ✓- check kits, ensure they're stocked properly (week)- check 2nd home ✓- colour my hair (Sat morning)- attend wax training course (Sun)- add training manuals to folders (week)- client visit (Sat)

Great that she's happy to be a model for your courses too. What a find - and hopefully she feels the same way about you if she offered.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

(all beauty business in this post, skip to the next one for general updates)
Thank you Skinty and SH
C1 really wants me to succeed which is why she offered to be a physical person to model (practice and gain full confidence). She was thrilled with her nails, couldn't stop looking at them and can't wait to have the full gel works next week!
C1 and C2 are wives of friends. C3 is tog mate.
I'll get C1's circle of friends on my books as there's interest already.
C2 I'll combine with A. Potentially circlea from C2 / hubby friends wives, maybe a church wife circle from A&U.
C3 is taking some pro photos for my site.
I've provided my details to someone in a local shop I natter with and she'll be in touch about March for a pamper; long holiday prior to that hence delay.
I do feel there's a gap in the 'older' client market. I understand agility and comfort can be difficult during treatments due to my own disabilities. Being mobile, offering home visits and being gentle while doing the beauty sets me apart, with the added advantage of not saying to someone what they want is old or dated nowadays!
The disadvantage is potentially the amount of health conditions / meds a client comes with and having to adapt, offer something else or decline a treatment. I'll have to be on the ball and keep updating that knowledge.
My own experience of having hands and fingers twisted when gel is applied, and the resulting pain, enabled me to adapt how I would do it. Simple things such as asking the client to turn, move certain fingers out the way so I can access a particular nail and checking there's no discomfort makes a vast difference to their overall pamper.
This month I'm doing FOC model, although C1 and C3 have both asked how much to pay me and I know A will try and foist money on me when she's booked in. MIL will also be FOC and could be a future lead generator when I'm able to reduce day job hours as I could go up every 2 weeks.
- C1 will be free as she'll generate chargeable leads.
- C3 we'll swap trades as payment to each other.
--- both provide lunch 🤭
I'm honestly hoping word of mouth and my own nails are the main advertising routes.
One of the training places I'm following on social media had a flash sale yesterday. Online workshops at £5 each or a bundle of 4 for £15. I snapped up the bundle as there just happened to be 4 I've been looking at doing 😊
- I'll get those completed over the new few months.
I'll message C2 in a bit to check on their weather as the wind is picking up here.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2
