    Hi all.
Recently there was something in the news about energy prices going dows...Does anyone know if There are any better deals for me to select.

    Please let me know.
    Thanks
  • Scot Power have just put me on Capped Price Energy 2010 ( can opt out till 17th Oct) Comparison sites suggest savings varying from £28 -£272 -£472 each based on an annual cost of £1280 by moving to Eon I am wary of such varying figures and would need to opt out of capped 2010 to avoid £50 exit charge first Eon exit just £30. The more I search the worse it gets.Have also phoned SP With bill and readings up to date today still have £241 credit with them (includes £113 today for next quarter) but they say cannot have refund. Would welcome advice please
I read the article advising against this deal but it does not say price CAN go down but NOT up which was the message on my email

Finally got round to switching energy suppliers, have never switched before. Did a few searches on a few comparison sites and EDF Energy Online Version 5 came top of them all. As I have never switched before the I could save 33% on what I have been paying. Went through Cashback Kings for their £60 cashback as well, here's hoping it goes through. Email states that it should take 6-8 weeks to complete the switch.

thats exactly my plan! going to get home from work tonight, clear my cookies and off i go! i take it we can't get cashback from any switching site for this? don't want to void my topcashback!

  • I want to switch but have accumulated a debit balance (I pay monthly by fixed direct debit). I assume I will be required to pay off the balance owing on transfer which is fine but will having a debit balance actually cause British Gas to refuse my request to transfer to a different supplier?
    thanks for help.

I have moved to NPower via moneysupermarket £30 cash back deal. The transfer started on 12 May 2009 & NPower have taken 2 months of direct debits (so it has gone through okay).

I am really annoyed, since I am still waiting for my cashback. I phoned Moneysupermarket last month (begining of Aug) & they said I should have received it by the end of the month. I phoned at the end of the month & they said it should be within the next 2\3 weeks. I can't get why it can't be paid.

Is this normal? How can I bypass the people on the phones, since I am sure they just keep fobbing me off?

    Thanks,

Yes, this is normal for nPower. nPower cashback is not dependable. Every site reports that they do not pay the cashback in a timely fashion (or even at all). You should never switch to nPower with the expectation of receiving the money. You are not likely to receive it until five or six months after the swtichover. At least.

Most other suppliers (except British Gas) pay within days of your first debit being charged.

    Hi trelore

I am sorry to hear about the problems you are having receiving your cash back.

All cash back incentives are from the comparison site you switch with, which in your case is moneysupermarket.

If you are still having problems it would be best to contact moneysupermarket directly.

    Best wishes,

    Sally at npower

  • I am and have been for a number of years using eon (powergen etc) economy 7 tarriff and have an economy 7 meter, something I thought was saving me money, however I now find out that unless you use 30% or more of your electricity at night economy 7 is more expensive than a standard tarriff.
I Am now looking to change from economy 7 and have been given 2 different stories, from my current provider Eon they will change my tarriff and just add the meter readings together, however EDF say this is against the Law and cannot offer me their online 5 tarriff untill the meter is changed (this will cost £50 and is something I will probably do) who is correct?
