Your electric figures are surprisingly high for a pre-rise cap?
I'm assuming you are quoting before the 5% VAT is added?
Cannot comment on the gas, as I don't have a connection.
I've added my bold figures from an EDF deal started 9 months ago.

    Good hunting,

    Harry.

    Hi!
I am with Eon and I have been on capped price since 2005. My fixed price for Gas and Electricity is coming to an end on 1st Oct 2009.
The price I am paying is...
    Electricity:-
    Night units
    5.34 4.788 pence per kWh

Day units up to 900 kWhs per year
    15.64 20.643 pence

    Day units
    9.03 11.151 pence per kWh

    Gas:-
Normal units up to 4572 kWhs per year
    3.81255 pence

    Normal units
    2.57355 pence per kWh

Can someone please point me in the right direction in finding a better deal to replace this one. Many Thanks for your help.

  • I tried to switch to EDF Online V5, only to find that it is not available to new or existing customer 'in area'. So, whilst we live in London and EDF includes the old London Electricity, the tarrif is not available to us!

This is quite appalling. Has anyone found a way of obtaining this tarrif?
  • I tried to register myself for the EDF energy tarrif as suggested in the recent mail but none of the cashback websites are able to do it...
Anybody knows why...or how to do this
    Thanks for replies in advance

Following the last email from Martin, I made the switch to EDF's online version 5 tarriff, which should save me approximately £112 a year for dual fuel. I found the best cashback offer was not through energyhelpline but through the cashback site "Top cashback" who should be paying me £60 for switching through them. In addition, I will also be collecting Nectar points. If everything goes well, I will be quids in! Thanks Martin.:money:

  • As EDF won't gve me Energy Online 5, I will probably stay with Scottish Power. They have a new product coming on 31st August for existing customers ending their fixed price tariff - Capped Price Energy September 2010.

I haven't examined the fine print yet, but has anyone been offered this? Does anyone have an informed opinion on 'capped' tariffs?

THANK YOU Martin & gang, for this wonderful site & weekly newsletter.

Yes, yet again, you have saved us some hard earnt cash! Swapped to EDF duel fuel today & saved £100, plus used Top Cash Back site & due another £60! Recommend this to all - at least check it out.

Thanks to MSE.com, we're keeping our heads above water in this stinky old recession. :T:cool::money::j:D
  • Hi
I just used moneysupermarket to switch to EDF energy as both this site and energyhelpline.com cited this as a better deal for me. I've just noticed that energyhelpline.com cited v5 whilst EDF cited v5.1. The prices look the same but I'm not sure if there might be something important I'm missing? Does anyone know if these are the same?
    Thanks
    Mel

Finally got round to switching energy suppliers, have never switched before. Did a few searches on a few comparison sites and EDF Energy Online Version 5 came top of them all. As I have never switched before the I could save 33% on what I have been paying. Went through Cashback Kings for their £60 cashback as well, here's hoping it goes through. Email states that it should take 6-8 weeks to complete the switch.
