  • Thanks SW, Skinty and SH

Unfortunately, I have to pay the deposit and the bank can't do anything without the certificate; it's a horrible loop to be stuck in.

I'm trying to work out whether to pay it on my CC, then spread the payment to bring my monthly costs down until it's eventually paid off when I'm refunded, or empty my mortgage EF.

Due to the additional extra expected costs, I'm going to be saving from scratch again and have to hope I can save quicker than I need it for my own needs.

Financially, I am really scared, it won't take much more to make me sink.

There is a little positive news, new employer is granting me paid leave for the funeral next month.

Having Chinese chicken curry and rice for tea.

  • If it was me I would pay on the cc as you never know when you might need the emergency fund money. Also didn’t Tombo’s mum offer to help you out? I know you might not want to but if it’s going to otherwise sink you it’s worth swallowing your pride. You can always pay her back.

Saving the cash and using CC was for the reason you've said.
TomBo didn't even ask him mom to contribute towards the car, that's why I decided to pay it all myself and as quickly as I could. I also thought of MIL too, but that would be the life jacket.

Honestly that is what I think too. Now is the time to pamper yourself to help you get through this difficult time.

I doubt I'd get a 0% CC, looking at my CC it's under 7% PA, just over 0.05% pm when I do the instalment offers. Which is a lot less than the interest I would lose on my savings if I used them.

I'm swaying towards swimming, just to be 'free' and 'escape' for a few hours.

Swimming sounds good. It will be nice to escape, have some 'you' time.

I would keep some savings if you can especially as you are changing jobs.

  • Sad side:

    Funeral deposit paid.
Called gas, elec, water and another to cancel services. Only two left to do.
    Organised adverts for local papers*.

Lodged a complaint with G and E due to the way I was spoken and the total misinformation I was given.

Expecting a refund from G and E, which will cover advertising costs. I'm going to open up a separate account to use as a holding account until probate and distribution;  it's looking unlikely there will be anything left the way things are going.

Everything has gone on my CC as the new statement has just been produced and this lot won't be due until the new year.

*This totally broke me and I've cried a lot.
