  • Uncovered shady tricks going on which explains a couple of comments made this week, it will all get added to my email! Don't worry I am keeping records. No news on the job app yet.

We're going out tomorrow, TomBo is taking me for lunch too as my cake day wasn't pleasant. He got me a bin, slipper socks and gave me one of the nail books I purchased; read it the same evening and while it's basic info I've now got a better idea of terminology 🤭 really pleased with my gifts ☺️

I'll also make a start on organising my tech boxes, spares and get a few days of practice in.  It's here I'll admit to buying more stock, acknowledging it's partly 'reactive' due to what's going on, wanting to ensure I have enough of a range to offer and a couple of treats for me.

I've got my feet up, empty belly and having a kebab for tea 😃

Glad you are keeping a diary.

Nice to have the nail art to take your mind off things. I'm another that has a tendency to shop when stressed.

  • Thank you SH

I'm grateful it's 'useful' things and not random, get tucked away and forgotten about til donated to a CS!

Had a nap this morning, both times I dropped off into anxiety dreams shouting/ screaming to TomBo to help me, then I actually woke up as the other bit was in my dreams.

I watched a few nail art videos, tried one I really liked the look of, did pre-made designs on 2 nails and an ombre effect on a 4th nail (all falsies). I feel so much more has been learnt and say to myself "nothing to it aside from confidence, you got this"
    - just need to suss out the 'tog side.
    - I've so many ideas running through my head 🤗

TomBo asked if I need a folding table for doing the nail practice, I declined as I'll be using my desk. While we were in the car I popped up about using my tippy tray (lap tray) and sitting in my arm chair, don't know why I didn't think of it before.

Signed my new lease on 2nd home, by the time we got to McD I was feeling sick and food helped, til we headed off again.

We grabbed a load of fly tipped slate and will grab the rest soon. I'll be smashing and laying it on the communal path by our garden, if there's any left I'll do the same for the neighbour whose garden we're making over.

Tried having a nap when we got in, but instead ended up with a migraine 😔 meds and TomBo made it go away.

We're seeing A&U tomorrow. First thing I'll be wrapping their gifts and putting art on my other (writing hand) nails, while doing a few tweaks to the hand I did last weekend.

  • Am sorry to hear about your anxiety dreams MF 😢 You do not deserve this awful treatment at work!

Has it been a year on 2nd home already 😁 Have a lovely visit with A&U. So glad tombo is so lovely and supportive

  • Thank you Skinty

It is absolutely appalling behaviour I'm subjected to.

Not a year as leases run NY - end Dec.  I'll pop to have a look tomorrow, make sure everything is ok and feed the birdies. I can't do much as we're having frosts and very little sun to warm the soil.

Did my nails when I got up, different design on each nail, some with the transfers my salon bestie really struggled with, ombre effect, hand done designs and even added a jewel to one of them!
    - toes are still perfect.

Had a lovely time with A&U. A spotted my nails straight away, passed huge compliments and asked me to do hers!  Showed a photo of the falsies I did last week, told her about my courses (absolutely ecstatic for me), said she'd be paying straight off and even joked about me going back home for my kit 🤭
    - when leaving this evening I asked her to think about what colour(s) she wants and any designs; she's smitten with a stretched / elongated S I've perfected.

My foam arrived this morning and I'll be organising my tech boxes tomorrow, wish me luck as I've loads and I'll be decanting glitter into small tubes.

I never expected 2023 to be like this - 2nd home, new friends, our wedding and having a comfortable amount in the bank.

2024 sees me with a plan to clear the mortgage within a few years from my day job income, taking courses, saving for others and starting up as self-emp.

Really does go to show you never know what's round the corner 🤗

So lovely how happy you are with how this year has gone despite work although even that is helping you achieve your long term goals.

I'm trying not to think of the day job til I'm paid for that time and focusing on what the money allows me to achieve.

I over purchased foam. So far I've not used one full sheet of it. However, my builder and colour gels are safely organised in the case, my spares ready to be added to my spares box. Some polishes are too tall and I've a few ideas to get those in the case.

Started organising my main case. It holds my PPE, liquids, cleaning products, nail art items, tools etc.

I began splitting and containing small / smaller flower art and small / tiny / tinier beads. Did two bags and thought I'd do the third bag tomorrow. I'll decant the glitters when my final order arrives this week.

I've only got one box to finish going through and that should be my cases organised, spares logged and tucked away, paper records done and a bag ready for my first course 🤗

We had kebab for tea 🤭

  • Exciting times 😁 I am loving hearing about your plans.

Will you need to get public liability insurance and car business insurance? My Dsis does craft fairs and has both, didn’t cost much & as a “hobby” under £1000 a year she doesn’t have to register for tax

  • Thanks Skinty

I already have business use on my car due to my day job.

PLI I'll get from an awarding body ie the 'exam' board who issues my beauty qualifications and it's about £85py. Incl in that cover is everything I'll be qualifying in over 2024 so i dont have to keep contacting them to add treatments and reprice my insurance.

As you know I'll be starting with nails.
I'll then qualify into brow threading, tinting and lash tinting; locked my CC away so I don't book it now!
    Followed by lash lifts.
After that it will be facials.
    Then waxing, body and face.

I'm currently looking into lash extensions and will buy a practice face and lashes next month. I'll add that course to my list.

My training will be across a couple of academies as my current one doesn't offer everything I want to do. I've also made enquiries with my local college to see if they're running any short courses next year; Edin are and I'm weighing up attending against travel time and energy.
    - I'm mindful some things I've done myself for years, others I've done for a few years and some things I've never done and would prefer to have longer training or get practising at home.

Considering make up, but would have to learn hair styling/ pin up etc as it would be fantastic to offer services for small / intimate weddings. An overall bridal package but pocket friendly!

I'm currently working on bridal nail examples, one is what I'd planned for mine, I have another 'set' done and ideas for more in 'traditional' and 'bolder' colours / concepts. I try to do one with every practice.

I've ordered a diary and will open for model bookings soon. I'm contemplating speaking with beauty bestie to see if she'd rent me space, but I would be in direct competition with her 😕

I also have lined up webinars for small businesses and will work through those too.

In other exciting news, I was watching make up half trolley's, had an offer sent to me and it's on its way. All my cases cost £46, a lot less than buying a brand new full trolley and they'll fit nicely on my 'new' half trolley for ease of visits 😁

I'll have to use my pamper account as a joint pamper / qualify one.

From a little acorn I've developed big ideas 🤗
