We had EDF call at our door offering special pre-increase prices because gas prices would be increasing by a prediced 30% around August time. Anyone else heard of new price increases?

Phone their office, quote what they said and ask for confirmation, I bet you get a different story.

Hey all, wonder if anyone could help me.

Due to the really helpful article I used the compare site moneysupermarket to compare my prices. I was paying £46 for both gas and electric using eon and i found out that i could save £150 a year by switching to npower.

It been roughly 2 months now and it has all gone through finally (although i am yet to recieve the £30 bonus from moneysupermarket) yet my direct debit confirm letter from npower states my monthy direct debit will be £46, exactly the same as it was with eon.

How can i be saving £150 a year if my direct debit stays the same?

It is up to you to read your meter and claim it back if the direct debited estimate gets significantly of line with your actual use. Npower gives a kick back at the end of the year, provided you stay with them for 12 months if I remember correctly, so check your contract.

[I've got a list of readings on the inside of the door of my meter cupboard]

I went through Moneysupermarket to change from Npower to EDF for Gas & Electric and the change took affect from 30/3/09.
I'm still waiting for my £30.00. Does anyone know how long this takes and is there anyone to contact to chase it up?

I emailed moneysupermarket because I have not yet received my cashback (its been 3 months since I joined the new company) and they said the money will be paid into my account at the end of July. I guess it takes so long so people aren't constantly swiching every month.

The price according to your consumption will be cheaper. Size of instalments you make are up to you and npower to negotiate. But note that £105 of the saving will be as an annual rebate after twelve months and will be forfeit if you do not stick it out for a year.

Thanks for the reply MrLeeLee. I've emailed Moneysupermarket and got a reply today saying that payment due at the end of July, so will wait and see.

I signed up through moneysupermarket May 2008 for npower, when I contacted them about the £30 cashback last month they told me the deal finished April 2008 how convenient, what a scam.

I did a dual fuel switch from BG to Atlantic with EnergyHelpline last March, and only got £15 cashback. I queried this, expecting £15 per fuel.

It is "clearly" stated on their website that they only pay once per provider/tariff. You need to switch to two separate providers with two separate tariffs to get two separate £15 cashback payments, or first switch your gas then your electric, otherwise you only get £15 for doing the switch. However, it is only "clearly" stated in the small print on the FAQ page, so I do feel like I've been conned out of £15 and I think it should also be made a lot clearer on MSE that this is the case as they are your top pick.

A year later, I've just switched to Scottish Power through TopCashBack, and they *should* be paying me £100 cashback for switching both fuels to them. Additionally, Atlantic spontaneously gave me £23 just for staying with them for a year, which I wasn't expecting. So I'm not that bothered overall!
