Well done you on starting Christmas shopping. Brilliant news. Something to look forward to. I have nothing in my Christmas fund due to spending to see Steve and for new job. Light rain here too. Hopefully you can still have a bbq soon. Have a good day.Aiming for a minimal spend 20223

Thanks Skinty, SH and SWFor now we are working through TomBo's cake day chocolates, but I will buy some for us and another stolen! I'm hoping A1DI get the lebkuchen biscuits in soon!
Had a BBQ last night. The meat rubs were not that good and I've told TomBo to make it himself as we've got jars to store things.
We're doing some gardening in a bit. I'm going to weed, then sow kale and spinach.
- If I'm able to do another section afterwards it will be where the onions are going in.
- If I'm still able to carry on I will strip half the section where the garlic is going. Can't do all of it as my runners are in the other half.
Next year I'm scaling back on variation, only growing parsnips, turnips, carrots, spuds, onions, leeks, garlic, beets, kale and spinach.
Peas and runners I'll probably do in pots.
I might do squash but in bags / pots.
I'm aware I've probably not got the borrowed garden all next year. Just have to work everything out for that, but looking at early season root veg. It's hard as I don't have an end date to work towards and I could end up handing over a full plot of veg if the neighbour suddenly manages to get trades in and sells.
- of course I've the option of approaching the new owners of both flats and asking if I can take over the plots 😀
Over the next few weeks I'm hoping to buy garlic and onion sets, in readiness for sowing throughout October.
It's still my dream to do the modern good life.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Really well done on all your gardening this year. You inspired us all too! To me you are in the Good Life.Aiming for a minimal spend 20223

Glad the veg growing dream is alive and well. Sounds like you are still aiming for a lot of variety.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thank you SW and SHBelieve it or not I've cut it down by about a third as I'm not doing various salad, toms and some fruit.
There might be a slight change of plan with the remortgage plan. Even if I don't do it, the mortgage can get paid off within the same timeframe.
If I don't remortgage next year, the money saved covers about 15 months higher interest. I've not yet checked further into the capital to interest ratio.
While I would definitely end up paying more interest, not having the pressure of remortgaging might make it worthwhile 🤭
I've printed my CV off and worked out how to make some changes, just need to figure out the wording for this company.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -
Good luck with your cv. You are so proactive.Aiming for a minimal spend 20222

Thanks SWI nearly broke in front of someone today, had to look away and choke on the tears. Saved them for when I got home not long ago.
I have looked at refresher courses, CPD and qualifications for my former career. Also looked to see what what roles were about. It wouldn't take me long to get back into the swing of it and I can easily explain why I took time away and did other work. Plus I've always got agencies wanting my CV for the different roles they have. I've nothing to lose by trying, potentially a lot to gain by doing it!
It would also stop TomBo telling me to return to it 🙈 as he always asks me questions and sees I'm confidently answering, then he passes the info on. Why not get paid for it instead of doing it for free.
Payday in the morning and I'm having gammon for tea.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -
I like your plan. It does sound like you are under just as much pressure in a lower paid job as you would be in a higher paid one. In that scenario I know which I'd opt for. I've found this myself when I took a lower paid role - because I took my same standards and work ethic with me - I still felt pressured...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
