    D'uh, I didn't spot that! :D

I was just trying to picture the scenario. So, girl at work in her mid 20s, wife in her early to mid 50s.. he seems to have the whole range covered.

You don't yet have any intention of changing anything. You're concerned with the wrong things. You have control over your own actions and can choose not to ever do this again. But instead, you're still trying to absolve yourself of responsibility by believing you 'can't help yourself'.

    Your poor family!

If the 'girl' at work (wonder how old she is) has gone cold, maybe she at least has come to her senses. At any rate, the OP hasn't any choice - he may be still lusting after her but looks like nothing's going to be happening on either the g/f or wife front. Never mind sunshine - take a few cold baths.
  • Feel like a bloody teenager need to get a grip and make things right with my family thanks for all responses

You are thinking with your nether regions and are risking losing your wife, your child, your home and - least of all - this girl that you are infatuated with.
You forgot to put 'your job' in that list. I neither know nor care what their respective roles within the company are, but there's a real risk of her claiming sexual harassment since he has continued to text her, even though she has 'gone cold' (or sensible, in my book).

And in some companies, any sexual relationship with a subordinate can lead to dismissal.
    I wasn’t careful enough,
That's not carelessness, it's monumental stupidity.
it’s first time I’ve ever done something like this and I hope it will be the last
I hope you've deleted her number from your phone, agreed to go to marriage counselling with your wife (go on your own if she doesn't feel she needs to go), and started job hunting. Engage your brain, take up jogging or something similar, and PUT YOUR FAMILY FIRST!
