It's stressful at the best of times but during this health crisis the tension will be magnified. I have a feeling the bank will be very helpful to you as you have access to your deposit and they won't want to lose it. Poor you this is v exasperating for you. Is there anything nice you can do to try to take your mind off it?

Try to stay calm. The worst hasn't happened yet. All you can do is take the next step which is to try and get your mortgage offer extended.

@savingwannabe there isn't, everything I would do to unwind was beach or forest related.

@savingholmes I'm trying to get it extended, but I won't know for 3 - 4 weeks. It would have helped if the lender updated their site so I wouldn't have thought everything was ok weeks ago.

Solicitor has emailed, due to my detailed email he thinks I would qualify to exchange and complete, subject to mortgage offer extension being granted.

I've also started working on a backup plan, which would take a couple of years, but means I could go in as a cash buyer of a small 1 bed flat requiring work, further away from where my employer is, but I would be mortgage free. Just need to get together another £20k, based on today's selling prices. Then look to save again and buy where I want to live.

    Saturday update:

No one can get their extension application pushed through above another, just have to wait my turn.

I may know next week about the extension, broker emailed me and confirmed the lender thanked for the payslips and probation reference from my manager.

At this stage I can't get my hopes up, so I've stopped planning for the flat in case it does fall through.

If I get the extension, my solicitor will get it all sorted out quickly.

I'm debating getting a part-time evening / weekend position, so it would fit round my working hours. So far I've looked at a few supermarkets but they are not recruiting in my localish area. I thought if I could get one evening and one weekend shift that would potentially be an extra £200 per month after deductions.

Also plotting my plan B, looking at the available very low cost properties in a reasonable area, how much I would need to go in as a cash buyer, how long it would realistically take to save on my wages etc. Starting to feel better knowing I've a backup plan, even if it does add another 2 years.

I can currently afford to cash buy a mobile home or with a bit more saving (6 months max) a flat in a very, very, very low cost area, however I had ruled the area out when I viewed the county I decided on. Properties are nice, the area / location isn't.

Potentially I can buy a flat in another county as a cash buyer, however the area is cheap for a reason and I had ruled that whole area / location out.

I need to feel safe where I live, be able to go to work without worrying about what I would be returning to etc.

Had roast chicken yesterday, which was good as I've wanted that for a while.

Today I had bacon, fried eggs and potato scone for lunch; I wanted bacon / fried eggs on toast but it was the best I could get hold of.

    Haven't decided on tea yet.
