Thanks DIA it was delicious 😊

Cat got me up at 4am for breakfast. She's enjoying the treats from PAH and I will pick some more up this week for her.

TomBo has emptied the last bits from old car.

I've done an insurance quote for new car and it's £175 and pennies, fully comp, legal / windscreen and courtesy car; it's about £50 cheaper than old car 😃
    - on road cost is coming down as the tax / insurance is saving me £175ish a year with the new car.

Must send my licence off next month.

    Having another sofa flop day.

Great news that you are saving so much with the new car. Are you putting the savings towards paying off the finance early ?

    Thanks Skinty
So far on paper it's £456ish a year cheaper, based on 12k miles of petrol, tax and insurance.
    - I still need to save for maintenance and don't want to break the habit of saving into my car pot.

MIL has not yet been told as we're waiting until the car is in our possession.

I have earmarked the monthly payment on my spreadsheet. I'm due an annual payrise, full details not yet confirmed. Once I know numbers next month I can work out my O/P schedule.

I don't think I've accounted for the interest when discussing the finance, although I do when I mention monthly payments.  £501.56 over 3yrs.
    - total payable £4615.56 over 36 months.

I've been messing with numbers and rewritten this post with so many different ideas about how to clear the finance and have loads of bits of paper.

I'm earmarking a regular saver (RS). It's got money in it and I can continue to save into it each month, while making the contractual payments (CP).

In 9 months time the RS matures giving me approximately £3250.

RS + CP - refund of interest = finance cleared.

I'm getting quicker with my planning, it's only taken 4 hours 🤭

It's based on my current salary and the payrise can go into savings, with the on paper savings difference between old and new car, to refund the current RS money over the next 9 months.

I do hope my ramblings make sense!

Dealership called. I'm collecting the car on Thursday and will use my TOIL to finish work earlier.

I've electronically signed all the paperwork and have a HP agreement for the finance.

I've spent ages trying to work out this free insurance and also attempted to get my insurer to match the quote they did online for me; they wanted £180 more than I've already paid!
    - got updated quotes and found a policy with £0 excess! Which I'm going to take up on Thursday.
    - it's £18 more than the quotes the other day, but worth it for zero excess and still cheaper than current car.

I am finding this (insurance) stressful as usually I scrap a car, but have access to another to find my replacement car, then start up a new policy.
I don't usually have to juggle the policies and scrap one while waiting for the replacement log book 😟
    - I've worked myself into a tizzy and my head hurts ☹️

It's brilliant planning and you have even organised when it will be paid off and the insurance too. You need to chill now that is more work that you have done on top of normal work and it is hard.

Moved money to the finance pot.

Had Thai chicken curry and rice for tea, ice cream for pudding.

    July Financial Round Up:

    Saved, Savings - £424.23
    Saved, Car Pot - £100

    Mortgage - £300 O/P, £61,268 outstanding

    New Car - £947.08 saved, £4615.56 outstanding

My monthly update will be slightly different until the new car is paid off. I'm also being careful with pocket money and treats for the remainder of this year to free up extra money.

Log book has just arrived, I can relax a little bit now. TomBo will be scrapping old car Friday.

Buying from the dealership is odd. Knowing if anything goes wrong with the new car they will (should) fix it, when I'm used to buying an old car and taking my chances 🤭
    - I just have to maintain a service schedule while the warranty is in place, therefore more than a look over and oil change 🙈

We've finally got a bit of drizzle and slight cool breeze, it will do the garden good.
