  • Thanks LW2G, can't beat a good spreadsheet!

We fell asleep after the soup, I've had peanuts for pudding.

Glad you got some more rest. I think with the money - treat yourself if you can - I think it is too easy to delay living and enjoying yourself...

  • Thanks SH

I'm trying to think of something tangible as was belated cake day money from my reconnected family and some is Christmas money from TomBo's family.

I'll probably buy jewellery otherwise it will get spent towards my next trip, which isn't a nice use of it.

  • Thanks SW, hope you feel better soon.

I do my best with O/Ps and try to stretch money far and wide.

TomBo is working all day today and tomorrow.

I've had a lie in and got up just before 9, been chilling on the sofa and I've just put a film on.

  • TomBo asked me to drive him to work tomorrow and feed SILs furballs on my way back. I might pop in to the antique shop after that. It's up to me if I want to collect him in the evening, but I'll have to feed the furballs again so may as well get him.

CF payment comes out tomorrow and I can get my year end financial round up posted.

We had pheasant soup for tea as TomBo didn't have the energy to make a proper meal from the roasted one. It's an ok bird, but I wouldn't go out my way to buy it.

  • 2021 year end financial update.

    Assets:
    Savings £5,350
    Car everything £231
    Float £50
    Pensions £17,500
    Flat over 23% equity
    Car over 50% is mine

    Debts:
    Mortgage £60,000
    Car £2,333
    CC £1,100

    Plans for 2022:

CC paid by end of February
Car paid by end of June
    Mortgage O/P £1650
    Save £2,250
    Car everything £1,200
    SIPP £900
    Trip costs £1,000

I'm hoping to knock £5k off the mortgage with O/Ps and monthly contractual payments and will do the same as this year, keep closely tracking it during the last quarter.

The SIPP doesn't look much, but I'm paying into my work pension too. I've worked it out that I only have to add £65pm to potentially reach £1k per month at SPA.

My plans don't look too ambitious for 2022, due to buying my car and the bereavement, it's swallowed up my usual spare money; I will be incurring trip costs as I try to wrap everything up.

Hopefully I'll be back on my financial track by the tail end of the year.

Well done on your plans. You've achieved loads from not a huge income - so proportionally you are doing amazingly well.

Hope you manage to find a positive use for your birthday money that brings you joy.

  • Thanks SH, I forgot to acknowledge I've achieved a lot on a little, it does surprise me how I make every penny work for me. While it would have been nice to have a bit more saved, provided everything is higher than the previous year end I'm happy 😊

I popped to the antique shop, saw a few things but nothing I thought was good use of the money or where to put it in the flat without making it cluttered. Instead I added a few things to my watch list on 3bay and was offered a discount on one; got a nice pair of earrings coming for £2.79, leaves me just over £47 to spend.

On the way to get TomBo I stopped off at T, picked up some reduced price Christmas things, reduced priced veg, some pop, bread etc and spent under £6.
