  • Well done MF. I hope you are having a good day.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Thanks SW

I've booked another block of long weekends.

Had my usual meeting with temp manager. Must have looked dreadful as concerns were raised about my health and how I will cope with certain aspects of my role; it's these parts I want to retain!

I pottered around the garden for about an hour. Did a bit of weeding, investigated my fruit and veg plants to see how they're progressing. I will do some more tomorrow and made the decision to remove the last of my tomato plants.

I'm not sure what else we have planned.

Had Chinese chicken curry and rice for tea, ice cream for pudding.

£144 in the bank, £2 is bank fee, 12 days until payday.

  • Well done for persevering.

  • Thanks SH, I'm determined as it fits with plans.

It feels like I've a jigsaw, trying to slot everything into its right location. Eventually the picture will be home, garden, work with the latter getting smaller as time goes on.

I have to pick my office shifts, which is awkward as my original role isn't back to pre-c times and I also want to slowly adjust to avoid health repercussions. I'm not able to cope doing a couple of days a month, let alone about 3 a week with most of that dedicated to the new parts of my role.
    - neither mind nor body are willing.

At some point this decade I will be in a position to have a 6 month sabbatical and work out the next plan 😃

  • It’s a shame that you are having to make yourself ill for work & other people are starting to notice but don’t seem willing to do anything about it. Can you can keep up the pace or do you need to do something now before another decade of ill health? Can you ask for reasonable adjustments maybe not returning to the office if it is not necessary ?

  • Thanks Skinty
It's all trial and error, nothing can be formalised during the experimental phase and the only reasonable adjustment that would work is removing most aspects of the entire role.

This company wasn't one I saw myself staying in until state retirement age. Based on my original role I set a 10 year limit as even that wasn't 100% desk based.

Knowing what I do regarding every aspect of my new role in its entirety, it's probably 10% desk based.

I'm aiming to be mortgage neutral in 5 years; half the mortgage paid off, the other half in the bank.

  • Thanks Sw and SH, nothing is forever and no doubt I will keep working plans out 😃

Spent a few hours in the garden, did weeding and trimmed excess squash flowers off; I couldn't get them all and it will be an ongoing task until harvesting.

TomBo started getting some of the beds ready for winter and got rid of the tomato plants.
    - I feel more relaxed now as they required a bit of faffing, unlike everything else I'm growing.

We picked over 4kg of spuds and once eaten can lift another lot.

Haven't done anything this afternoon except chill on the sofa.

We had first course homemade pizza earlier and having another in a bit; only frying pan size.
