  • Skinty,

The more I read of your adventures and lifestyle shift, the more I want freedom sooner than pension age!

Shopper was a great guy, happily discussed the booster, his research findings and it was a relief. We'll keep our booster in the glovebox.

The side hustle is interesting. Oddly enough when planning to move abroad it's what I was going to be doing 😊

I've ordered nearly everything I need for the hustle, just a couple of bits to snap up when I'm ready to 'go live', plus my qualification courses and insurance; which does come included with some of the courses / membership.

I have spent about £200 getting everything so far, that includes what I need for practicing with. The other bits are max £100 and it's the official courses on top of that.
    - I already have about 35 years experience of the basics, just upping my game and learning with more specialised/ intricate designs.

Purchased a cat toy yesterday, rattling ball of wool. Cat is confused and not yet playing with it.

Nearly finished my book, it's bedtime reading.

  • Thank you SH

I've ordered the remaining bits as it turns out a trusted company I use for other things also has some of the main supplies I need for my hustle. I also came across a trusted place which is having a closing down sale and snapped up sufficient supplies to keep me going for several years.

I have been watching a ton of videos, learning the theory, how to do things and getting my own artistic ideas forming. I've found a few places to do the respective courses; depending on available money next month I'll get the first one I need booked and underway.

I ordered books and handed them to TomBo to wrap and give me cake day.

Only thing left to do is spreadsheet all my purchases, the prices and figure what my charges will be; I've looked at other businesses for comparison, including UK wide and other countries. I would rather have a pricing structure instead of adding X is an extra £? or Y is an extra £?

Scary, exciting and nothing to lose, with a lot to gain.

As for my 'career', I've renewed my regulation membership, always handy to have and opens up doors, returning to it is out of the question as I can't commute to the cities where the roles and prospects would be.

My current job is becoming more of a farce each day, thankfully a vacancy popped and I'll be applying for that this weekend; same money, couple of miles from home, similar work but totally different department.

Got my lash and nail apt first thing Friday 😊

    Thank you Skinty

My sale items and other purchases arrived today, I'm still waiting on the key item so I can get practising. It was stuck as waiting to be collected from the drop off point for a week and I ordered a different one from somewhere else which was in the postal system in a couple of hours........ they're both on the way to me now and due early next week 🤭

I've told my photo mate, she instantly offered to be a model and I accepted with gratitude, but said I wanted a bit of practice before I'll pop and take her up on it.

Had my lash and nail apt this morning, 3 weeks is my full pamper ready for the holidays.

It's been freezing all day and I only nipped into a couple of shops on the way back. Had an afternoon nap and we had leftover chilli on nachos for tea.

Tomorrow will probably be present wrapping day, organising my supplies into practice and pro boxes, doing a couple of free courses and putting winter lights up 😊

  • Enjoying having my long weekends back, even though snow stopped play.

I've wrapped about ¹/3 of the gifts, got a biscuit for every 3 I did 🤭 I'll do some more throughout the week.

Today I had a tidy up, packed my career books and TomBo has put them out the way until I donate them.

I organised my tech box. Will reorganise parts when the remaining items arrive. I've sent a few more enquiries off about courses, no replies from the ones I did before.

I also organised my practice tech box and gave myself a pedicure and have beautiful red nails with sparkly flowers on my big toes. Hardest part was getting the UV lamp timing right for each coat, but I sussed that by the end.
    - I'll do some practice in the week using painting false nails, some nail art and other ideas I've got.

0mG I'm now booked on 2 physical courses next month, as one training academy emailed pretty quick when I submitted an enquiry, which happen to fall on my no work days!

I'll be a qualified nail tech next month 🤭😁🤭

  • Thank you Skinty!  It totally is exciting 🤭

I might have a couple of hours 1-2-1 with the tutor for the art side, proper painted by hand, fine detailing etc.

I'm also saving for a 3rd course as that's more specialised (£500). However, I've so many false nails I can practice with over the remainder of the year in readiness for the first course, then practice ready for the second course. After that practice ready for the unbooked third course.

My toe nail varnish has stayed on, not chipped or anything yet. If I'm more agile the weekend I'll remove and do again. Subject to how my practice goes in the week, I may add to what my pamper girl did and have the end result of what I wanted.

My overall plan is (try to) stick in this job due to short work week and potentially get another contract extension, throwing all money possible to clear the mortgage as I mentioned in a recent post.
While that is going on grab experience of nail art and slowly build up a client base, and / or get some salon hours.
When mortgage free save up, drop hours and increase time for nail art.

With 2nd home and potential income from nail art, I could have the modern good life.

I know what my pay is this month and have worked out my budget, just need to make a small tweak as I need a couple of things for my training.

What a way to bring the year to an end and know the next one opens with such a great start 🎉

Been in bed most of the day and TomBo found some meds. Wonder if I mention my glasses have vanished he will find those too ☺️

I haven't been able to look and tweak my budget yet, hopefully tomorrow.

I've received both course manuals. Local library is 20p per page to print, double sided potentially brings the cost down to £5.70.  I have obtained a practice book, laminating is £1 each but I've some spare acrylic sheet at 2nd home which I could place over shapes and designs, do the practice and clean it off again 🤭
    - it's on my Thursday to do list as is buying the few bits I need for the courses and paying the remaining fees.

We had carrot and spinach soup for tea. I'm resting while watching TV.

Interesting future side hustle. Sounds good. I had immediate images of Felicity and Tom covered in mud though... especially when they got that pig!
