    Don't be caught out.
I have just switched after reading Mr Lewis's latest newsletter. In it he mentioned getting a free case of wine with Uswitch.
What it didn't say was what you get is a £40 voucher, but have to chose a case of wine from Virgin wines that has a value of at least £79.99. So it isn't a free case of wine at all. More like a case of sour grapes if you ask me.
So I got all the way through, switched my supplier, and then discovered that I would have to spend another £39.99 plus delivery in order to get my "free" case of wine.
Beware, there is no such thing as a free case.

It appears you didn't go through the specific link given on this MSE website ;)
(or perhaps you tried but didn't clear your cookies/web browser history first
Rather than cash, Uswitch* will give a voucher for 12 bottles from Virgin Wines when you switch to a dual fuel tariff. You get six red and six white; maximum of one per household. And don’t worry, you don’t need to buy anything else from Virgin to redeem it. You have to go via the above link to get the deal, if you go direct to Uswitch you will only get a voucher for £40 off.

    Dear Moneysavers

I tried using Energyhelpline to identify if I would make a saving by changing tariffs. According to the site, having entered my usage, it estimated that my current bill was £1500 a year, yet it is actually more like £1000 a year. I have the Dual fuel Npower Sign Online 10 deal at present. Moreover, when I checked the site's understanding of my current tariffs it gave higher figures across the board than are shown on my bill.

I am quite confused by this and am struggling to work out if I can make a saving by changing since the information from that site seems to be completely wrong.

    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks

Try entering your same figures into one of the other comparison sites listed in the resource bar above.

See if that other site agrees with you or with energyhelpline.com and that should identify who is wrong. :)

Thanks for that. I tried that approaching using the Which Site. Interestingly, it estimated my current bill to be about half of what the Energyhelpline did. Which was much closer to my actual bill. However, something I find annoying is in offering you an alternative deal, they don't factor in the fact that you may already be getting a dual fuel discount. I get £90 per annum cashback from Npower which is equivalent to a more than 10% discount on my fuel bill. So an alternative deal would need to be either £100 cheaper or the equivalent with cashback to make it worth switching.
    Best wishes

Hi, I would like to switch from my present dual fuel deal to separate gas and electricity suppliers, partly to maximise the available cashback with eg UK Power, for example two lots of £15 rather than one lot of £20. Is this possible, or is a switch FROM duel fuel treated as a 'duel fuel' transfer (ie lower cashback)?

"Confusion marketing" There are teams of people at the suppliers end of the contracts who try to work out the best mix of contracts to get customers hooked with the least chance of them getting so annoyed they actually leave.

It is a science and business school graduates have won awards for devising the rules.

The same thing happens in the broadband, cable and cell phone business.

Hey all, wonder if anyone could help me.

Due to the really helpful article I used the compare site moneysupermarket to compare my prices. I was paying £46 for both gas and electric using eon and i found out that i could save £150 a year by switching to npower.

It been roughly 2 months now and it has all gone through finally (although i am yet to recieve the £30 bonus from moneysupermarket) yet my direct debit confirm letter from npower states my monthy direct debit will be £46, exactly the same as it was with eon.

How can i be saving £150 a year if my direct debit stays the same?
