Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

Talk to the previous owners/tenants?
Does the HIP/EPC give any guide?0 -
I'm currently with Scottish Power, paying £59.50 on a combined dual fuel fixed price tarrif. After getting the MSE email today, I decided to look at switching again, going with Simply Switch for the £35 Amazon vouchers.
Using my consumption history, Simply Switch estimated a saving of ~£53 by switching to NPower. Following the link to switch, the Direct Debit part of the form estimated my monthly DD to be £63.84, which means I'll be about £50 worse off. What a con! Have I missed something?0 -
While I really do appreciate MSE providing the cashback offers (currently £15 via energyhelpline), do also look at cashback sites if you're a member already, or if you're interested.
I use topcashback and via its link to moneysupermarket I switched electricity supplier yesterday lunchtime. (No gas here so no dual fuel deals possible.) Already its tracked as £20.40 cashback (though I know it can take months to actually receive it, like all utility cashbacks I think). £££££ Result!
TCB also offer cashback if you switch via uswitch & switchwithwhich. http://www.topcashback.co.uk/RetailersByCatUtility_Services.htm
If you decide to join topcashback, you might as well do a friend a favour while you're at it. If you know someone who's a member, get them to refer you & they'll get a bonus.
Yuck, that makes it seem like I've an angle on this, but I haven't. I really did switch yesterday, & reading the updated MSE guide today I saw that this extra cashback aspect was missing.
£20.40(Just realised the 40p is a top-up from TCB so strictly speaking I "only" got £20 for the electricity switch.)

greasypalm put me on to a £70 cash back from Scotish Power (£35 each for gas and electricity) and looks to be saving me nearly £300 a year by moving from EON!

I'm presently on a duel fuel tariff with Scottish Power. I pay £58.00 per month. I have no breakdown of the charges ie gas & electricity. When using a comparison site I am asked for the seperate amount I pay for each utility. I obviously cannot give these figures.
If I just split the £58 and give the figure of £29 for each service will this be accurate for a comparison site? I am guessing not.

Hi
Im moving to new home. I want to find the cheapest energy suppliers and the comparison website they ask the about the current supplier. Do they mean current supplier at new home? if so how can i find it?
any one can help me?

Im struggling to find charges for gas & electric. Im not interested in what they can save me, i can work that out myself.
Id like to know what they charge per unit, not that they can save me £xxx a year.0 -

Dead Easy...use money supermarket.com and click on the tariff for each company. I also use HP Smart Web Printing (free download) so I can print out the tariffs and compare them along side each other !0 -
Hi!
I am with Eon and I have been on capped price since 2005. My fixed price for Gas and Electricity is coming to an end on 1st Oct 2009.
The price I am paying is...
Electricity:-
Night units
4.788 pence per kWh
Day units up to 900 kWhs per year
20.643 pence
Day units
11.151 pence per kWh
Gas:-
Normal units up to 4572 kWhs per year
3.81255 pence
Normal units
2.57355 pence per kWh
Can someone please point me in the right direction in finding a better deal to replace this one. Many Thanks for your help.

I have also just moved house but I have used my old figures to put into uswitch, the houses has there are the same number of rooms and adults in. Does this seem a resonable thing to do? Was expecting the same supply as we where using to come up but their really low on the table so glad I checked. Is it worth checking seperate gas and electric prices as well as Dual fuel?0
