Got my case sorted out and spotted a few gels I didn't pack away, I've totally swayed towards this company seeing the two 'side-by-side' and will not be replenishing M when things run out.
Spent 2 hours last night attempting to remove what my salon bestie put on my nails. An early start this morning was another 2h and I'm not convinced it's all off; lived experience of why brands should not be mixed and matched, let alone the risks of doing so.
- I've smothered my hands / nails in Av0n dry 0il and will scrub it off in a mo when I get ready.
Filled TomBo in on the booked courses. Started listing the ones I want to book and he said "basically, you'll be covering a lot and able to offer a lot" 😀 He's impressed I've got everything ready for the courses / pampers I want to do and is dropping / collecting me on my Sunday course; he'll do the shopping, tip run and whatever else while I'm qualifying.
My 'tog bestie is happy to model / be my practice for all the courses I'm doing and plan to do!
Hopefully I'll be buying insurance when I get home later and can open my diary 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
Need a model for Sunday, no one is available; the course never said as I wouldn't have booked it yet without having someone lined up.
Aside from that, what a great day!
Excuse the pun but nailed manicures and gels so we did the next course and I nailed that even though I've not had a go at home; I'll spend the rest of this month practicing as I want my confidence to be as high as it is for gels. Once I've a bit of spare money I'll book in for her remaining two courses.
TomBo told me to buy frames and hang the certificates up 😲
I really needed today after last year.

Thank you Skinty, if we lived closer I'm sure we would have already had coffee and cake several times by now x
It's all confidence and approaching things logically, being a long term user of normal polish helps! We gossiped like we'd known each other years, which made for a very relaxed session. I'd book one2one courses with her just for the individual attention and not needing to wait for others, or have them wait for me.
I'll be doing a full set of my designs on my nails tomorrow, practicing the 2nd course on falsies and doing a pedicure on me to gain more cuticle experience as today was also a first in that area.
- trainer was impressed with my nail art too.
In 2 weeks I'll practice in-fills on my finger nails and there should be more cuticle practice on fingers and toes. I'll also slip in nail shapes daily with gel and builder practice non-working days / weekends.
I'm aiming to go 'live' next payday as I'll get a lot of practice in over the next 4 weeks. If I don't quite feel ready I'll earmark the insurance money and reassess weekly.
It will probably be a few months before I'm doing anything major at 2nd home due to the weather. However, I'll pop along and ensure everything is ok.

Thank you SH
I knew we'd get on ok based on our email exchanges however I never thought we'd hit it off as well as we did and I was totally relaxed from the start. Although I can attend other training companies and pay less for the same qualifications, for the 'bond' we have it's worth paying that bit more.
As I suspected, I hadn't removed all the polish from my salon bestie. Trainer used an e-file, I was soaking my nails, they were scraped, resoaked and scraped again a few times. Took over an hour and eventually it was all off; over 5h between us. Trainer delicately asked me if I'd been to a dodgy nail place! Looking at my nails today, I'm seeing the difference with an experienced nail tech compared to someone who occasionally does nails.
- don't get me wrong, salon bestie's strengths are lashes, hair cuts / styles, normal or all over colours.
The forum I'm reading through had someone raise an interesting question, which led me to look into the systems I have. What I thought was a system in its own right is actually classed as the same as the 2nd course I passed and so I'll be practicing with that too.
I'm still walking on clouds after yesterday. Asked SIL if she'd be able to model for tomorrow and explained what I've been up to and what my plans are. She's enquired after some services for MIL as a treat.
- family and 'tog mate I'll do all my services for free as that will generate business. Friends will have special offer rates. Everyone else will be normal prices and there'll be special offers throughout the year.
I'd better get organising and packing away kit, practicing and doing my nail art as I'll be a walking advert for the next 2 weeks 🤭

Thank you Skinty
Sadly SIL isn't available, nor is someone TomBo asked. I've told the company and they'll let me double up with someone else. I've gone through all their courses I'm interested in, none say model required and I know they are needed for 'live' practice.
I've organised all my wax, lash and tint gear, it's all tucked safely away.
All glitters are bottled, spares organised and tucked away, as is the rest of my nail art.
Ran out of steam, quickly tucked everything else back under my desk and went for a rest; badly broken and kept getting woken up as TomBo was like a yo-yo.
I'll try to do my nails when I get up in the morning.

I did the gel and art on my other hand at 7am today.
Attended training and couldn't fault the tutor or academy. Covered a lot, the demo was spot on and I confidently got on when it was our turn with the models (they got me one); I had a contented smile all the way through. We ran like clockwork, each stage was bang on with timing and it seems to be compatible with my health!
I passed with flying colours 🎉
I'm booked on three more courses with them, two this month (full waxing and brows with tinting) next month is lash lift; two were half price. That will leave lash extensions and threading qualifications, with a couple of nail workshops.
Had good chats throughout the day and they said I should rent space within a salon for ease of my health. Working an evening and one full day wouldn't be an issue as I could build up more hours when I reduce my day job.
I'm having fun, it's relaxing and satisfying my creative side while mentally stimulating 😊
